That was a bit different. Southernmost part of Africa wow not often one can see that and yes where the two currents meet on a calm day you can clearly see the different colours of the water. Well done can't wait to see next episode.
If you dared going into that ocean you might have seen the difference of the two currents. I’ve seen it as far north as Durban area. The cold Atlantic water is more dense and looks like a vergroot glas in the warmer Indian Ocean water. Sometimes you get disoriented by looking around when it occurs. It does vary with the seasons how close it gets to shore. I think it is also the reason sardines come ashore in the Natal waters. Madagascar has a Venturi affect on the current between it and the African continent.
That's very interesting, especially that there are visible differences between the Atlantic and Indian oceans! 🌊 We live in Strand and I'm no stranger to the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean. 🥶 I always wear hiking boots when we travel and the thought of going into the water didn't even cross my mind at the time. I might just do that one day, one brave day. Cold water and I aren't the best of friends. 😏 Thank you for the cool info. 😎
I wonder when they built that gigantic African map! I was there as a kid in 1985 and it wasn't there at the time. Quite a sandy hill you tried to drive up, but I bet you would have tried harder if you were alone ;)
I believe the map was unveiled in March 2019, long after your visit! 🌍 That sand was quite thick, so I might've tried once or twice more, but I don't think I would've made it with the Kwiddie. 🚙😁
I know and understand the limitations of the Kwid all too well and will never take any chances, at least not when I have Sonia in the car with me. Because we do a combo of gravel and tar now, it's just too much of a hassle to let down tyres every time. 😁🚗
Ohhh so that's why the name L’Agulhas sounded so familiar. Geography lessons when I was a kid... yep. I see despite the wind, it seems like it was good weather - sunny and clear. Thanks for showing the shipwreck. I never knew that much about South Africa, so I'm enjoying the series - learning something new in each.
This is another beautiful part of our country with a very special claim to fame, so I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed this episode. 🌍 Imagine one of our videos taking you back to your school days! 🚗😁
Just amazing. Thanks guys
It has changed a little since we were there in 2012. Thank you so much for sharing
Its just a beautiful site!!!👌

I wish I could have seen the difference in colour but it was a rough day.
Just shows all the points of interest we have here, stunning to see thanks for it all.

I'm glad we did! And that was even back in the day when we didn't explore as in-depth as we do nowadays, which makes it even more special. 🚙😊

Ps. Next time you go, check out the Sea Shell house for overnight stay. My good friend Mosie (Yvonne) owns it and she is the best.

A lot can be achieved by letting the tyres down to 1.2 bar and try again...if you really wanted to 🙂

That would be a cool experience, in more ways than one. 😎🥶
Is it cold?
We were there in summer, so it wasn't cold as far as I can remember. 🚙🌞 It probably gets quite chilly in winter though.
