Texas fan here - these ASU dudes were the real deal. I thought 4th quarter with a 16 point lead, things should be smooth sailing…not the case. Happy for the win, but man what a fight.
ASU fan here, yeah when it was 24-8 with maybe 8 mins to go with the TX defense I pretty much figured games over. For ASU to be a 4th and 13 from winning it was NUTS. Nice job, good luck against OSU next week.
Everyone deserves an explanation for that targetting call. Who actually made that decision?? Agree with Dillingham, what even is targetting... If theres no such thing as targetting in certain situations then it would be nice for everyone to know.... Especially the kids whose safety they claim to care about. Wild.
No launch No crouch No upward thrust No lowering of the head. Contact was facemask to facemask. Not targeting. If anything, the hit on Isaiah Bond mid air was more of a "Targeting, Defenseless Receiver" hit on the interception play in the 4th qtr. They didn't call that either.
As a Texas fan, I must admit that ASU was much tougher that most people expected. ASU completed an amazing season and they should be very proud of it. They are the BIG 12 champions. when nobody believed on them at the beginning. A lot of respect for this team and coach Kenny! Also, a lot of respect for Leavitt and Skattebo -- they really caused us Texas fans a lot of stress. I'm sure they will have another amazing run next season.
That was one of the best college football games I have ever seen. I was not a believer in Arizona State because I had not seen them play but I had watched highlights of Skattebo and knew he was for real. Would love to have him on the Chicago Bears - he has the heart of a Bear! The coachs’ remarks reflect why this team has the character it has and battle so hard. As long as he is coaching, this team will be for real and this press conference and the way they performed on this national stage is a massive recruiting tool for this team. Wow!
What a classy young coach and amazing team. Hopefully you guys can keep him. What an inspiring team. We won. But you guys won the football fans hearts. He made his guys come out to shake hands. Class. Yes, it was targeting. That is how cookie crumbles. Only huge mistake was 4 and 13. I thought we lost.
@@cij2 Explanation is pretty simple. A targeting call there puts ASU immediately into FG range. If ASU hits it and hangs on, then everyone will say that the refs decided the game. For whatever reason, nobody ever says "refs decided the game" with blatant no-calls. They only say it will calls in the affirmative. Most of the review time had nothing to do with evaluating the play ... it was all about evaluating the outcome of the call. Ultimately, the refs chickened out and took the less intrusive, albeit incorrect, call.
this was ASUs year but unfortunately and SEC player made the hit. i hate all the teams left with a passion. im sick with CFB right now i wont be tuning into the semis
One of the most exciting games of the year IMO. Arizona really impressed me w/ their no quit attitude. Holy smokes, Kenny looks 14 years old tho... LOL
Texas fan here. Man, hats off to this team and coaching staff. Cam was correct. No one can stop that man. This team and coaching staff will always have Texas cheering for them unless we are facing each other. Gob bless yall.
Texas is an ELITE program. I’m a Texas Tech life long fan. Coach Sark is ELITE. AZ State is an amazing program they had a chance to win. I think what gets lost is the Big 12 is still an amazing football conference. I think Texas fans and Coach Sark would agree because they know better than anyone Big 12 is good football. Texas played there butts off to. I know Texas is technically SEC this year but I’m hoping they get it done against OSU.
One of the best fought games I can remember in the last 45 years of watching college football. Sometimes a team has a character you just cannot manufacture, it is just there. It just comes together. It is few and far in between these times for ASU, so when you get it, you have to appreciate it to the fullest. I am 95% proud of the team and 5% bummed they lost. Usually it is the other way around. This team was special this year. Congrats to UT, but ASU played over their expectations beyond belief. Glad a young local guy alum is at the helm too, usually they bring in an accomplished coach at the sundown of their career with retirement and golf on the brain, and football a side note, with no connection to the place or the team. Lastly, Cam had a national showing of the first degree, wow. If this were the early 2000's, Belichick would be salivating over Cam in the draft.
Utmost respect for these ASU players...no quit. Every team says they are a family, a brotherhood, but its never been more apparent on any team than with these 3 guys. Not an ASU fan but was pulling hard for them. Coach D seems like a real quality guy, wish them all the best in the future. (Agree the no call on targeting was ridiculous).
Hook’em to the Sun Devils. Great TEAM with a bright future! ASU has the right coach, can’t help but like and respect him and those young men. Skat is a hell of a player, and That QB is going to be a problem for anyone on ASU’s schedule!
@ and 8-5 raider enters the chat. Everything still going through LBK? ASU wins the big12 and plays in the cfp, while raider gets drug up and down the field by ark in the liberty bowl. Some things never change!
