@@autumbreeze1129 I discovered it around the same time as you. I bought the season 1 and 2 DVDs but season 3 hadn't concluded yet. UA-cam had all of season three which I watched there - except for Magical Mystery Cure so I completely missed out on the Twilicorn drama. I think I did pretty well because being fully entrenched in the fandom watching the season 4 premiere and finale during their original airing with fellow bronies was quite the experience.
Regarding Silver's criticism of the use of the Dao symbol, specifically Celestia should be a male. Yang, which is the light, is also associated with the masculine side of the whole 'balance' thing. Regarding Gabriel's condiment joke, Pegasi relished in their freedom to fly the skies, Unicorns mustard their arcane might, and Earth Ponies struggled to ketchup.
(49:00) I have a theory: The CMC hiding together like that in this episode (when they don’t formally meet until later on) is they’re all fearful for their lives, so they just huddled together by happenstance. EDIT: Have to admit though these early episodes of Season 1 foreshadowed main plots and subplots very slowly seasons later.
Yeah, the alicorns weren't originally called Alicorns. They were referred to as Winged Unicorns. Alicorn is a fan-given name. Alicorn is actually the material that a unicorn's horn is composed of. Luna actually got her dream walking powers as Nightmare Moon. She got them while on the moon by a race that gave ponies dreams. Nightmare Moon got the ability from them, and send Nightmares to the ponies to attempt to make them fear Celestia. Originally, Lauren Faust's idea was that because Celestia was in charge of Luna's duties, she was responsible for the stars. Which means that Celestia orchestrated the release of Nightmare Moon herself. However this was never canonized, so... it's not canon. Technically, it's not confirmed that RD and AJ are together at the end. It was done with the intent to be ambiguous. If you want the AppleDash ship, it works. If you don't, you can make it work.
1:16:40 Well in a way Spike is like a son to Twilight. So I'm just going to assume Nightmare Night had kidnapped Spike in order to blackmail Twilight into surrendering, which ironically is exactly what she does in season 5, during the alternative time lines finale
I was going through the Bronies react playlist the other day and thinking it was a shame you guys never did Season 1... Lo and behold, the final(?) react for FiM will be the episode that started it all. Beautifully poetic

