The Acolyte trailer recently dropped to terrible reactions from Disney fans and Star Wars fans, and this is the latest in a long line of Disney shows and films to flop with audiences. However this is bad timing as coming off the back of a terrible year for Disney in 2023 they wanted to make changes and improve this year however now with The Acolyte shaping up to flop along with Echo also flopping it seems Disney are making the same terrible mistakes they made last year. Even in good shows like X-Men 97 they still make some stupid mistakes which make a great show into just a good one. All in all Disney are once again in a bad position.

As a black woman, I genuinely want to know: Does Kathleen Kennedy and Disney hate white men? There seems to be less and less of them in every new show or movie I’ve seen. If this is something even _I’ve_ noticed then I can only imagine how the rest of the fanbase must feel. It’s not inclusion when you are intentionally excluding and eliminating a group that was once there. They’re fighting “discrimination” by creating new discrimination issues. Seems weird to exclude white men in every product when they make up 90% or more of your hardcore fans but okay I guess. In the words of Tony Stark: “Not a great plan.”
It's called payback. Every other group feels validated by this false massaging of their ego's.
Also Star Wars was never meant to be all this. It was about a fallen man and his son.

If the final product for the Acolyte ends up being well produced, that shows a level of competency in story telling, then I will not hesitate to give Leslie the credit she deserves.
However, judging by the recent interviews, it appears she is almost expecting instant praise for just hiring a "diverse" cast and being gay herself.
Simply existing doesn't automatically mean you can make great Movies / TV Shows. Ethnic background and sexuality is irreverent but Disney are hell bent are preaching to us that it is the ONLY thing that matters.
The OG X-men was already about the socially rejected fighting about what’s right, Stan Lee said so. There’s nothing in and of itself wrong with that.
The difference is that if Stan Lee met someone who said “eh (insert character) was mid/pretty bad” he wouldn’t have launched into a cry baby virtue signaling tirade about how you’re a bigot or a phobe. He would probably just smile and nod in that charming way he had, and keep it pushing.

Observe.. out of the 12 children in the Jedi lesson, 2 are aliens (one without eye lids apparently) 2 boys and 8.... yes 8 girls. Not 50/50 boys and girls or 40/60 boys and girls, but 20/80 boys to girls ratio, not to mention no white boy among the two. This, in my mind is a perfect representation of the current Disney/Lucasfilm/Marvel Studios/Hollywood mentality that is corrupting good story telling and characterisation for contemporary liberal elite identity politics.

@@j.i.nthenobody54 Well, I'll answer that by stating.... I never complained about the Underworld or Resident evil film franchises revolving around a female protagonist. Or how Ralph Fiennes character in 'Strange days' had a strong black female bodyguard in the form of Angela Bassett. Or how in the first Blade film how Blade's 'love interest' was a black female Doctor who created a biological weapon to help combat the Vampires and indeed destroy the main bad guy at the end, or how Ripley was the lone survivor in Alien. Nor have I ever complained about having to assume the control of the various female protagonists in the Resi Evil games. I can go on, but end by saying that the reason I and many many many others have with this 'imbalance' of female to male characters in modern franchises and story telling is that is obviously forced and not at all organic. There is an animus towards white men in current society reflected in our so called entertainment which I am opposed to, in exactly the same way that I would be opposed to if that animus was towards women of any demographic. Equity is not equality if a level playing field is your goal.
My question is why people care so much and keep repeating themselves?! Disney isn't listening.
Remember when subtext was a thing? Like the X-men were obviously alegories for lgbt and other minority groups when they were made, but they focussed on that subtext.

6:35 - Regarding X-Men 97's aesthetics, might I add that they not only retained the original look and style, but they IMPROVED the quality of the animation and art itself. Try to rewatch the original X-Men 90s cartoon -- I never got to finish it because even as a kid I found the animation to be super janky and lazy back then. Not so with what I've seen with X-Men '97. They're doing everything right so far, and I hope they stick the landing at the end of the season and do not compromise it with identity politics.
I think it's waaaay too early to say the Acolyte's going to be bad. It's written by people who have worked on critically acclaimed shows like Mr. Robot, and it's giving us action we haven't really seen in a while or at all. I feel like people see a female protagonist and call it woke, the show could be bad but right now it looks kind of cool.

To be fair - The acolyte was already finished by the time Igar finally started to course-correct. After all the money they sank into this show it'd be dumb not to at least give it a chance. They can always take the write-off later. It's like James Gunn inheriting The Flash. Aquaman 2 and The Blue Beetle.

Frankly, I never watched the original cartoon myself I grew up with x-Men evolution so I wasn’t the biggest fan of the animation style but the story seem decent so far
They must be really worried, having to release this stuff after Dune 2. Most of all, it feels totally empty and made by some PR team. How can I take seriously SW anymore after watching Dune 2 man?

