Thank you so much!!! I used your recipe last night for my dad’s 60th birthday and the prime rib was perfect! First time I ever made it and everyone was so impressed!! I couldn’t take all the credit and told them I had found your video and it was a game changer!! So easy!!

OMG....Louise....that looks awesome! I actually had my first piece of prime rib last Christmas. I’m almost 65...what took me so long...lol. I found, on UA-cam, the oven method you mentioned. My husband said it was perfect...he actually won’t order prime rib at a restaurant...he says it doesn’t compare to mine...I think he just wants me to make it again...lol. Thanks, again, for a great lesson!😊

To stand the beef on the onions, I leave the onions in thick discs, not loose slices. Works a lot better. I love your channel, I’m fairly new to the world of ninja multicooking and your channel has been invaluable. I’m in the U.K. so I have to do a little re jigging of ingredients and temperature etc but it’s not a big deal. ❤️

I would have taken the liquid out of the one you pressure cooked before crisping. The liquid creates steam that interferes with the crisping. It would be interesting to see how this comes out in the new Ninja Foodi with the smart lid using the steam and crisp method (although that has liquid in the bottom when it crisps also).

Hello Louise, Just watched your video on Prime Rib. I have tried the pressure cooker and then Air crisp method myself with great results. The timing was the most difficult issue I also faced. I haven't tried just the air crisp and bake, I will try this method based on your video. I am a retired History Teacher and I must say, I really love all of your presentations; I think you are a master teacher! You are clear with your instructions and willing to show your "mistakes" to your viewers; that really helps people trust your recipes once you perfect them. You have such a warm and caring personality, I think you have the best cooking UA-cam channel of all that I have seen. Thank you for all of the great tips and recipes! Btw, I often see you trying to put the pressure cooker lid somewhere on your counter and I had the same issue until I found this product, I hope this is helpful. iPstyle Pan Lid Holder for Pots and Pans Progressive Lid and Spoon Rest Shelf 304 Stainless Steel Pan Lid Organizer Kitchen Decor Tool (Holder)

@@TheSaltedPepper Honey, you need a gravy separator. It allows you to drain the jus out from under the fat. Also, you can use the rendered beef fat to make Yorkshire pudding, which is a totally classic accompanyment to Roast beef of any cut, and dead easy too.

Got my wife the 8 qt. Ninja Foodi and the first meal we made was a 6 lb. rib roast. Changed the technique, though; I broiled it first for 20 minutes then pressure cooked with broth for about 2.5 minutes per pound. Doing it this way resulted in a nice crust and flavorful interior along with a nice au jus. It was OUTSTANDING!!
My only negative remark: Foodi? Really?!? Couldn't come up with a better name? We do look forward to using our Ninja "Cuisiner!!"

I have been using electric pressure cookers for going on Three years and I love it! I have wanted a foodi more than anything but because I didn't want to spend that much $$ at the time I bought an economical brand just in case I didn't love it. LOLOL! now I have several, all different brands and sizes. But I just longed for the foodi but my husband thought I was crazy and obsessed. I had to have him build me a HUGE 3 tier shelving unit to hold all my gadgets. Which also includes a smokeless griddle and several food type processors, ect.... I broke down and FINALLY got a deal I could not pass up on. I ordered the new DELUXE 8qt foodi! It is due to arrive tomorrow! I am thrilled to have found you!!! I bought 1 slab each baby back and St. Louis ribs yesterday to make today when my foodi gets here. And I watched your video on that so got them prepped and ready. But now I stumbled on this video and FINALLY my question......
I work in a meat market and I got a deal on New York strip. So I had them cut me a beautiful Choice 3lb roast ( because our choice bone in rib eye was not on sale, lol) can I follow these directions to do my new York strip roast or am I gonna be better of cutting into steaks! What is your opinion?
I THINK YOU ARE FANTASTIC! YOU ARE MY NEW FAVORITE CHEF!!!
(Sorry to ramble I just love how you instruct, I feel like I'm in the kitchen right next to you.) I froze my roast as soon as I got it home and I am dying to to get it out and cook it but don't want to thaw it till I get someone who knows what they are doing. Plzzz help!

