That remark doesn't do Rachid's performance full justice : flawless refers to one's technique.
Rachid also brings a lot of artistry with his homourus expression, playfullnes and the occasionaly naughty wink at the audiance.
I’m no expert but it seems like women seem to naturally do this type of dancing better, it’s just the way they move but this man moves like a woman. (Please nobody attack me. I’m just going off of what I’ve seen personally)
I disagree : male bodies have different proportions than female bodies.
Women have wider hips, breasts, a more pronounced buttocks and tend to carry more bodyfat. Which is great because there's more to hold on 2 :).
In belly dancing eomen emphasize what they got. Or simply speaking : they shake their thang :).
Male belly dancers approach things differently. They are taller and have a slim figure, so they emphasize that. Making "waves" flow through their body (Morbus) and quicker twists with their hips, just as we see here with Alexander. He does a FANTASTIC job at combining waving his arms and body with quick twists of his hips.
I was taught (many years ago) that the real challenge of belly dance was in the control of isolated areas of the body. I have never seen a dancer with this level of proficiency, even in professional troupes. Breathtaking!

I never saw a male belly dancer, I looked for curiosity but i was enchanted . This young man transported me and for a moment i forgot I was in the USA midwest and I was a guest of the royal palaces of Thebes and Memphis, he entertained Ramses and enchanted Nefertiti, i went to the courts of the Kedivas and Pashas, visited the tents of the Beys and the oasis of the silk road... unbelievably beautiful and mesmerizing.... Thank you for taking me on beautiful trip....

It's a shame that society has gone in the direction where men aren't "supposed' to be sensual in this way. Why should this kind of sexy dancing be reserved for women? Look how GOOD he is. He's incredible. This is strong and sexy, it's feminine AND masculine. Maybe one day we'll stop being so hung up on traditional gender roles and just let people live and experience pleasure as they will. Почитайте историю любого танца, любого народа, у каждого народа движения используемые при танце, повторяют движения используемые в бою. Есть книга старая, времён советов, там очень хорошо описаны танцевальные движения того или иного народа, которые по мере взросления юноши переходят в боевое искусство.

Этому научиться нельзя ! Это у них на генном уровне передается ! Или умеешь или нет ! Фантастика просто!
И все таки это женский танец, в исполнении мужчины выглядит как клоунада, пародия. Вот если бы он исполнил танец мужчины, воина - это было бы супер, у него прекрасные данные, артистизм.

I’ve watched about 40 belly dance videos so far and this one is literally in a league of its own. Other videos with millions of views look amateur compared to Rachid’s dance. I’ll keep watching more videos and will update this comment if I find another dancer that can match this performance.

There have always been male belly dancers. The female dancers were most popular with European colonials. So there are more of them.
I've been seeing them at greek Restaurants since the 80's. You can usually request ahead of time. Always a treat for birthdays!🤗😆

@QTee Yes, thats what i always thought too, i didnt know there were men dancing this before reaching this video. Some scholars say this dance was made for both, females and males, i dont really have my own knowledge about it. For long years i was a king of irritated by the fact that most of female dancers that was seeing were concentrating only on movements (basically shaking) and i was always missing to see a proper choregraphy, something like a nice story, even a light one...but something more than just shaking, it was like an insult brought to the proper bellydance to me. I discovered recently that the choregraphy thing had developed more in this field in the last years (probably last decade), when males got more involved.
Wow, I'm so impressed, never haved seen someone to have such control over their muscles like he's doing it! It must have been hard work! Love his performance too!
People should be educated better to recognize how much work is behind this!

Изначально восточный танец исполнялся только женщинами для женщин на женской половине,был сокрален, а выходить на обозрение стал постепенно и сначала его исполняли только мальчики(юноши)наложники для правителя(по аналогии как в Греции в театре все роли играли мужчины)
Он наверно профессиональный танцор( в красных шароварах), был же СССР Эссенбаев,тоже професс.танцор

As a lifelong dancer and award-winning Middle Eastern performer and teacher for 30+ years I can see that this young man has obviously been influenced by our beloved Rashid of San Francisco, who left us more than a decade ago. Rashid and I were both Salimpour-trained and taught with both Jamila and Suhaila. The precise isolations and his posture and especially hand placement are nearly exact replications of Tom/Rashid. Nice work!

Sometimes it is not that they are copying someone else's work, but that culturally [can be taught to them by their Mother or Father or Grandparent] it is passed down through generations. It can be a very special form of dance and sometimes they teach the King's children these forms of dance. Don't know how masculine it is considered in his culture but it sure looks exotic.

@@terebina8946 and @Jasmin Fellari.. belly dance did not come nor originated from the harems of sultans. this is a misconception about this dance. of course women that resided in harems did dance, because this was something natural to do for entertainment and celebration. but belly dance or the real name 'Oriental dance' is much older then Harems of sultans. it originated from different style of middle eastern traditional and folkloric dances dating back from the ancient Egyptians. That this dance is to seduce men is also a misconception and this comes from the old movies and how they portrait the belly dancer as seductive or the one that steels husbands. this has nothing to do with real oriental dance. So nobody has to be seduced with this dance. it pure for the public to enjoy like the dancer is doing. take some time to study a bit about this art form and enjoy it.
@@Jasmin-ux5ho it's not confusing and belly dancing is not feminine. It was mainly practiced by womne before but it's not exclusive for women. That's like saying that any field which is mostly dominated by men is exclusive to men and no women should interfere!! Nope.

Wow! I clicked on this video on a reluctant whim. I have seen many videos and live performances of talented women dancers, so I was reluctant to watch a male dancer perform this dance. (I should mention that I have seen other male dancers perform before and some were quite good.) This man blew me away! He is so talented and truly knows the dance isolations, the cultural moves, and the rhythms of this dance. My hat is off to him!
