You can do this at your house for free. Take the slide off, take out the extractor, take a file and file down the rear nubs almost all the way off, test fit the optic, you’ll have to file down the front nubs a little bit for the optic to sit flush. Use the screws that holosun provides with optic, screw them in with the optic on the slide and you’ll see them bottom out where the extractor goes, file down the screw and keep checking to make sure it will clear on the right side. Tighten down bolts and mark them with a sharpie to make sure they aren’t backing out. Done

I filed down the rear Lugs completely, I also had to file down the front lugs to some degree because they were too tall to fit into the recessed pockets of the 407k and 507k. Cut the screws myself, and the beauty of not using an adapter plate is, my iron sites will legitimately have a lower 1/3 Co witness so you can use both the factory iron sights as well as the Holosun.

i really hope that holosun will soon come up with the micro scs version for g43x mos which will mount directly to it sans any plates and will co-witness with stock 43x mos sights. like it now does on the g19 mos... or alternatively, to make the eps carry version for g43x mos that will also mount sans any plates like the current eps carry does to sig p365,...
i have the scs on my new g19 mos and love it but out of any models currently offered, my favorite glock is the the 43x mos model and although the 507k i have on it already is a very good rds in its own right, it's not a great one and falls short when compared to the scs as designed for g19 mos and the eps carry as designed for p365... it sits a bit high, the required use of a mounting plate also compromises it somewhat with regard to overall stoutness of the mount and i can't use factory 43x mos sights while the 507k is mounted...
i'm thinking of swapping the sights for suppressor height ones but this will still not solve the 507k sitting rather high on a subcompact gun like the 43x and i'd like to have the peace of mind to know that my g43x mos' rds is mounted as solidly and stoutly as possible... also, holosun imo should make an eps or eps carry version for a direct mount to the g19 mos... i'd love to have a compact enclosed rds on my other g19 that doesn't require a mounting plate nor suppressor height sights...
holosun is currently my only choice in rds for handguns because of their circle dot reticle option and the fact that batteries are replaceable without the need for the removal of the rds from the slide/gun...holosun's rds optics might not be the sturdiest, duty rated, red dots on the market but they're certainly clear/sharp and tough enough for my purpose and those 2 options offered simultaneously on all of their optics trump any other brand option for me...
naturally, a huge part of the problem with choosing a red dot brand/model [or a handgun] would be solved by all rds and gun manufacturers via simply agreeing among themselves on using a single [or only 2, 1 each for large and small handguns], uniform optics type mount base and all the red dot manufacturers could then finally offer all of their optics from now on in 1 or 2, universal [direct] mount types...
this might be a 'captain obvious' type of a statement but rds makers need to get together and choose one, or two at most for large/small guns, universal footprint and the trademark/patent holder/rds manufacturer of the one they'd agree upon should then also relinquish any desire for charging others any patent/trademark fee for anyone else to use such... better yet, they should collectively design a new, super sturdy universal footprint so there would no longer exist that ego factor of one maker having a superior footprint design status over others... this would benefit everyone and significantly save everyone concerned [customers, rds manufacturers as well as gun manufacturers] a lot of money as well, not only in a short run but even more so in the long run... it's simply the only viable 'good for business' type of move yet for some reason we're still dealing with numerous [at least 4 main types], incompatible footprints about 27 years after a first type was standardized around 1996... the rds industry needs to take a large step and agree upon a universal standard footprint...

Yes, you’ll have to make a small modification on your gun, but it’s well worth it if you ask me. Allow me to just paste a reply that I gave to another guy here:
“I wouldn’t use an adapter plate: the short screws are a major failure point and you won’t be able to co-witness with your factory sights.
Modifying the Shield RMSc footprint is pretty easy for any gunsmith or anyone who knows how to use a mill drill machine (some uncle Cletus will use a file): remove the rear recoil lugs and just shave a bit the front lugs. Don’t forget to blue the bare metal surfaces later.
It might sound a lot of work but it’s not, should be a $50 job on your local gunsmith (or $100 at Glock Store plus shipping). I milled my stock p365 for the modified RMSc footprint (or “K footprint” like Holosun calls it) and it was well worth it: you’ll have a plethora of options for micro red dots since most manufacturers are using the modified footprint now, not the original.
you’ll still have backwards compatibility with the Shield Red Dot (which are made of polymer and don’t have any of the modern features the Holosun and others have).
BTW, the reason Holosun modified the footprint to remove partially the recoil lugs it was so they could make the battery compartment top loaded and water resistant (both things the Shield is not). Those two reasons alone are well worth the minor modification on the gun, in my opinion.
      Cheers.”

@@VincitOmniaVeritas7 appreciate your time to type this but i really want an rds that mounts directly with no mods to the g43x mos whatsoever, just like the scs mounts directly to the g19... the only way i'd go with the scs carry rds would be to order a new spare slide (like the glock store offers) but that would cost more than my entire g43x if one adds the cost of rds into it... for the time being i'll just keep that holosun 507k with the plate mount on my g43x mos since that option is already paid for in my case...
i.m still intrigued by that new magnetic mount rds system especially since it's a breeze to instantly mount/remove it, my main concern with that one is that it could potentially interfere with glock's reliable cycling/operation because that magnet must be very strong and that might in turn really screw up the proper cycling/function of the slide, firing pin or even trigger function just enough to make it unreliable...
will have to just wait for a review, or a few, by one - or more - of my top firearms channels on that magnetic rds mount concept to see if the reliability factor isn't compromised by the magnet (s)...
also seriously considering goin to sig p365 for my micro compact option as the eps carry mounts directly to its optics ready shoe except for having to use slightly longer screws...

It's actually holosun's problem, the Vortex Defender fits perfectly on an mos factory slide. Those posts add a connection point for the optic to make it more secure. I'm not bashing holosun, they need to update their optics is all. I actually mounted my holosun scs to my gen5 G20 mos last night! It fits perfectly without any milling!

    • @glassmw9823
      @glassmw9823 Рік тому

@@OneNationUnderGod. what you say is proving my point. The full size Glock MOS slides work fine with the Holosun/RMR footprints. The optics have a standardized footprints, as do the full sized Glock MOS slides, that fit the standardized optics footprints. The Glock 43x slide is *not* the same as the Glock gen5 G20/G19/etc. slides, and it doesn’t fit the Holosun standardized footprint. I have a Glock G19 that works fine with the Holosun 507c without any milling as well. This is only a problem on the 43X slide. Holosun, nor any other optic, will change their footprint for one subcompact pistol size that wants to deviate from the standard, that’s unreasonable. Therefore, this is a Glock problem, specifically with the 43x slide.

I mean sure you'd do a more precise job and I'd likely scratch up my slide a bit, but no one sees that when its covered by the optic. and you have a machine that can do it in 7 seconds, why not cut fellow gun guys a break and just charge $25 at most. it's not like it's a job that has your machine running for hours on end.

Too many other good options available. I'm not modifying my slide. I'm a long time follower of Massad Ayoob, all the way back to the early to mid 90's where he's been a contributor and expert witness his entire adult life. Massad says. NEVER modify your carry weapon. Never use handloaded ammo. Bone stock everything is crucial unless you want to get completely destroyed in court in the unfortunate event that you need to use your weapon to defend yourself. Literally ANY physical modification will be used against you to make you look like a nutjob that modified your weapon just HOPING to use it to kill someone. That's the way the anti gun lobby rolls 100%.
Mods are great for fun and training. NEVER carry a modified weapon for defense. Do with that what you will, but that has stuck with me my entire life.
