I wasn't a fan of the blue when I first saw it. But...... someone pointed out that dogs are able to see blue. I love that for Cruz! Second, when Chrome showed the blue one with ladders, roof rack and the AMAZING light bar. That vehicle is AMAZING!
Ive had a 16 sprinter 4x4 a 4x4 econoline and a sportsmobile econoline 4x4 pop top...the High roof mercedes wasnt as capable off road but loved it One caveat Not all mercedes dealerships work on em and joe blow small town mechanics wont touch them. rust became an issue on mine so get it rust proofed Loved mine Enjoy.
chrome i think a new van is a great thing for you, only advise i can give you is "don't bite off more than you can handle" finance wise ability wise etc! you have the shop expeneses, van expenses, etc
Crome. I’ve been following you nearly 6 years now. I remember you sharing that the reason you got into van life was to stop the high cost of rent (housing expense). I’m thinking a new van now puts you back into that same scenario. You know your financial situation. It seems you need to think all things through. Wish you the best in making this very large commitment.
I've been full time in my 2018 Sprinter since 2018...other than normal oil/filter/fuel filter changes and one normal transmission full service I've had ZERO maintenance/repair cost in 130,000 miles.
A couple things I still think you should consider. Mercedes dealerships aren’t as common in rural areas and if you do break down you can’t just go to any mechanic. You travel in rural areas a lot. Transit you can get worked on most anywhere. Parts may take a long time to get too. Just a couple of things to consider you didn’t mention. 😅

During that time, put aside the amount of the vehicle payment each month too. I have purchased brand new a couple of times, in both cases reality kicks in with about the 3d or 4th payment. Better you than me Chrome, I suffer analysis paralysis it would take me a lifetime and a half to make this decision but it sounds like you are checking everything and you are doing your due diligence.
Wait until the 31st to get the best deal. You still have time to hit a different dealership who might be hungrier to close the deal to finish off their year. Then enjoy. The facts we all know about are the insane costs of repair work on Sprinters and that their engines are not strong enough on hills especially with snow when your van is loaded and to find certified dealerships specifically not to void the warranty are few and far between in Canada and the US. Kage’s van is a doulie and he is an electrician and that makes a big difference. So yes, the pro in your specific case is you have competent people around you that can help with repairs and you can film them. Anyways, seems you have done your research and made up your mind, you have thought of some work arounds, we respect your decision because it is your amazing life, seems like you are super excited and all we want for you is your happiness and we are super excited for you and your channel. I’m excited for you. The big blue one is a little tacky for my taste, but I agree it would stick out in a thumbnail. The gray-blue is wonderful, and the red is gorgeous. But whatever you get has to make you happy because you’re gonna be living in it and looking at it for a really long time.
He definitely does not park stealthily. His vehicle is FAR from stealth and is clearly labelled as a YT van and it looks like someone lives in it. The only thing he does is park late and leave early, but that has nothing to do with stealth - thats just being courteous. ✌️

We bought a Ford Transit because the Sprinter cost a ton for oil changes and maintenance. We love our self-built Ford camper van. Good luck with whatever van you decide on! Having a new van will be exciting.
I’ve been full timing in my 2022 Ford 350HD AWD for the past 27 months. No problems. Dealers are in every small town I go to if anything needs repairs. Mercedes, only in the big cities. If you break down in the boonies and need dealer service, Mercedes parts or computer diagnostics to get it running again it will often be a long tow to the dealer in a big city. Part costs and diagnostics are typically much cheaper in the transit. I love the power and the 10 speed tranny. It’s often off road and weighs 10,700 lbs loaded. Got larger all terrain tires and van compass lift. Drives great.

I own a 2012 Sprinter 2.1 litre 4 cylinder diesel I have lived in it full time for the last 6 years in the UK. It's done 152000 miles, doesn't use oil between 10,000 mile changes and has had one clutch and a rear drive shaft. I have a mechanic who only deals with Sprinter vans and a oil and filter change costs around £120 using Merc parts. I love it, it drives beautifully and I am getting approximately 30 mpg fully loaded. I wouldn't buy any other type of van. Good choice Cruz ! And Chrome.

Chrome the email you read from cage, is the old model of sprinter. Also 3.0 V6 diesel engine, the best engine you can get, for a sprinter. The van you’re buying is the new model with the 2.1 R4 engine. This is much more headache. But you’re old enough to make this decision. I don’t know what you get in canada. Personally I choose the Iveco Daily. It sized like a sprinter, but it is technically a small truck and therefore super simple. Also much stronger than the Sprinter.

Snow and Curt live in their sprinter van. They have a screen door to let in fresh air and keep the kitties in. There is a shower and toilet but the clincher is the laundry chute. They were just in Normandy France.

CHROME I said it on your livestream, all vehicles have their pros and cons. It's up to you and your personal choice based on all the research you've done. Just follow your heart and buy the long wheel base blue sprinter and to heck with all the negativity towards the sprinters. On a side note my friend who owns a large oil delivery company uses the Sprinters as their service vehicles and he said based on his needs and the research he had done the Sprinters were the way to go in his scenario. I can't wait to see this build from start to finish!! And I think Danika picked out a really rad color and I think you'll be extremely happy with the blue once you add your own touches to it.✌🏼✌🏼

Chrome make sure to check dealers a little further away, when I got a brand new car in 2005 I got the Ford from Medford MA. Store but I called a whole bunch of other stores and found the same car color and everything except the tires were better in the car in Plymouth MA. Store and their car were priced at 4k less well the Medford store price matched and still gave me the upgrade on the tires. So make sure you call around to dealers further out. 1st owner since new in 2018 , just regular maintenance and a few small things .

There is a reason that Fed Ex, Amazon and most other delivery companies don’t use Sprinters anymore.

The disadvantage of long wheel base is the inverse of long rear overhang: the belly of the vehicle will rest on short but high bumps.

Just follow your heart and buy the long wheel base blue sprinter and to heck with all the negativity towards the sprinters. On a side note my friend who owns a large oil delivery company uses the Sprinters as their service vehicles and he said based on his needs and the research he had done the Sprinters were the way to go in his scenario. I can't wait to see this build from start to finish!! And I think Danika picked out a really rad color and I think you'll be extremely happy with the blue once you add your own touches to it.✌🏼✌🏼

That and it’s only a four-cylinder Mercedes talks it up big time but unless you have a trailer you’ll find out ha ha ha

Chrome make sure to check dealers a little further away, when I got a brand new car in 2005 I got the Ford from Medford MA. Store but I called a whole bunch of other stores and found the same car color and everything except the tires were better in the car in Plymouth MA. Store and their car were priced at 4k less well the Medford store price matched and still gave me the upgrade on the tires. So make sure you call around to dealers further out. When you know chrome you know it has to be I know you won't regret it you could get a lift kit put on so when you need so you can lift the back end and you can level it out when you need to sleep so I'm told I don't own a van myself but if I did I definitely go for a sprinter🎉 happy birthday cruise 🎂🐾🐾 woof woof 🐾🐾