@@jareththegoblinking3191 All of G4 was digitally animated. You mean 3DCG animation, which is not inherently any better and is mostly used as a *cost-cutting* trick in eastern animation.
I remember why I watched it. It was on an either my sibling was watching it or they were watching something before and I was too lazy to get up and change the channel.
Fun fact: When first broadcasted, the first 2 seasons of the show were slightly desaturated compared to season 3 onward due to an error with the files when they were converted for broadcast. Later reruns and international broadcasts fixed the color. You can see it the most with Fluttershy.
I’m surprised none of you “Professional” Bronies mentioned or saw that before Applejack said “let go” you see her eyes look up and then down before telling Twilight to “let go” meaning that AJ was telling the audience that Twilight would be safe though I agree she should have told Twilight that she would’ve been caught by RD and Fluttershy I’m glad you are doing more Bronies react I’m hoping you guys react to more MLP G4 content before we all start G5 if you guys take requests I’d love to see you react to “She talks to Angel” or “Fake it to you Make it” I’d love to hear Losty’s reaction to the personalities Fluttershy creates
Saber: I'm here for life Me: *Brony -now-parent of a daughter who is just as much in love with MLP as I was and shows no signs of stopping* ...Same bro ;w; but at least we can carry on for the next generations!
AC mentioning that "yay" Fluttershy song, and then hearing it, opened up a door that had been closed for too long. It's nostalgia at its best, I miss being a kid, but I'm glad I can still enjoy what made me happy when I was young. Nothing's changed
0:56 it’s really wild that the Masterpiece Theater theme so closely follows the gen 4 theme song. Also; I can totally see Dusty as host/narrator of a PBS docu series. His delivery, tone and delivery are perfect!
They mention the lessons for the manticore and the laugh scene, but I was an actual little kid when MLP came out and those scenes taught me some good lessons. What I absorbed was be kind to people who need it and laugh away your fears (like the fears that don’t physically hurt you)
Gabe showing that old video of his is even more hilarious for me because, it wasn't until I rewatched that video myself last year that I realized it was him. I'd literally watched that video so many times and, even after meeting him in person back in 2018, it still didn't click until I rewatched that video last year that it was him in that video. And those hogs outside his and Claire's house took me by surprise... mostly because I suspected Claire might’ve just been playing a prank to lock him outside for a bit 😆
You remember the times you've spend watching the show, you remember the friends you made along the way. Everything will be fine. Your memories are floating back. I remember always looking forward to your guys reaction, whenever a new season started or finished and its so delightful to see you all once more. I do not know what the future will bring or what the next Generation will have in store for us, but I will be ready, for once again, we call upon the power of friendship!
Wow, nostalgia. I first saw this in 2011, after someone on Channel Awesome posted a playthrough of an MLP fangame based on a "spooky" MLP fanfic. Saw that video, didn't like being completely f**king lost, and looked for context. The rest is history. At a low point in my life, this fandom kept me going. Thanks for everything, everyone
I think the best way of fitting this together with the Daybreaker episode is that Celestia didn't go through the dreams for her thousand years (maybe she didn't know how), and the lack of princess therapy had a disastrous impact on pony mental health.
Just wanted to say that I joined the fandom late (2018), and didn't give Bronies React a chance until 2020, but when I did - I binge-watched all of it and had a blast. Some of the earlier reacts were kinda awkward, but after that? Tons of hilarious commentary. Hope to see plenty of reacts for G5!
16:27 i just felt a huge pain in my chest when that just happened. I haven't felt pain like that in a long time... Man, the Spike abuse really was doing a number on me when I was younger. Then again, he is the reason why I came to the show in the first place. 😁
To this day, many people may think that season 1 is one of the most boring seasons of mlp G4, but i for one don't think it's that bad i mean sure it definitely has it's ups and downs like all seasons do, but's still fun to watch!
I don’t think it’s bad, but it is my least favorite season of the show. For one, it’s the least impressive from a technical perspective. A lot of assets both visual and especially auditory are reused or just somewhat generic. I also feel as though this episode has one of the worst ratios when it comes to interesting/standout episodes. There are some really good ones in season one, but there are also a lot of episodes that you could easily skip either because they aren’t very captivating or because they have extremely predictable plots with nothing much to keep viewers entertained (looking at you “look before you sleep”). You could argue that later seasons also have this problem, but I think it’s far worse in season one. The later seasons have a massive upgrade in terms of both budget and general writing quality. Even if the main plots of later season episodes don’t grab you, the way the episodes present their plots and the shenanigans that the characters get into along the way are typically some top notch stuff. Here in season one, however, the staff didn’t yet know what they wanted the show to be in terms of tone and storytelling and they were limited by budget. In season one, if the actual primary plot of the episode doesn’t pull you in, then your probably not going to find much to enjoy. It’s got some good highs, but it’s also got some REALLY bad lows.
