I'd be happy to work with you and help in any way to better understand what it is you don't believe in. But it's your faith and your free to believe what you want.
It's both, that's why people simplify it as separation of church and state. It guarantees that people can observe any religion they want to, but it's also meant to prevent any one religion from gaining too much political power. While he's not the most articulate, he's mostly right about the rest. The bible does treat women like cattle. I don't know about blacks in particular, but the NT describes all non-Hebrews as heathen. If the bible does represent God, I hope he doesn't exist and wouldn't worship him if he does.
I too support Thomas Jefferson: "All men are created equal; they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
I find it amazing that people defend a book to a god that orders and sanctions slavery. Even when I was a christian and when I read about the slavery in ex 21 and lev 25, I was disgusted immediately. It helped me wakeup.
It's OK to own people as long as you let them go after 6 years? I feel ripped off now after seeing "12 Years A Slave" at my local cinema. I'm heading there right now to ask for half my money back
The argument from boring ranting. If you produce your garbage in a non stop stream maybe you can stop anyone from pointing out the obvious flaws. The skill is in doing this and still being able to breathe.
The same people who say that slavery was such a common practice in Biblical times that God had to allow it are the same people that say that slavery in the US was wrong, even though it was an extremely common practice here until it was abolished. You can't say one is okay while condemning the other, simply because it wasn't written in the Bible.
Funny how often “it makes sense to me” is put forward by theists as a validation of their belief. Sadly, that expression carries absolutely no weight at all when the person saying it is thick as a brick.
I used to be so obsessed with learning about Egypt. It was fascinating. I was surprised to learn that there is no history of outside slaves in Egypt, from Egyptians who were obsessed with recording their history. Their slaves were their own because they didn't trust the outsiders, just like their kids came from incest due to them not believing in mixing and keeping their blood "pure". Its been a while since I studied that stuff but I have a feeling no one has discovered any new info on slaves being anything other than poor Egyptians.
Not to mention that it can now be stated with a high degree of confidence that everything in the Bible talking about the enslavement of the Israelites in Egypt is pure fiction (much like everything else, of course) as there's no archaeological evidence to corroborate it. In fact, it's now widely accepted that the "slaves" who labored on the pyramids and such were nothing of the sort, but actually just ordinary workers recruited from the local populace.
Almost all the "labourers" used on the large scale Egyptian construction projects were Egyptian Agricultural farmers and workers temporarily unemployed because of the annual floods. The skilled workforce were professionals. There is no trace at all of a large Hebrew population in either upper or lower Egypt at the time that would be covered by late Genesis or Exodus.
noty thx Yes, incest was found to be common, more so in the Dynasty family lines. I dont know a lot about Pakistan, but Pakistani families I know dont have any incest as far as I can tell based on their parents families. So I can't comment on that.
Craig McCullough I am not saying that the ppl who built were slaves, but the rulers did have slaves. I guess you can call them servers, since they actually served but weren't really owned.
KandT-Venture I wasn't claiming that there were no slaves (owned or otherwise) in Pharaonic Egypt. I am saying that there was no significant Hebrew population in Egypt at the relevant time and that slaves (Hebrew or otherwise) were used in the large scale construction schemes.

I pity the poor people who have to deal with him on a daily basis.
Actually, for any slave treated in accordance with biblical commands, they were treated *better* than modern-day employees. My boss is under no obligation to treat me the same way I'm supposed to treat him, for example.
@@Vic2point0 if in your actual work you are beaten up to the point when you felt you would die before 2 days, you feel like you are alive just by luck and you are worried your boss doesn't care if he kills you in the beaten, then 'yes', you are treated worse than some of the slaves of the bible, and in this times you should stop working there and call the police, because in this times you have the right to abandon that work and you even have the right to call the police and sue that abuse as a crime. And you should not let anyone to abuse of you saying that you should obey your masters even the cruel ones

Actually there were countries at the time of the Bible! There were also empires at the time, city states, and the like. And they DID have laws. 2. By stripping ecclesiastical (religion)) authority of its credibility on factual matters, cast doubts on its claims to certitude in matters of morality, women, gays, slavery, etc.
3. The facts of science force us to take responsibility for the welfare of our species, our planets, and ourselves.

