I think thrifting leather that can’t be bought anymore is respecting the fact that an animal had its life taken and you aren’t directly supporting the industry. I’ve been vegan over 2 years and my aunt gave me an old leather fanny pack of hers that she was going to get rid of and I still use it. I feel ok about it because I didn’t actually give money to a cause I don’t believe in
I totally agree. I work in a thrift store and if people don’t buy the clothes or bags made of leather, we have to throw them away because they can’t get recycled. So it’s also good for the environment.
Yess, girl! I am so happy that you talk about shopping ethically and sustainably! I don’t think there is anything wrong with buying fast fashion brands second-hand. It’s not putting money into the pockets of those companies, AND it’s keeping those items from being in landfills, so I am definitely a supporter of that!
everyone who I love on UA-cam is doing organisation videos and it's giving me so much life. Honestly nothing brings me more joy than tidying and organisation ahh 😍
I started tidying up after the first episode, like a month ago. My life changed SO much! The show, and Marie and her way of living helped me get rid of things I hadn't use in Years! Things I was just literally hoarding! I'm so happy she helped you too!!
First of all - I am LOVING how you have decided to shop sustainably. You have such a big influence on your followers so this will definitely inspire people to be more conscious about their purchasing habits!!! Secondly, I don't mind buying items from fast-fashion companies when they are second hand too!
Another really great serie to watch when you need to clean up is ConsumeD (also on netflix). Not that many tips, but really motivating. Sort of mini hoarders that get help to clean their house out.
For me, the biggest surprise was how easy getting dressed in the morning is. When EVERYTHING sparks joy, you can grab an outfit in about a minute and be really happy you did. No standing around thinking "Um...no...not that one...I don't know if that fits...yeah, no..."
“Hey guys it’s Cammie” right after that my day is fully made. Love u cammie. You’re one of the reasons I began to post on UA-cam again. I said ONE of so don’t go thinkin nowwww
I’ve actually used this technique a few times, and each time took me whole day for my closet. I still think of those moments as the biggest accomplishments of my life 😂
About fast fashion I don't by anymore. These past 2 years I developed a feeling that it's so expensive for no quality and by the way I don't look at it two month later! I feel like it's a waste of money. I definitely prefer to shop on second hand website because you can find amazing pieces for half the price, so I guess we can call it a win win for everyone. I live in France and hope threw it up will pop in Europe soon because it seems ethically pleasant! And I love your vibe don't stop your videos!!! 🧡
Thank you so much for inspiring people to go thrift shopping. I haven't bought a new item in years and I will never contribute to fast fashion again. In my opinion we could stop producing clothes all together because most of the stuff that is produced today is just straight up garbage and vintage clothes are so much better in any way. For me it's kind of insuring that if a shirt still looks cool after existing for five years, it will not look like crap after I washed it like three times. I think there's nothing wrong with buying fast fashion brands or leather second hand. I got leather doc Marten's second hand a few years ago and every time someone did say that they want some too now I just convinced them to buy them second hand with the super good argument that they are so much more affordable that way.
I was actually relieved to hear you talk about thrifting clothing made from animals because I had picked up a real-fox-fur lined, vintage, leather jacket with my friend from Goodwill the other day and I see nothing wrong with getting it from a thrift shop because I am not putting money into the industry that created it. Instead I am prolonging the life of the product and creating more of a sustained purpose for it, versus it being wasted by throwing it away. It’s exactly what the Native Americans do with the hides/fur of the animals they kill for food, nothing goes to waste. And I find it very intellectually sound for someone to thrift clothing made from animals because it’s recycling in the best way possible. It’s not advertising. And the explanation can always be told to anyone who asks why you are wearing fur or leather, etc.
When it comes to buying fast fashion second hand it depends. If it's on poshmark or other similar second hand sites like that I'm hesitant. If you think about it you are enabling who's ever buying that stuff to continuely buy more. If you buy it from Goodwill, a nonprofit thrift store, etc. That would help in changing the cycle of purchasing for multiple areas
I love this video it was so inspiring. And you dont have to feel bad or be apologetic for buying leather goods. If you like it then you should get it. Don't worry about what other people think just do you 😊
My husband and I are vegan as well and got these super nice restoration hardware leather couches from a thrift store. I look at it financially supporting that thrift store and not the original manufacturers. But i totally have a hard time with that dilemma too