Tbh season one and two are my favorite seasons. I much prefer the standalone episode format rather than the serialization. I much preferred when Twilight was just a unicorn.
I've been in this fandom since 2010-2011 I believe and it's crazy seeing how far Gen 4 had come. Middle school me really loved this series and my love for this series grew while I was in high school (and graduated high school). I'm 21 (almost 22 because my birthday is at the end of next month) and I'm really hyped to watch MLP again with Gen 5 officially starting tomorrow with the movie!
I find it crazy still how long MLP went for. I was there for the beginning and the end, it started when I was in like the 4th grade... now I’m in my second year of college. Going through the old episodes is always a blast of nostalgia.
I don't know if everyone else noticed but like, it's so heartwarming seeing the reactors like, know each other so well as to predict how each other's reactions are and how certain scenes remind them of their bond, it's very sweet
29:00 - All those Apple names, but, as far as I could tell, not one Fuji Apple! (of course, that would require an Apple cousin bringing home an Asian war bride, or some such... ) 30:50 - I hope Spike got some, too. 32:44 - I've often wondered if someone has shown footage of the Wonderbolts to the Blue Angels, and how they feel about it? 36:18 - YES! Well said, sir!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INTRO BIT! /gen I've been a fan/follower of literally every one of you featured on the channel as well as the Bronies React series itself for YEARS, but recently as I've gotten older and more busy with other things in life I haven't found as much time to keep up with ya'll, so I had no idea Ready Player Dumb was a thing! Thank you so much for mentioning it, and I'll be sure to check it out!
I joined the herd when the show ended. Had I known about MLP sooner, I would've joined in a heartbeat. But now that I'm a brony, I was introduced to many things that I deemed impossible. Grimdarks, ponyfics, you name it. I currently have a best pony who I wouldn't want to replace in the world, that being Fluttershy. Simply put, MLP G4 is the best thing to have ever happened in cartoon history. And that will never change. Thank you for doing this for ALL of us. ❤️
I was nine years old when this MLP came out… It really *is* strange to think of everything that happened from then til now and how much time has actually passed. Such a great beginning to something that has culturally impacted time and us all forever. Oh, the nostalgia.
i love how in most seasons (until the last ones) all the background ponies were always the same, and many were copy pasted, but they actually fixed it after, they made original designs for background ponies, and that's rly nice! Cause everytime there's a design that's too specific for a background character in the back we already know this character will appear again, but they fixed it, and most shows just don't do that, and that's awesome!
Ah, the beginning of the series. Anyway, just two days until My Little Pony: A New Generation. And please do the Bronies React: The Mean 6 (Season 8 Episode 13).
This was so fun to watch! That Star Wars-style opening was a nice touch. I love listening to a lot of fun, interesting commentary with good points liberally sprinkled with quips and jokes. And this group of bronies is very good at that. Looking back at the earlier episodes makes me even more curious about all the unanswered questions about the show canon. Why Twilight's Element is called "Magic" instead of "Friendship", what Nightmare Moon was doing during her banishment, where Celestia disappeared to during the first episode, the original aim of Star Swirl's unfinished spell, how the royal sisters became alicorns, where Spike came from, how long a "moon" is, where certain locations like Tartarus or the Golden Oak library are on the map of Equestria, etc. Thanks for sharing this with us! ^_^
Damn, this video made me go back to 2012, when I started watching the show. Thinking back about all those years, I can't stop feeling both extremely happy for having witnessed the evolution of brony community, and extremely sad knowing the show's over. Add up that I've been growing up with the show, from 15 to now 24, watching this video makes me think back to how carefree my childhood was. Happier times, happier times.
Ah, the memories. I loved this video so much!! I remember watching the first episode on TV when I was younger. That was my first step into the MLP world
*I grew up with this series heavily, and I always wanted to be apart of it, very nostalgic. It's so crazy I am super proud of this channel and the creators.*
