My partner and I usually budgeted around the £1000 a month whilst touring here in the UK. That was pre Covid so I imagine it would be 33% dearer next year when sadly ,now im a widower, I’ll be touring on my own.

We had a gas heater in our motorhome which was factory fitted and liked the way it operated, so when we did our self build opted for LPG.

Quite reasonable costs, must admit, I've spent that amount, in a little over a week, when I've visited the UK in the past, (live in Belgium now), and there is only 4 of us lol.

Hi to you both and your 3 lovely children my husband and I think you guys are a beautiful amazing family we think it’s great idea the decision you made to sell up and go on your new adventure and start new life we just love watching your videos Watch them for hours . We have a motorhome name (Monty)which we had for nearly 2 years in April we had 60 trips in him we love it. But we both still work so we can only take few weeks off a year to go away and the weekend we take when we can . We only have 3 years to go before we get to retirement. So that what we are looking forward to so we have plans to go for months to tour round Scotland and every where and any where we can think off . Well wish you all the very best and keep up the good work doing the videos PiperJack and Teddy So adorable Love to you all Christine Kevin from Shropshire xxxx

That's pretty good for food costs for the 5 of you, that's about the same as I pay for me and the 3 kids! Don't blame you for the treats either... sometimes pizza is necessary!

Could I just ask do you have insurance’s and Mots and breakdown cover, tolls in Europe for the roads included in your monthly budget, maintenance on the van and risk money put away in case of breakdown, pet insurance and health insurance, and are there some months where you have quite big fluctuations? I promise I’m not being nosey just really interested to know what those big things also cost travelling between differing countries, are you considered non dom now or ex pat and how does that effect insurances breakdown cover and medical needs ? Well that’s rather a lot of questions 😁 I bet your bored of me already 😂I’m new to your channel and I’ve subscribed I think your wonderful parents and this will give your children the most amazing start in life.
Thank you for sharing your life with us, I really appreciate it, when the going sometimes gets tough, I will send you good energy and encouragement in my comments, your sense of humour as a unit is amazing and that is an asset full of light that will help you through those days where everything seems to go wrong, I’m genuinely really excited for your now and your future, and your children will grow up in the most beautiful way with open minds and hearts and probably learn new languages really quickly, travelling is the best education any child could ever have, superb parenting in my humble opinion, I wish you all the very best and I’m excited and privileged to have this gift that your giving us all, your time, your amazing energy, and to learn from you as you go forward on this amazing adventure is huge ! Thank you 🙏 Old Owl 🦉 Alaya Norfolk, and just to be considerate to you , you can find me @shivashiva83 on twitter, so I’m not some random stranger , but a real person out here who is delighted for you all 🙏💜🙏

Thanks for your really lovely comment ❤️❤️ so kind of you! We do have other fixed costs that we havent included in this video. Perhaps it will be worth sharing those at some point. We have travel insurance for europe, obviously the van insurance too. We've only been full time since July, so hard to tell if any big fluctuations but can't imagine there will be.

    Hey guys,
Just stumbled across your channel and watching your back catalogue right now.
Perfect find as we are a family of four, with my wife and I + 2 and a 1/2 year old twins (+ our dog, springer spanial called Izzy) and come April we are quitting our jobs and moving from NZ (I'm a kiwi, shes from London) to the UK and Europe to do the same thing as you, mainly for the summer months, but we'll see how we go - it's open ended currently.
I'm sure I'll find the answers in your videos but if you felt like replying of course I have some questions.
    - Is it difficult travelling with your dog ie what is europe like with dogs, as dog friendly as the UK?
    - I know you built your motor home in the UK, is it right or left hand drive? If right hand, how difficult is it navigating throughout Europe then?
    - Do you run solar power?
    - What is your hot water situation like, or is it gas heated water?
    - How is it with the kids in the small space like that? I'd imagine you are outside of the van 99% of the time so not difficult, but do you ever feel claustrophobic?
    - What is mainland Europe (say Spain or France) like for freedom camping? Is it allowed or do you generally have to stick to official locations.
    - Do you have an internal shower?
Excited to see what you get up to next...

    • @Touringwiththekids
      @Touringwiththekids  Рік тому

Thanks for your comment. Will try our best to answer them.
      - All countries we have visited have been pretty dog friendly, although certain ones do have a lot of stray dogs.
      - It's a right hand drive, not too difficult but handy with me in the passenger seat to double check when pulling out at tricky junctions.
      - We have a power bank with solar panels that we recharge when we need to. No fixed solar on the van
      - We have gas heated water for our shower and washing up
      - Sometimes with the kids it can get a bit noisy in the van... but most of the time we manage okay
      - Scandinavia is brilliant for wild camping. Very acceptable and tolerated up there, Spain and France have lots of official motorhome aires, so it's less of a thing.
      Hope that's helpful!!
      x

£80 a week for a family of 5? Our family of 5 does almost 3 times that much, I don't think £80 even covers my 13 years old food, he eats like a horse