I appreciate 🌸 your indepth honest review! Especially not just taking one bite of each prime rib & saying "oh I like this one better!" Because I can see how sometimes taste testing can be a hard decision, not only for yourself, but especially when you're also engaging with your audience at the same time. (obviously there are going to be times where it's a fast no brainer as to which one is better than the other & will take no time to decide) I just wanted to point out how much I appreciate your authenticism, because I've seen so many yt'ers out there who just aren't & you my dear are really a breath of fresh air! God bless you!! 💜
I also got a chuckle out of you including your husband's opinion, I would have loved to see the look on his face though.... While being blind-folded lol 🤣

Loved your video on prime rib in the Ninja foodi. To get rid of the fat from the pessure cooked roast drippings, there is a wonderful tempered glass pitcher with a long spout coming from the bottom front of the pitcher that allows you to easily
pour off the au jus, leaving the fat to remain in the pitcher. I've loved mine for many years...works perfectly for making pot roast gravy!

I did something wrong. A 4.½ lb boneless Prime rib, put it atop onions, put garlic in slits, in my 8 qt Foodi I broiled for 23 minutes, turned to 250°bake/roast for 10 minutes per lb. We like med rare. Temp was at 95° so did 10 more minutes, took it out to rest for 15 minutes and it was so rare and garlic inside was still hard. I saved it by warming in ajus to med rare. But I think My opening the lid during the broil because It was smoking, seeing it was burning ( it was rather too tall, I should have just put onions on bottom and skipped the rack, my bad) so I did transfer it to no rack and finished it. Looking back, I probably should have added a good 10 minutes to cooking time on broil once I removed the rack. It was delicious though and alot faster than conventional oven. Thank you Louise, I will try again...🥰

I have to share that a family member called this week asking what restaurant my mom would like a gift card to for Christmas. I was a bit sad to tell him Mom isn’t very mobile anymore and a restaurant card may not be the best choice. In the end we agreed that I would buy her a prime rib and prepare it for her at home (even though I have never done one before). I am so glad that you are in such close contact with my family. Did any of them mention if they are coming over?

The Salted Pepper I’m not partial to the pressure cooker. What it does good, it does great. Beans, rice, pasta, oh yeah. But your tips on doing it hot and high and then letting it roast as the cooker cools down carries a lot of experience and wisdom. The other method I’ve used on large roasts is to heat up the panini grill until it can’t get any hotter and just squeeze it in there for 40 minutes with 1/4 turn half through. But this time I really want to use your method.

I'm planning to get a foodi for christmas (I'm watching these videos in secret!). Have you considered doing a prime rib in a sous vide and then crisping it in the foodi? I will be trying that for our Christmas dinner and first foodi test. The sous vide will cook to your desired temp all the way through, not just the center. Then I think the crisping after will be just perfect.

with the pressure cook one, drain the liquid out before you air/tender crisp it as leaving the liquid in you are crisping it but also steaming it at the same time.
I tend to PC all meat then crisp as I think it's more tender

@@TheSaltedPepper I've found that any liquid in the pot will stop it crisping as much. the pc one gave you a bowel of liquid (broth & fat) this would produce steam so soften any crisping. I find pouring out any liquid then crisping gives a better result

Great video as usual Louise! I have a question about the pressure cooked rib please; instead of leaving the lid closed and waiting for the steam in the pot to make the temp of the ribs rise, wouldn't it have been better to empty the pot and put the aircrisp lid down soon as all the pressure was released? Seems like the centre would have retained the heat more and the outside world have gotten more crisp.

    • @TheSaltedPepper
      @TheSaltedPepper  4 роки тому

Good point! I think the biggest mistake I made was in not searing the pressure cooked prime rib first. That would have fixed a lot of the lack of flavor in the crust. I also think I could have PC just a tad longer and dumped the liquid before Air Crisping. All in all, both were very good, but I definitely would do things a bit differently if I PC a prime rib again.
