- The EZ-Flash flash cart series continues to evolve with the EZ-Flash Omega.
We'll do a quick unboxing and run through the setup process including the process to format your micro SD card and installation process for the EZ-Flash OS software and kernel update, along with taking a look at some of the built-in emulators for the original GameBoy, Gameboy Color and NES!

Nice video! I have a question: For example, if I'm playing Pokemon Emerald, can I save normally (like an original game) and then clean boot the game? Or how do I have to do that?
Does anyone know why my games play, but nothing saves? Any help would be much appreciated!
I’ve not come across this issue, but apparently there could be an issue with the EZ Flash itself. To diagnose this, boot your system with the Select button pressed to get into Safe Mode, then select Test Card. If you see SRAM Error, then it’s an issue with the cart. Give that a shot and let me know how it goes and I’ll try to do some more research on the issue.

Sadly, that’s the only thing I can’t share ☹️ That being said, there’s a fair few sites out there which you should be able to find pretty easily with a quick search.

Okay, let’s see if we can troubleshoot this for you. Did you download the later at version of the kernel and update or are you trying to run it straight out of the box?
@@HalfCircleForward i format my new sd card. I dowload the kernel and firmware by the ez-flash site. (Compressed by winrar). I passed the files on the sd card. Put the micro sd in the ez flash. Power gameboy advance sp pressing the button R. The kernel is updating. When the charging is finished it tell me " can not find kernel". I try to put roms in the sd but when i press A on the game nothing happen.

@@HalfCircleForward hey friend! I'm sorry, i finally can play the games, my problem was in the moment when i passed the roms to the SD. I don't extract from winrar. That's the problem. Now i extract the files from winrar and the game start without problems! Thank you for the kindness and patience.

While I’ve not tested Golden Sun myself, I just found a review online that said they tested both the original and the sequel and had no issues on the EZ-Flash. Hope this helps!
How would I go about inserting the sd card into my computer? Sorry, I'm new to this kinda stuff
No worries! If your PC doesn’t have a Micro SD card slot, you can grab a USB adapter pretty cheaply that will do the job. Hope that helps!
I followed all of the steps that you took but none of my games are loading. Is there a reason for that? Maybe to many games, or what?
I'm experiencing the same issue
When I try to change any of the settings, they disappear as soon as I leave the page. The only setting that sticks is the time and date. Am I doing something wrong?
I can’t think why it wouldn’t save your changes. It sounds like the battery is good, else the time and date wouldn’t stick. I’ll have to try and do some reading to see if this is a known issue.
@@HalfCircleForward found the fix. I needed to update the kernel from 1.02 to 1.03.
do the roms have to be unzipped in order for them to work on the ez flash?
Yes, make sure they're unzipped and aren't set as "read only" and you should be good to go. Hope that helps!

Make new Folders. Example: GBA > NEW FOLDER, and put your new games in this local.

only 7 out of my 60 games are showing up when I try to play games with this thing. Did everything right and I'm missing over 80% of my library is appearing
EDIT: Fixed the issue, thought the SD card just had to be exFat, it has to be Fat32

You say "DSi" a lot in this video. The DSi didn't have a GBA slot though
Yep, you’re right, I messed up when recording the audio.
Gba advanced with new shell, new larger battery and improved size screen and colours makes the dream retro portable. Combined with with this - is pure heaven! Thanks for the calm and detailed guide 👍

how come i can only hold a certain amount of rooms on my cartridge even though I have a 64gb sd card?
I took a quick look and at I came across some information that there was file per folder limit of 257. Try creating some sub-folders and see if that helps. Let me know how you go, and if you're still missing files, I'll try to dig into it a bit deeper.
@@HalfCircleForward actually i used simple the custom firmware and this fixed the issue. you should make a video about this issue I think it would help a lot of other people :D
Only thing missing is a fast forward feature so you can skip those lengthy game openings you've seen a billion times.

My GB and GBC games aren’t showing up on my EZ Flash? Can I fix it?
I have two EZ-Flash IV Omega cartridges bought in 2018/19.
One in use and one for reserv.
GREAT cartridge.
It works fine for the price and it fit ALL the GBA slots (including the DS Lite one).
Compared to the Everdrive "second version" that still has the problem that sticks out from the Nintendo DS Lite GBA slot.
I'm pretty partial to the EverDrive, but I have to admit that the EZ-Flash has impressed me. I do like the option that they gave with the replacement shell that fits the DS Lite, I thought that was a nice touch!

That's true.
At the end the Everdrive and the EZ-Flash are both good flashcarts.
The Everdrive has a better construction and hardware/software management.
P.S. Did you know that there is a "definitive edition" of the EZ-Flash IV Omega ?
The cartridge is now better under many aspects ... but "unfortunally" now the cartridge have the size of a regular GBA cartridge.
And now even the EZ-Flash sticks out from the GBA slot of the Nintendo DS Lite.
@@AlessandroCussino I’ve seen the Definitive Edition around, but I’ve not dug into it too deep. I did get a comment that the Definitive Edition doesn’t drain the systems battery as quickly as the Omega, so that a pretty big improvement. Maybe I’ll have to grab one to take a look!

