- In this extra special episode of our 'Behind The Design' series we'll be giving you an exclusive tour of our second project in the Middle East- a beautiful villa in the Gulf that we have designed -from key elements of the interior architecture to the furniture, and final styling. In part 1 we look around the Entrance hall, atrium, formal dining room, formal majilis, majilis bathroom and family room. Sharing design tips and detailed explanations behind the design choices we aim to share our knowledge and expertise with you through this channel. As a Qatari, I find this house cozy, welcoming, and practical to gulf residents lifestyle. the rooms distribution and the inner court and its arches is similar to our old houses With you metioning that they requested that their house be built according to Fang Shui standards and they chose you to add your elegant touch to the house interior, I expect that the housewife is well educated, enlightened and has an artistic taste. i am very impressed by her. well done to both of you, you did a great job in this project👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If the home owners specifically requested this to be built according to Feng Shui while he/she is a Muslim then he/she is committing shirk the most major sin in Islam. If not a Muslim, believing in Feng Shui doesnt mean well educated & enlightened, just superstitious. If she/he intended to sell this to Chinese buyer, in that case then it was a smart move. I agree with the artistic part although would be better if he/she chose Arab/Islamic style instead which not many know stolen by the West (read "Stealing from the Saracens: How Islamic Architecture Shaped Europe" by Diana Darke) . And I'd like to add.. rich masha Allah.

These standards were applied to the Umayyad, Abbasid, and Ottoman mosques, and they are taught to this day in engineering colleges in the Arab world, but it is known as biogemetry. I did not understand why it conflicted with Islam. There is a professor named Ibrahim Karim who posts his lectures on UA-cam. You can search more about this science “biogeometry”

Hi Sophie. I literally just watched the design phase of this project you posted awhile back and was anxiously waiting to see how your team would incorporate the Feng Shui elements. I discovered Feng Shui about five years ago and am amazed how it changes your life. I was curious how the client reacted to the final blue room since there is a chandelier over that round table and in the beginning of the video you mention there can't be seating under a chandelier. I'm sure the home was built facing a specific direction as well and there were strict orders to not have the front door open to a stairway. It is amazing how much you learn with Feng Shui! The final product is just spectacular. Expected nothing less.
This is probably my favorite of all your amazing designs...maybe because it's a mix of classical and contemporary design in your style of course.

OMG! The atrium is lovely, and a nice segue from outdoors with the natural references, but my favorite so far is the family room. I like how the mirrored bookshelves flow throughout the house, displaying beautiful objets. The feng shui is working. You had five challenging briefs, didn’t you? An international project, a pandemic project, a large scale project, combining English and Gulf, and feng shui and you killed it! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Love the video of this beautiful home. My 1970’s home has 16 archways. I’ve recently added crown trim and picture frame trim in the main area and I’ve been taking the design slow as not to do too much. It looks elegant and so beautiful and reminds this home reminds me of the vision I have for my much much smaller home that has some great features. I’ve done 90% of the construction myself. I’m so excited to see similar designs in your video. This is confirmation that I’m on the right track with bring some luxurious looking features into my home as I update it to give it a more timeless/ elegant look and feel.
