I own a Lynx-1 and it is a fantastic tent. I've been using it for a couple of years now and I can easily get it setup in 3 minutes. It's been through a bunch of storms and I've never had any issues with water inside the tent, not even a leak. I can definitely vouch for the need to stake it out. The day I got it I set it up in the backyard and the wind blew it across the yard.
Great review and it's awesome to see the brand getting some attention.
    Safe travels, Luke.

I feel like having the tent light up noticeably when you have a light inside it is a really nice feature if you're the kind that gets up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. No way you're losing sight of that tent in the dark if you just leave a small flashlight on inside it.

Awesomeness, finally Alps mountaineering review! I have the Taurus 2 and I have a video of it in a Gale force storm at 60mph. Some of it was blocked by the house, but you can see it collapse and bounce back out. I am very pleased with it as no leaks, two vestibules, pockets, gear loft, and excellent room. I will be taking it out next month for the 0 degree review and watching for some snow. Apoc survival is my channel, thanks Luke and enjoy your box of gifts today!

I bought the Zephyr 3 man tent and it did very well in the rain other than the vestibule doors leaked where the stitching was. So I just seem sealed the doors and haven't had an issue since. Thanks for the review Luke!

I have had a Lynx 1P for about 5 yrs now. Got it from Optics Planet with footprint for about $100. Have used many ( 4X a yr ) for when weight isn't a BIG concern or I am going remote , in the dirt. mud and snow . Figured first off that I would use in shitty conditions and it has never failed me, figured if it did I could replace tent for $80 :) !!! Used last yr for 3 days sub freezing here in Michigan and it rained , sleeted , snowed on us . Is a warm tent with snow piled around fly because of its size , Love the widow and SUPER love the TWO very TOP side fly vents !!!! May be my best for the price tent !!!

I have a Alps Moutaineering Meramac 5 for car camping. We had water in the tent because our campsite flooded during a thunderstorm. Let's just say the state parks don't always have a decent description or picture of the camp sites online.

I LOVE everything about my Zephyr-2, except the weight when backpacking. In fact, the weight is the only reason I am thinking about getting something different, but only for backpacking. The best thing about it in my opinion is the two pulls on the vestibule zippers. On non-raining nights it allows me to unzip just a little and get more ventilation without having to open up the whole side of the tent. I sleep HOT and that is a very important feature to me. I have yet to see another tent with that feature.
As for durability, I have the Zephyr-2 and the Choas-3. Both have been used by Boy Scouts at times and they have held up awesomely.
In my opinion, great tent for the price.
Thanks for the review, keep up the good work.

For using an air pad or air mattress when camping, I always put a thin barrier between the tent floor and the air mattress. That could be a thin foam pad, or fold-able beach mat, just something between them to help block the cold. I've definitely noticed a difference between using one or not using one. I understand that for a backpacker, that would add unwanted weight. But, it's worth it if it keeps you warm at night.

I looked at this line of tents a while back on Amazon and there was quite a few reviews saying that that plastic window doesn't weather well and it will crack and split. Could you start measuring the inside of the tents about a foot off the floor so we can get accurate dimensions that accommodate the sloping sides of the tent at head and foot level. That's sort of a big deal for anybody that's over 6 feet tall. Great review preciate it hope all is well with you and your family

hey Luke. I saw how stealthy the Mill TEC Recom tent in fleknard camo was so I got one. $100.
it disappears in the woods however it's 6 lbs. the poles alone were 2.6 lbs due to the fiberglass.
I just ordered Easton aluminum poles to bring the weight down to 4 lbs.
the 2 main poles cost me $30 each to replace. check it out. if you want a bug out hide out add some camo net and a few stiks and some leaves. it turns into a pile of leaves.

Thanks for the video: I was about to take that new Z1 tent on the back and test the water proof function with a hose before I see this! Another thing I learn is what the heck should that loft net thing go? So it's a loft! Since it's a very small detachable thing, I know I will soon lose it. Maybe AM should have it built in with the tent. Again - thanks!

I dunno.....one person? Looks like two people could fit, as long as it is your significant other and ya like to sleep/cuddle all night. My wife and I, even when it is very warm, always cuddle up when sleeping (even after 32 yrs of marriage, LOL!) and 'occupy' the space of one person so a tent this size would be great for us. . How is the air circulation? Thanks for another honest review and we'll see ya in the next one.

Last year I was camping at Lakeside Beach campground in New York and I had a tent from Kmart my kids used to use. It was a Coleman tent. It has seems all the way around. And it rained like you've never seen and I was sleeping in one inch of water. Not very comfortable but I was still warm in my sleeping bag even wet. Then I went to Walmart in Albion New York the next day and bought the crummiest end at Walmart that everybody said leaked it was $25 and two bottles of the stuff which cost more than half of the tent to make it waterproof. That tent I was in 20 hours of torrential downpour and it never leaked. But people on UA-cam said it sucks and it leaks. They probably didn't use the waterproofing. I like a better tent that is lighter but those are like $300 so I don't guess I'm not going to get one. I'll have to do something like this cuz I'm on my e-bike I don't have a vehicle and I need something really light I need a light sleeping bag also

Can I just say that anybody who sets up a tent for the first time at night, at the campsite, is asking for trouble. Also, some may see it as overkill, but I seam seal all of my tents and tarps when I first get them, taped seams or not. I've never had one leak.

one of the best/bigger tips I have received from watching more than a few tent vids, IS THIS. Avoid freestandings, go with non free standing ones...why? Because it's ONE LESS piece of equipment you can have fail on you...so even though I am an amateur, I LEARNED THIS BASIC FROM THE PROS, and they KNOW THEIR stuff...you really want this simplicity for the long haul...one less piece of equipment to be able to malfunction/break!