Do you know how do I fix an issue I got with this? It says Micro SD Initial error on mine and I got a EZ flash for the GB/GBC. I formatted it properly based on the micro SD size and all, but yet it still says micro sd initial error.
I gotta be honest, I'm considerably disappointed in mine. I feel like the everdrive knock off I got for my GBC is better than this is. The in game menu only comes on sometimes, the sleep function only unsleeps when it wants to, I can't get the linked play to work, save states aren't reliable, and the plastic case feels incredibly cheap. Maybe I got a lemon, but while I was extremely satisfied with a 25 dollar flash cart loaded with half the GBC and GB library I dont feel like this offers the same value.
I haven’t had any issues with mine, but I will say that personally, I think the EverDrive has a better build quality. I’d definitely see if you can get a replacement, I think you may be right that you have a bad one.
I need a reliable source for roms my only place for roms is freeroms its working but other sites are not and wont download roms the way freeroms does. Help please im only missing a few games to download

It killed my GB micro from onmg having 1-2hr battery life to 45min with that flashcard
I'd heard that some folks were having issue with the batter life with the EZ Flash and that they'd fixed (or at least improved) this with the Definitive Edition. I play on a Gameboy Player, so it's never been an issue for me, but it's interesting to get some feedback on the battery life you've been experiencing, I'm sure there will be folks that will find this very helpful. Thanks for sharing!

This your cartridge can compatible with NDS Lite and Original NDS (2004). It’s not compatible with DSI

Hi can you help me fix my EZ Flash file for Pokemon Emerald Kaizo? I tried editing the Pokemon using another software which I have done before no problem, but now the file is gone, and now that I tried to fix it the game would not boot. any tips

Did you just recently update the firmware you’re using? If so, did you also do a kernel update? That could be the issue.
Can someone please help me? I can't save games whatsoever. My settings will not save on the cart. I toggle between settings and nothing such as savestates stays in place so I cannot use an add-on boot nor does an ordinary save within the rom show itself anywhere. I just want to save my games. Please help.

There’s a not about putting the cart into safe mode to test the card, it may be worth starting there to see if you have a bad cartridge. Hope this helps!
Mine gets stuck on the game boy logo with no text below it. already formatted the sd card. any thoughts?
That sounds like the cartridge isn’t seated correctly in the slot. Try making sure the pins are correctly aligned (try opening up the cart and seeing if the board is in the right position) and have no damage or corrosion. Hope that helps!

Can I delete the two text manuals I would assume they`re not needed because they just explain some stuff. o and the other text file I`m not so sure about this one because it looks like it has code.
It shouldn't be a problem to delete the manuals at all. I haven't taken a look at the offset file, but I'd probably leave that in place. Worst case scenario, you could always save a copy down to your PC and try to delete it, and if it causes any issues, just drop it back on there. Hope that helps!
This is great, thank you! I am having an interesting problem with mine. All is well BUT ONLY in GBA games I can not launch the menu no matter what I do? I have tried changing the menu trigger buttons, I have tried loading games with clean boot and with addons? I would love any advice.
Is there a way of exiting the game without restarting the console? That was a problem with the Everdrive.
If you head into the add-ons menu and toggle the RESET option, when you're in-game (using the boot with add-on function), you can press L+R+Start and it will reset the game to the kernel menu. Hope that helps!
I need help the part where it shows menu right where it says clean boot and other stuff on there mine doesn't even show cheats how do I do this I need help I'm trying to put pokemon creepy black cheat codes and I have no idea I just got my ez flash cart today too

EZ-Flash Omega or Everdrive X5 Mini?
That's an awesome question! I have to be honest, for what I use them both for, there's not much between them. Both do exactly what they say they'll do, are easy to set up, and so far I haven't had any issues with either.
The EZ-Flash does support cheats and save states straight out of the box, so that's a definite bonus, but I did read that the EZ-Flash pulls a little more power than the EDGBA, so if you're playing on a handheld, the battery life may suffer. I play on a GameBoy Player, so I haven't tested that out unfortunately.
I feel like the build quality of the EDGBA is a little better than the EZ-Flash, but if the cartridge is going to be living in your GBA all the time, I don't think that's anything to worry about.
Overall, I'm partial to the EDGBA, I think just because I have other carts in their series, but I think the EZ-Flash might have the edge for most just because of the added features it offers, and it's a little cheaper.

Yeah save states is definitely a bonus for the EZ Flash but battery is cut in half. Definitely a hard decision
I think the battery life issue would be my biggest concern of I was playing on the go. It's great if I can do save states, but if my play time is limited, that would be a real negative. I think that might be my deciding factor, but you're right, it's a tough call!

How come instead of a save state option on the menu the only thing I'm seeing is SLEEP and MENU?

That’s a great question! To be honest, I didn’t test Mother 3, but I did do a bit of reading and it seems to be working on the older version of the EZ Flash, so I don’t see why it would be any different on the Omega. Hey awesome video!, small note the games are being played natively. There is no emulator needed as the GBA have 3 dedicated chips on the mainboard each for specific playability of the old NES, GB, GBC games as also GBA ofcourse. I ordered mine now Thanks!.

Got it. Toggle the archive thing in Advanced next to Read/Write Hidden in file properties once you’ve hightlighted everything in your sd card. Then just uncheck it. Wait for it to be done applying. Then checkmark it and wait for apply again.
You basically have to do this if you want to add a new game everytime I think