As a U of A fan, Dillingham has earned my respect and I was saying before that Skatt should’ve been a Heisman finalist but now I truly think the award should’ve been his. Amazing effort.
Texas fan here but a football ball fan first and foremost. Respect to ASU!!!! Sam is only going to get better. I will support ASU next season unless they play my Longhorns. Great game, ASU fans are classy too.
@@timebandit1266 lol you are correct, however, I said I will support ASU next season, not forever. Same with my hometown SMU Mustangs lol, I’m a fan of Jennings and want to see him succeed just like Sam for ASU. Just me being a football fan brosky.
Targeting calls were not called on any team in this game where they might have been (there was a late hit to the head of a defenseless receiver on Texas that was not called earlier and I think it was not called because the defender jumped and used his shoulder to hit the receivers head - not his helmet. The play on Leavitt was not targeting and should not have been targeting because the player did not lower his helmet at any point of the tackle and it was not a late hit either. If they were not going to call a late hit to the head on a defenseless receiver, they were not going to call it on a legal hit to the QB where the helmet was not lowered. So, glad that the refs did not try to dictate the outcome of this game. Great players on both sides of one ot the greatest football games I have seen. And Skattebo put himself on the map nationally where he probably should have been - simply a great football player. Fantastic competition by two teams that did not want to lose this game.
Arizona ST. Def looked like the better team...Special teams hurt them but the Cover 0 on 4th down in OT was the worse call. Basically Gifted TX with an easy TD. TX QB had not been killing them all game so basic pass coverage in that situation was the more obvious call. That said, maybe peeps will now shut up about these conference winners not being worthy of a higher seed. They won their conference and thus they should be rewarded with a bye for doing so.
Devils fought hard. This one hurt, but man… WHAT A RIDE! Big12 Champs 🎉 Skat w/ the 🍑 Peach Bowl MVP. Give the boys their 💐 they played one hell of a season! Go Devils, 🔱’Em!!!
The targeting call was bad. What was worse was on 4th and 13 letting Texas' best WR waltz down the middle of the field, 3 yards behind the nearest DB, and catching a wide-open, easy ~25 TD pass. How does a defensive breakdown of that magnitude happen on that play? And, then, to back it up, on the very next play, Texas' leading receiver on the season, their TE, also waltzes down the middle of the field, relatively uncovered, for another easy 25 yd TD pass. It was as if ASU's defense played the entire game, got Texas to that 4th and 13, and then just walked off the field. Texas ran 4 more plays after that and did anything and everything they wanted on each of those 4 plays.
While people are targeting the non-targeting call, be sure to target the illegal pulling of Skateebo into the end zone. According to the NCAA Football rule 9-3-2. Another offensive player can push but cannot pull a ball carrier for forward yardage. Doing so is a 5 yd penalty. So, instead of Skat's late TD, it should have been no TD and ball back at the 7 yard line.
If you are quoting the section, subsection, and Sub-subsection or the rules you may have lost the plot. There were a lot of calls and in the end Texas won. Just stop throwing drinks on the field because you aren't happy with a specific call.
That was a politically correct answer for that missed targeting call.. I wish coach would’ve spoke his mind.. that was the most obvious call!! I know we don’t want the game determined by the official’s however, when a play is that obvious!
The game was so weird, Texas legitimately didn’t deserve to win, the offense and defense allowed this asu team to have 91 plays and 15+ mins of T.O.P and gave up a 16 point lead in the 4th.. missed 2 game winning FGs in the span of 3 mins. We deserved to lose. We deserved to lose, we didn’t execute outside of the first 10 mins and OT. We play like that again against anybody else and we get blown out, sark looked like he didn’t know the game continues after a punt return, the oline played like they say Georgia across the ball, tre and Jaydon blue looked like they were running in slow motion. Quinn played well enough, but somehow he didn’t know he had Gunnar helm until the 4th qt. Our CBs outside of jahdae and mukaba lost every bit of technique. We were undisciplined, we were unfocused, we were disorganized. We deserved to lose. We won because Quinn and Matthew golden and Gunnar held and jahdae showed up, but the rest of the team left after the punt return. Can’t play like that against a better team
texas had the biggest money budget to build a team in 4 years and still barely beat ASU (budget team) without jordan tyson and a first year freshman QB sAm. Texas is pretty lucky to win today to be honest, they would've lost if elon and the austin political team didn't buyoff the ref team today. That was a TEXTBOOK targeting!!! ASU was the team with more heart, more integrity, and more fans.

@@markschulte-b4fThat is actually debatable. Contact was made face masks to face mask and the tackler didn’t leave his feat. It was a completely normal tackler where you even see the player pull their head up to make sure their crown doesn’t hit the player.