Man, as someone who got into the show during the first week of quarantine I remember watching this as a simple joke to pass the time, I had no idea just how influential and good this cartoon really was. From the fandom to the show itself, it’s just a whole experience and it’s kinda like a special time capsule of 2010-2013 for me in a way, even though I didn’t watch the show nor was I apart of the fandom back then, I can still remember back to a simpler time when I was still in elementary school. And I thought it was going to be like a Dora the explorer type show. that’s how low my expectations were but holy crap did it exceed them.
I'm with Jaxblade on this one. Twilight's "tell me she's not" moment at Giggle at the Ghostly won me over entirely. The show was meta enough to poke fun at itself and I loved it for that
Nightmare moon’s backstory comic (fiendship is magic series) shows that she was sent *onto* the moon where she met these little creatures whose sole purpose was to protect ponies from nightmares ever since the beginning of time, she ended up manipulating one of them into teaching her how to control dreams, then turned on them and kinda stole their powers with the intention of giving ponies nightmares forever. Makes us know that Celestia (and everyone else including Luna) had no idea that those creatures existed. I really like the idea of nightmare moon being sent to the moon and “stealing” the power, fucking up dreams for 1000 years, comes back to Equestria but gets reformed and she decides to use the power she took for the better of ponies as long as she lives
Wow I wasn’t expecting a new bronies react any time soon! Especially one going back to the very first episode wow. Can’t wait to watch when it premiers!
6:02 "You're nervicited!! It's like you want to jump up and down and yell 'Yay me!' But you also want to crawl up into a teeny tiny ball and hide at the same time"
I know it would probably be next to impossible and take FOREVER to do, but i would LOVE to have Bronies react do a video for every Episode of the series and be a watchalong for people. Their reactions to what happens and their responses are so interesting, funny and inciteful into their knowledge of the show and its characters its so entertaining.
Best Editing: 9/10 ✅ Best reaction: 10/10 ✅ Good collaboration: 9/10 ✅ This is a Bronies React classic! I love your best collaboration video and the G4 was the best! 👍 We are on our way to the new generation (G5)! Nice video! 👍🙌 10/10 ✅
13:34 I literally said the same thing 29:19 perfect Boomhauer imitation 50:58 I agree with Saber, one has to think there were plenty Nightmare Night's long before Twilight went to Ponyville. so how does no one else knoe who Nightmare Moon is?
I found mlp:fim in either 2013 or 2014 and rewatched the episodes until around the time season four came out, so watching these episodes after so long feels weirdly nostalgic.
Nostalgia from 2015 for me, I wish I could have discovered it earlier tho- It gave me so much, friends, inspiration to pursue my passion, and you guys that I've been following closely ever since.
I’m bad with years, but I joined the fandom a couple weeks before season three dropped, and it became my entire identity for a couple years. That was just as I was hitting puberty, and high school hit, I fell out of the fandom entirely. That was somewhere in the middle of season 7. Since then, I’ve been in a couple full relationships, I’ve had a kid, and I’ve learned so much about myself. Looking back, this show shaped my morals so much and the fandom allowed me to discover myself. I haven’t watched or even thought about the show in years, but I recently had a recording for someone and it was of one of the songs from Equestria Games. Ever since, it’s been popping back into my mind. Now I’ve finally got free time to sit and watch this video, I don’t know why I fell out of it. I am gonna rewatch the series and try to get back into the fandom, as now I am sorely missing that since of community and belonging that I only got when I was in it. Thank you so much for being such an important part of my childhood and I hope we can keep this community going for a long time
Thanks for all the MLP reactions throughout the previous decade! I didn’t have any friends that were into MLP so having a series that helped me to know what others thought meant a lot! I got into MLP during G3 at 5 years old, and continued loving it through G4 at 14 years old (the first episode I saw was Over a Barrel)! It’s been a huge inspiration to me wanting to write for children, and hopefully I’ll draw in a good adult audience as well! Let’s hope G5 is just as good!
The way I found out about MLP FiM is one Saturday I was watching Fraggle Rock on the Hub. Then Party of One came on. My mom was in the shower, and I couldn't find the remote. So I was stuck watching it. But as time went on, I became intrigued, so I looked up the rest of the episode on UA-cam, because they were chill back then. I liked it, and that's how it started. :-)
The first episode was great. I might have liked it less when I first started in 2014 but now I see how essentially perfect it is as an introduction to the characters and to the world.
It was actually confirmed in that same episode that it was Lunas cutie mark talent that gave her the ability to dream walk. She even says that she can't do anything because Celestia had her cutie mark.