In 1977, the Star Wars trailers on TV forced me to watch the movie, Star Wars Episode 4, A New Hope. There is more action, more life and an introduction to the main characters in those trailers than any Disney SW movie or TV show. Just watch them. They are exciting. It made me watch the movie. And boy was it an event. Now Disney has muddied down the SW universe to nothing more than a crummy show destined for the SciFi Channel.
Except it wasn’t called “Star Wars episode 4 a new hope” until years later. Nice try with your lame comment.

In all honesty I feel bad for the Squid Game Korean actor who probably joined the cast excited to be part of Star Wars. Unfortunately it was in this hot mess of Kennedy creation.
X-men 97 is great because they are sticking to source material and keeping Cyclops remaining the badass leader like he is in the comics and toning down Wolverine.

That new show that is coming to Disney+ is DOA. At this point. I want a rated R movie based on this infamous historic figure from the 15/16th century titled. The Blood Countess Elizabeth Bathory.
oh that would be cool. Two servants male and female are to the countess's castle and horror happens. I am sure with disney's current ideology they would make it a musical with the countess as the hero and all the abused men as the villains. No woman can ever by depicted as anything less than a perfect goddess.
I'm not talking about some female vampire. It's actually based on an infamous historic figure from the 15/16th century her name is Elizabeth Bathory if you read her story and why she is called the Blood Countess it explains all of the absolutely horrific antics that she did to young women. And of course the movie should either be directed by

@@vincebravo674 I know who you are talking about. This is a historical factual monster but i would never trust this story to disney. When facts and lore do not fit the "message" the message wins. And don't expect a big name experienced director either. Think stunning and brave women of color, hopefully gay, with no experience who knows nothing about the source material. That is todays disney. Pitch to some one who knows how to make Profitable films if you can find such a person in Hollywood today.
I would say the director of 2023s horror hit Evil Dead Rise's Lee Cronin or 2006s Pan's Labyrinth's director Guillermo Del Toro to handle the movie project. If that movie comes out it will way more matured then Evil Dead Rise, Hostel Part 2, and Cannibal Holocaust.
Was Echo supposed to be a villain origin story? She has zero remorse of her past which involved killing countless people. Her victims had loved ones who went through the same trauma she did when her father was killed. Echo put her family and hometown in harms way without hesitation. Her initial motivation was to become a crime boss i.e “Queen.” She sends a large bomb via train to explode without knowing who would be hurt for Christ sake. The only time her disability hinders her is when she got her leg stuck on the train car connector. Having a prosthetic was probably a positive in that situation because she would’ve been screwed if her actual leg was stuck. Her character had zero arc and never showed her over coming the adversity of her disabilities. Not to mention the fight choreography made zero sense when her enemies could’ve shot her numerous times. Her powers were also the lamest I’ve seen. She can magically give her cousin and her 80 year old grandma super strength at the most convenient time without ever doing it before? Her comic book power was much cooler despite it being too similar to Taskmaster’s power. Echo was an unlikeable character who’s writing makes her a villain while the filming and scene juxtapositioning tries to make some small town hero despite having no love her for the town she spent a small fraction of her life in.

The Acolyte looks terrible and I'm going to skip it. I'm tired of Disney's nonsense and generally ignore all of their new releases, although I'll try the new X-Men animated series. I still like going to the movies; Dune 2, Godzilla Minus One, and Oppenheimer were really good. I'd never waste my money on another Marvel or Star Wars movie now since Disney has destroyed those franchises.
There is no Star Wars after the first three movies. They are all just fever dreams that do not exist in my universe!
I see the diversity cast as I've seen the tokens of the past and I feel sexist/racist. It's sad. I'm from minority / marginalized group of people myself, we've had great people that managed success all by themself in the wide wild world (Melania Trump,..). They could bring the best movie or series and I would dislike because of the implied racism / sexism.
Actual examples of Preaching and Bad Writing in X-Men 97 would have gone a lone way towards making this video worth watching. Instead you are as guilty of "telling not showing" as Marvel and Disney.

Also there is barley any plot known. All we know is tne trailer, and the woman with, "history" so untill the show is out, I disagree with the sheer extent of criticism.
The Acolyte was greenlit years ago when the Wokeness was peaking. This show and others that were spawned during the height of Woke will continue to hit the airwaves in 2024 because it takes time to write and produce a show. I expect more $$$ losses due to these lingering shows or movies in 2024 and possibly 2025 before there's a correction.
Not gonna lie, the 1st 2 episodes of Xmen 97 was exactly like the OG version, which had the same messaging. I'm excited for the 3rd episode.
