- How do you do a cover of such an iconic song? You change it and do your own thing with it. As with Ghost Town the lyrics seem so relevant in 2020 as they did in 1980.

"Going Underground" is the first British #1 chart single by The Jam, released in March 1980. It debuted at #1 in the UK Singles Chart, spending three weeks at the top. It was the first of three instant chart-toppers for the group.
"Going Underground" was not released on any of the band's six studio albums, although it has appeared on many compilations and re-releases since then. The song was released as a double A-side with "Dreams of Children", which originally had been intended to be the sole A-side; following a mix-up at the pressing plant, the single became a double A-side, and DJs tended to choose the more melodic "Going Underground" to play on the radio.
The song covered important social issues of the time such as political corruption, voter apathy and Thatcherism.
The song was ranked at #2 among the "Tracks of the Year" for 1980 by NME.[6]In March 2005, Q magazine placed "Going Underground" at #73 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks, and in October 2006, placed it at #98 in its list of the 100 Greatest Songs Ever.

Fantastic
That's a great version
I'm pretty picky about these cover things. But a beautiful, powerful and moving rendition.
❤Greetings, I feel very lucky to be able to see you and appreciate your talent, it is true that everything is not for everyone, only for the right people, thank you❤
Wow. Thank you
Very pleasant version, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Will never forget hearing the original for the first time. Straight in at number one and Weller ,as usual, sang every word with a controlled anger, emphasising some of society’s problems. Terrific record and sadly still applies today. 😢
I always loved this song, but never realised how beautiful it could be, until now. Well done guys. Thankyou. ❤🤗✌
Wow. Beautiful. Thanks for bringing this song forward!
Thank you so much
That really actually works. Never thought I'd say that about an acoustic version of Going Underground. And lyrically, as relevant today as ever. Well done.
Thank you so much and we couldn't agree more regarding the lyrics. Sadly.
Excellent 👌 👍. NIce key to play it in..👍👍
Nice version. Nailed it....!
Thank you
A very original rendition of a great song. I have to admit I was skeptical at first but I loved it. Very well done :-)
Thanks so much.
Refreshing version 👍

Thank you so much Anthony
no worries babe xx@@facethestrangeband
Great version. So for you is it the Jam or Buffalo Tom? I always loved the Jam, but after hearing Buffalo Tom I honestly felt like Paul Weller just wrote it for them. You guys owned it too. Another great success for anarchy! Lights go out, walls come tumbling down❤
We wasn't aware of the Buffalo Tom version. Literally listening to it now. Love it!
Thank you for the comment!! Xxxx
Fantastic! Really brings back the feelings of the 80s for me (not that they're so far distant from today). I never thought an acoustic version of this song would work, with the overlapping lyrics, the anger in the performance, and the wall of noise. But you've managed it skilfully, bringing out some of the more nuanced feelings within the song.
Thank you so much pal. That means the world to us.
Aw thank you means a lot coming from you 😊
Excellent version really great 👍 👌 👏 😊
Thank you so much.
Gotta say. I really like it.
Thanks so.much
i like this version...uhm, it helps the singer is so good looking, too :)

Nothing wrong with their taste. A decent cover.
Thank you

I can understand the lyrics better with your version than Paul Weller's
need this cuz the braying sheep are really pissing me off
Brilliant! Nice one Stoke Bloke.
@@facethestrangeband good cover but you get the lyrics wrong in the second line. but that dont really matter i enjoyed it thanks
You have a melodic voice ( I'm thinking who you sound like) but this is not the song for it ,Weller's righteous anger and furious state of the nation observations on society needs to be kept in it's original form.
