not that weird if u know history. They were expected to eventually buy America, and own the Earth. If Japan's economy does find another miracle, can it repeat the 1980s level of dominance or is there to much competition nowadays?" I do not think westerners possess adequate perception to feel "not weird" because the reality is based of the economical and military coloniztion of the US on Japanese soil after ww2, never vice versa.
I live in Texas and I can confirm that this exactly how our day to day life is without the zombies. Also Texas is just better America so it makes sense that Japan would buy Texas to create rocket powered fire truck gundams and shotgun katanas. California could never
Japan-ized America, set during the Showa era? And this happened, not due to some alternate-history shenanigans involving Japan winning WWII (the most obvious route to take!), but because Japan really did become an economic superpower during the 80s and bought out America? Fascinating concept! Though the devs are Chinese..? They're gonna have to juggle the cultures of two different nations, from a very specific era, that sounds like a pretty tall order!
it's going to work very well in a weird way, and the Chinese cultural reference hidden in between the line like inside jokes only Chinese born during 80s to 90s would understand.
Plot twist, during Sengoku period, Japan had a chance to Modernize/Westernize, they built their own galleons which managed to cross the Pacific Ocean twice, and docked on New Spain. If the Imperial and Shogunate didn't fear the Christian rebels, there would be a big chance that they would land and colonize California since Spain had no interest on the lands during that era, and desperate in seeking a trading partner in Asia (They gave Japanese diplomats and traders special treatment during that 2 years.)...
I really appreciate the video description having the technical info. I was scared this was a live service or something, but it being a single player RPG means I'm gonna have my eyes on this thing. This looks hilarious.
There is nothing historically accurate about it, and as the developer says, it was created completely out of stereotypes. So why do I feel so nostalgic?
Because that is not what the developer meant. The game was developed based on their childhood memories of Japan and Japanese culture, so that is why you felt the game accurate and nostalgic.