i love this and thrifting, plus when you say the original price and then the discounted price you got it for, i always think of Matilda’s dad haha, fun!
I feel like you are right the leather is ok second hand I just wouldn’t flaunt it on socials because it might influence others to want it I love you camie
i think buying second hand leather/fur/etc. is fine when the item isn’t really branded because personally i don’t want to be a walking advertisement for a brand that sells that stuff, but just buying it second hand is still a lot better than retail :-)
Spent the first four minutes of the video waiting for your earring to drop 😂 talk about OCD because they weren't even. Awesome video btw my fav part was def Frank 😂
Hey! I understand why you've had the dilemma, I can see how buying leather second hand is 'better'...however for me purchasing leather wither it's direct or second would represent a demand for these product, which perpetuates the idea that these things are something companies should continue to supply. Maybe you could ask yourself this question: Is it necessary for me to use animals skin to look good? If the answer is no, it's not necessary, then I would pass the boots on/ or in this case not purchase leather again. I think there is no justifiable reason to use animal products or by products in this circumstance. I totally understand why you've purchased these boots as a better option...I guess you could just go a little step further next time and purchase an item has not exploited animals...and also people who create fast fashion. I hope this doesn't come off as confrontational or judgemental, we are all out here just trying our best! I love that you're encouraging us all to buy second hand! Thanks Cammie =)
I probably wouldn't have done them all at once, I would have got sections of clothes out, and organised them. The amount of clothes you have, Cammie, you definitely need to spread it all out over a few days to a week! Otherwise you do a bad job and your anxiety hits the roof.
I think it's great buy thrift, not wasting is more important than whether it's vegan. Like you said, it's already there. Buying it doesn't cause more non vegan to be made, just saves resources on what else you'd buy.
Cammie: "i wanna clean out my closet" *cleans out closet* Closet: *is still pretty full* Cammie: *proceeds to buy more long trousers than i even have to fill that closet up again* Dont worry tho and enjoy the new (and old) stuff ;)
I’ve been vegan for almost 3 years and I thrift leather. I feel like if someone who isn’t vegan picks them up they will tell other people how great that brand is and then someone else will buy leather from that brand but I’ll say, I only buy vegan leather and thrift real leather and it will give me an opportunity to promote ethical living
I understand plant based people buying used animal derived fashion products and home decor. I still own some Louie Vuitton items from my past, but won’t use them. I personally don’t use or wear leather suede silk wool and whatever other animal derived items I may have forgot to mention. I personally think that it is promoting wearing a dead animal. The thought of wearing a corpse makes me creeped out. That’s just my own preference.
I used to think like you, that getting used leather clothes was fine cause these animals were already dead anyway but in the end the animals that were used to make new leather clothes are also already dead... the issue is as long as people keep getting leather clothes, it doesn’t really matter where they come from, it will still mean there’s demand for this certain type of goods and companies will keep trying to fulfill that demand..same goes for so so many other things, not just clothes Plus like you said, by wearing these you’re actively promoting them whether you like it or not :/ (I still buy secondhand leather clothes for the record but I definitely feel very guilty about it)
not a weird topic. Super important topic. A very clear example of how this administration is inspiring hate and violence in many Americans. If this can happen to a famous, well off man, just imagine what can happen to others. Our community needs to come together. Our family/friends/allies need to look out for us. We need to not allow this type of extreme hate to continue and be tolerated in any capacity.
it's just weird seeing how it seems like no youtubers especially the ones in the LGBT community talked about this, heck I didn't even know about this till I had watched Philip Defranco's vid and yeah i totally agree @@CammieScott also reasons/ examples like this is why people decide to remain in the closet, but what had happen to Jussie taught me a valuable lesson and that's "Don't be afraid to be who you are in public, despite what other's think! Also thank you for replying I just wanted to make sure that people are aware what happened to Jussie Smollett and also if you have time, I would recommend watching Keiynan Lonsdale's videos on Instagram as he gave his two cents on the matter, which was beautiful!
amazing video i enjoy. wow your outfits looks amazing you aree so pretty stunning gorgeous Queen . fav youtuber for ever. your short hair looks amazing
clearly my dogs a star, right?
Yea he's so cute 😍
Wonder what his star sign is? 😂😂
going to do a video on this lol
Is that even a question?!
What do you thing of Daniela Calle?