You got that backward. It's to keep government out of religion. And your take on the bible is so wrong I feel bad for you. And due to your lack of biblical knowledge, you look like a fool. I'd recommend not talking to anyone until your intelligent enough to do so. Assuming you are an atheist.
Luis Lomeli, you mean the Thomas Jefferson who wanted a "Bible" to be in every classroom???
I support Thomas Jefferson on the Constitution it's been good to us so far.
I too support Thomas Jefferson: "All men are created equal; they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
Keep up the honest work. Even if the bible was true, all who represents it comes across false
Giovanni Rivers---i am finding that out....too
*represent
*false.
I'm heading there right now to ask for half my money back
It's that word that means PROPERTY that shows it's slavery as we define it.
Yet, ANOTHER Tap Dancing Thiest! Just what we wanted, another xtian tap dancer!
I really can not stand the Indian accent, somehow the pronunciation is so difficult to grasp
Why does God need people to spread his message and other people to enforce his laws. Where on earth is he?
I’m glad this guy’s wife is free from this incessant bullshit, must have been torture.
I hope that she was deaf
Jfc, why did the call screener even let the guy on, he's barely coherent, like a 5 year old just starting to speak a language.
Learn when to end a call... for crying out loud.
@The Mandalorian
You mean 0% of Athiest callers unless they're 'Doubting Athiests', Creationists, Conspiracy Theorists or just plain idiots?
I couldn't help but keep waiting on Michael to tell Matt he needs him to hit the Windows key along with the letter r as in Romeo.
This religious dogma never ever ends! It's astonishing it's the 21st century and the fantasies continue.. woww a billion times +..
John 8:32 The true will make you free
Me::: The lies believers
Love how batshit won't fertilize Matt's lawn, (or mine).
Lol lol he was still rambling on while being on hold 😍 Slavery and the lowe hahaha
>Slavery is brought up
Matt: It's go time!.
This sounds like a variation of the Cornholio character as played by Beavis
Michael is the sort of theist that makes a rational person want to pull their hair out. What an incredibly frustrating person. He has never learned that those two ears on the side of the head are there to listen. Michael, however, struggles with notions such as listening, or thinking, he just wants to talk. I pity the poor people who have to deal with him on a daily basis.
Working for someone and get money for it is now equal to being a slave.
lmao this guy
@@zaikimi You're not reading what I said. The objection is supposed to be against what the bible *condones,* and it specifically forbids threatening and oppressing slaves, forcing them to live and work at a particular place, etc.
I could only last 9 min...this was brutal. He's just preaching and claiming his religion and sect is better. Ya know, just because.
Doesn't matter if the term is scoddlepopwer as long as the bible says you can own someone forever
When i finished high school my interest where computer science ,christian theology. Thank life i choose computer science as my major , now I'm a happy rationalist
*I (this word should always be capitalized)
*school, my
*interests (plural)
*were (past tense of "to be")
"Where" is for location.
*science and Christian
*I chose (past tense)
*major. Now (to fix your comma splice run-on)
*rationalist.
Don't put spaces before commas or other punctuation marks.
When God removed Adam's rib to create Eve, did he already know it was the only bone it the body which could replace its self or did he just get lucky?
Matt was correct though, the caller did say it would change forever
Why would anybody call in and try to explain how slavery is not immoral... It just cannot be done.
The Iliad is very old did the story happen that way?
People are easily fooled.I was too until I became athiest.
The comments are enabled.
There is a God!
You sure about this? Might be a hallucination.
My prayers have been answered
Unlike a LOT of christian videos. Because they don't want reason to have a voice. It's akin to "If I close my eyes, no one can see me". (If they can't reply, then I'm right)
Michael sounds exactly like the "crocs" (and just as intelligent) in the animated comic "Pearls before swine".
Was does it take everyone 5 minutes to get to a point
i see why this guy is divorced. That poor woman
8:45
"There's a lot of DOCTRINAL issues there"
"Correct and this INDOCTRINATION thing was there in the catholics" lol
I have never had a boss that I hated. If I did, I would have found another job. Michael has a horrible outlook.
In an economically disenfranchised reality and situation the jubileeeeed slave would still be subject of slavery since there was no change in his/her earning capacity during the pre-jubilee period.
we still have poor people dying of hunger; so... legalize slavery?
Hmmm how come that the word "slavery" never got corrected, for 2000+ years.
BS.
Cyrus was against slavery...and also released the jewish people from Babilon where they were treated like slaves. Was not a good example for them?
Hate it when people from Oklahoma call in
Completely off topic. His accent! Where is it from??
Indian or Pakistani.
I wonder if Michael will change his position on slavery after being owned ; )
michael: okay okay
matt: shut up
michael okay okay
lmao almost fell outa my chair
Actually there were countries at the time of the Bible! There were also empires at the time, city states, and the like. And they DID have laws. Perhaps not laws that we would necessarily regard as moral or just today, but there were laws. When there are laws, it doesn't necessarily make those laws moral or just, either in the past or today
So hard listening to this caller!
How can someone defend slavery what the hell
Is Michael flying overhead taking photos of me?
Blimey! I suppose Michael is allowed out in public?
Aside: Here on 29 Dec 2020. 3 weeks and 2 days to go til the tangerine tyrant gone.
Paganism is older than christianity so that must be trusted according to caller.
That guy must be fun at parties... goes on about "history" all the time, very warped sense of history, history through a Christian lens. That can't be good.