Sigh. The memories.

@@baphometbby I recall that Celestia was originally going to be a Queen, but that was abandoned, not her being a male
I relish in that condiment pun.
Oh my God. XD
Given that Celestia should be male, my headcanon is that she is trans.
(49:00) I have a theory:
The CMC hiding together like that in this episode (when they don’t formally meet until later on) is they’re all fearful for their lives, so they just huddled together by happenstance.

I entered the fandom in 2016 and honestly, that was my gateway to fandom culture and internet culture im general. This react is going to make me feel old and cry because I remember where I was and what I was doing when I watched it.
I remember why I watched it. It was on an either my sibling was watching it or they were watching something before and I was too lazy to get up and change the channel.
Bruh I was five when G4 came out and now I’m nineteen! I still love this show!
Fun fact: When first broadcasted, the first 2 seasons of the show were slightly desaturated compared to season 3 onward due to an error with the files when they were converted for broadcast. Later reruns and international broadcasts fixed the color. You can see it the most with Fluttershy.
I love Jax's reactions with Fluttershy, it's hilarious.

1:07:12 OH MY GOD I AM SO GLAD HE MADE THAT REFERENCE! ONLY OG FANS WILL REMEMBER THAT VIDEO!
I knew he was gonna make that reference, I so knew it lol
AC mentioning that "yay" Fluttershy song, and then hearing it, opened up a door that had been closed for too long. It's nostalgia at its best, I miss being a kid, but I'm glad I can still enjoy what made me happy when I was young. Nothing's changed
0:56 it’s really wild that the Masterpiece Theater theme so closely follows the gen 4 theme song. Also; I can totally see Dusty as host/narrator of a PBS docu series. His delivery, tone and delivery are perfect!
Instead of second delivery- I’ll edit this to say: “and inflection are perfect”, Tried to edit original- can’t-MB
Seeing everyone recall their old memories Is so amazing!
It’s interesting to hear how people get into this series.
The passion’s quite amazing.
I think the best way of fitting this together with the Daybreaker episode is that Celestia didn't go through the dreams for her thousand years (maybe she didn't know how), and the lack of princess therapy had a disastrous impact on pony mental health.
Perhaps not even Luna knew how to walk through dreams until like S3
Just wanted to say that I joined the fandom late (2018), and didn't give Bronies React a chance until 2020, but when I did - I binge-watched all of it and had a blast. Some of the earlier reacts were kinda awkward, but after that? Tons of hilarious commentary. Hope to see plenty of reacts for G5!
Glad you gave it a chance and got to enjoy it. Hope you have fun with us on the next generation!

To this day, many people may think that season 1 is one of the most boring seasons of mlp G4, but i for one don't think it's that bad i mean sure it definitely has it's ups and downs like all seasons do, but's still fun to watch!
omg your everywhere on anything related to mlp. everytime i scroll in the comments of any mlp video, your always there lol.
Agreed. I consider Season 1 as a warm up to what will we be expecting in future episodes.
@@jordanjonescelestialwaffle1698Pardon the question but, You do realize that it doesn't really matter that he's everywhere right?
I joined the herd when the show ended. Had I known about MLP sooner, I would've joined in a heartbeat. But now that I'm a brony, I was introduced to many things that I deemed impossible. i love how in most seasons (until the last ones) all the background ponies were always the same, and many were copy pasted, but they actually fixed it after, they made original designs for background ponies, and that's rly nice! Cause everytime there's a design that's too specific for a background character in the back we already know this character will appear again, but they fixed it, and most shows just don't do that, and that's awesome!

Some.of it had the peace walker theme
Been a blast of a ride with the herd, this is such a great way to close it & move on to more off-canon based progress of the cult. Thanks AC!
Damn, this video made me go back to 2012, when I started watching the show.
Thinking back about all those years, I can't stop feeling both extremely happy for having witnessed the evolution of brony community, and extremely sad knowing the show's over.

Is it just me, or is this fandom getting a revival?? Like we all collectively decided to rewatch the show recently for no reason??
A. Covid gave everyone time to rewatch and binge shows.

I'm with Jaxblade on this one. Twilight's "tell me she's not" moment at Giggle at the Ghostly won me over entirely. The show was meta enough to poke fun at itself and I loved it for that
That was my favourite joke when I first saw these episodes as a kid.
I kept rewinding it over and over.
i know this is off topic but i can't stop staring at saber's bionicles ahhh i always wanted the original ones! it's so cool he has those!

I found mlp:fim in either 2013 or 2014 and rewatched the episodes until around the time season four came out, so watching these episodes after so long feels weirdly nostalgic.
Nostalgia from 2015 for me, I wish I could have discovered it earlier tho-
It gave me so much, friends, inspiration to pursue my passion, and you guys that I've been following closely ever since.

Friendship Games: Am I a joke to you?