So sad but so true.

"I want to shop less this year" - 2 minutes later *starts haul* - LOVE YOU CAMMIE 😂
lol I meant stop buying from regular stores. I'll thrift alllll day!
everyone who I love on UA-cam is doing organisation videos and it's giving me so much life. Honestly nothing brings me more joy than tidying and organisation ahh 😍
same!

I binged watched that, it was so satisfying I love it (I have ocd) 😂
Wait, I thought once you leave the closet you're not supposed to come back?
Edit: Thx y'all for the likes!!! ❤😘
For me, the biggest surprise was how easy getting dressed in the morning is. When EVERYTHING sparks joy, you can grab an outfit in about a minute and be really happy you did. No standing around thinking "Um...no...not that one...I don't know if that fits...yeah, no..."
3:35 Joanna checking herself out then Cammie fall onto clothes hahah best part

You’re one of the reasons I began to post on UA-cam again. I said ONE of so don’t go thinkin nowwww
not gonna lie...not a fashionista girl, but i LOVE seeing how excited/passionate you get about it. keep on it!

Obsessed. Love the gratitude built into the process.
it's been the best day in my life cause Billie eilish and Cammie scott are uploading a video in the same day!!!!!
Tidying up (the show) is amazing so glad you talked about it. Love you ❤️❤️

I kinda wished you had done a montage of the process.. but loved to see it anyway
me too but I just couldn't. It would have never gotten done. It's not how I work when I'm being efficient. I have to zone out and ignore everything.
@@CammieScott Yeah that's understandable. Loved the vid none the less, will watch again when I need to clean my own room haha
You should do another drinking game with amy and jo or one with cara like they do in cut , it would be awesome

Spent the first four minutes of the video waiting for your earring to drop 😂 talk about OCD because they weren't even. Awesome video btw my fav part was def Frank 😂
We missed you!!
Lol way to go, I'm too scared to even look at my closet😂😂😂
Clothing is not that terrifying to clear out, and I found it easiest to clear in my decluttering journey!
I remember the "spark joy" and "ching!"
Serious question, where did you sleep?
the couch lol
Well, I guess I should have imagined
I do the "cleaning" once in the year and there is always a lot that I do not use and I end up giving to other people.
Gosh you hurt my heart 😍😍 thanks for posting!
1 month hahaha very long ❤️❤️❤️❤️💛💛💛💛💛💚💚💚💚💚love you guys
What do you use for your jewelry organization? Where are those holders from?

Give Frank a nose boop from me. I just started following Frankies Insta.

Pippi GlockenCake I completely agree. The idea of wearing someone else's skin creeps me out.
All those "specifics" would give me anxiety. There'd be 50 takes of me accidentally saying Pacific instead of specific...

did you pray before doing the sparks joy?
this might be a weird topic to bring up but can you talk about your thoughts on the whole Jussie Smollett situation!

"Spent a lot of time in there" mood
Thread Up is a great idea. I have tons of clothes that are in good condition but I just don't wear.
i could have as many clothes as cammie and still sit in a pile of clothes crying about not having anything to wear
no matter how much cleaning needs to be done you can’t get me back in the closet
anyone know of a UK version of threadup?
3:20 i thought the mirror was just another pile of clothes XD
Love u Cammie
Should totally make a poshmark
amazing video i enjoy. wow your outfits looks amazing you aree so pretty stunning gorgeous Queen . fav youtuber for ever. your short hair looks amazing
I love you!
Franky is almost as adorable as you are🤗
