Great episode - Zane so smart to have big H on to discuss this past weekend. And it was a pleasant surprise for me to hear from Hayden. I thought he was a smart ass given his court antics but he’s actually charming! Also, appreciate Zane’s thoughtful responses re Ben. I think this is a heavy season for Ben on many levels and it’s impacting his love for the game. I’m hoping he can get back on track
I still think Matt Wright is the top chirp. Man he has these lines were you think he's chilling for a bit and then just hits you and goes on a run. The best one was Arnold was getting heated winning a game on him and he was like "I'm over 40 with a day job and still better than you."- I don't care too much for the constant screaming or cursing people out, but some good roasts are fun
The courts in my neighborhood are right next to our community pool and no one complains when hanging out at the pool. All of the people who live right next to the courts, literally a house within 15 feet, never complains. I feel like people playing basketball and talking is louder than people playing pickleball. The slightest investment into sound mitigation, a wind screen or some landscaping, and the sound can’t be an issue. People love to read a headline and believe that it’s a problem.
About the noise: A basketball bouncing makes about s much noise as a Pickleball. Why no complaints? Yesterday I played at courts in my town and just happened to measure the noise. Right at the courts, the db level is high, but 100 feet away the noise from the swimming pool about 300 yards away was louder than the Pickleball noise? Why no complaints? BTW, no one who has ever been near a gun firing could compare the noise from a PB court to gunfire. There's a reason you have to wear ear protection at a gun range. Absolutely ridiculous. All that said, I think the solution lies with the paddle manufacturers, not the ball manufacturers. I have one paddle that makes almost no noise. Just make it a rule for the paddle makers.
Thanks for this. Hayden and Zane were great. Nice to get to know the player Hayden off the court. His star is on the rise big time. I also would not like to live next to a pickleball court.. I love the game, but I don't want to hear that popping inside my home. In the San Francisco Bay Area there have been some VERY POOR decisions by various Parks and Rec departments as to where they convert Tennis to Pickleball... If you're not smart about where you make these courts it does a lot to encourage the feud between Tennis and Pickle. Be a smart pickle...
Great interview...have a different opinion of Big H now. And, oh by the way, ALW would kill Ryan. I said it on IG - I'll say here - ALW is more consistent and in better shape. ALW for the win.
Great podcast as always. The problem with all that chirping, and bad-mouthing, equates to poor sportsmanship which is a bad look for a 'new' sport. Unless you want pball to be like Hockey. IMO, don't talk to the opponents. // No paddle taps between games, just at the end of the match, anywhere. // Time for a PLAYERS' UNION!
Noise issue - it is overblown. We live across the street from our main community park with baseball & soccer fields. Games going on until 10PM or later - has noise. But that's what it is ans we deal with it.
Gets paid millions of dollars just to participate in a game no matter win or lose and people wonder why he’s not giving 110% when the format sucks. Hmm doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.
I think it's pretty unfair to get into the headspace of someone who lives near a pickleball complex and say they are being oversensitive or a karen or just don't like people having fun or enter your own argument here. How do you know what their experience is? How do you know how this noise affects them? Until you have actually lived the experience, you have no grounds by which to make a judgement on these people. I have played pickleball for 21 years. It is literally the best thing that has ever happened to me. I have a business renting a court and coaching, so I have a vested interest in the growth of pickleball. That said, I can empathize with people who live near complexes of 6+ courts that are constantly busy. I think that's an important distinction. The private court in someone's back yard is never going to be an issue. It is the complex that is near people's homes that is the problem. Imagine being woken up every morning at 6 with the incessant pop-pop-pop of pickleball and it NEVER STOPS until 10 pm. It would get under my skin and I'm pretty sure most here even though we are a pro-pickleball group. Trying to extrapolate these people's experience by comparing it to how you love the sound while being at the courts for 2 hours is nonsense. Most people love music right? How do you feel when your neighbor cranks up their music (it may even be a genre you like) for hours on end? It would get annoying right? Well, that's what's happening with pickleball in these places. Pickleball needs a solution for these areas. Quiet balls, quiet paddles...whatever it is, it needs to be done or we will find ourselves with more roadblocks to expansion because the lawsuits are not going away and they do have merit.
Tell them to move if they don’t like pickleball courts near their home. Also have some mental fortitude. Most war vets don’t even deal with the reported mental health issues that these people complain about.
Pickleball gets more hate that any sport I’ve ever seen, but it’s never high level tennis players it’s all ppl who played tennis a handful of times and have too much time on their hands 😂

Absolutely. Zane's ability to have fun with Hayden and curate a thoughtful response is why we're team Z
I think Zane sums it up perfectly "we're boys"

Pickleball is all about fun and competition. It will be so fun to watch Big H vs Roscoe Bellamy for 500.
Let's broadcast that!
I didn’t hear that, Nobody did!! Ya
This was a really fun podcast! Thanks for the laughs
Thanks for watching!
This may set the record for the word "like" being used.

Rare conversation about the mental game and staying loose. Well done.
Love seeing Hayden play.

In other words, stfu and play.

Not only did Ryan Sherry say he would beat Anna Leigh, but he said he could probably beat her after a bender. 🙄
Zane almost said “nasty Nate” 😭😭😭
Alshon is a very rude trash talker and he gets personal! Don’t care for him.
Zane's written response to Collin's cryfest was fantastic
Where did you find this?
@@adamheath4599 kitchen? Pickleball forum? I dunno, on too many fb groups

I’m older than Hayden but I wanna be him when I grow up
ALW is my favorite professional player.

There is sooooo much trash talking in the NBA and NFL we don’t even hear. It’s a cultural issue. The MLP may need to reign it in at some point.
Want more people to watch pickleball - mike the players.
Don't know how you missed Jill Braverman when talking about female trash talkers.
This will be good!
Hayden is the man 💪

If I could hear the sound of pickleball all day long that would be wonderful.
What does Zane keep looking while talking ???
Great Pod!!!
Thomas's facial structure/expressions really remind me of USA beach volleyball star Kristen Nuss. Maybe a distant cousin? #showerthoughts

Yana? Doesn't she chirp?
I think Yana is on the come up for her chirp game

What an articulate young man Haydn is. Get him on again.
