◆ About the vid ◆
This is one of those projects where IDK why it took me sooooo freakin long to finish. It was suppose to be just a fun, spring-time project to throw together in 2 weeks at the most. (Yeah, clearly I wasn't thinking) I heard this song in the trailer for Tinker Bell- Legend of the Neverbeast and instantly knew I HAD to edit with it when the full song was released. I thought I'd finish it before the other song I used from this movie ("Strange Sight" • •Strange Sight• Hiccup... ) but inspiration hit me harder for it I guess.
Anywho, as I said before, its kinda like my "Touch The Sky" • HTTYD~Touch the Sky [B... vid I made 2012 which is still my third most popular vid. I wanted to capture the unbridled freedom Hiccup and Toothless feel flying...or floating. And their need for one another, hence GOTNF overlayed 2:24-2:32. My aim was to make it rich utilizing colors, pastel colors, contrast, sparkles. You know, non-raw. (How it was suppose to turn out too but once again I subject to my surplus of effects.) I totally oversaturated the colors and made it too dark in places + had several missed timed transitions/flashes. It always looks bright enough in the editor though, darn it :/ Other than that, I think it captured them pretty well, I guess. You be the judges! Hope you enjoy...especially you 4 =)
In the meantime I gotta collab and my 4 Year YT Anniversary special vid to finish, hopefully before school starts again Aug 25th. Ugh

I LOVE THIS SONG! Perfect for Hiccup and Toothless. I had ideas in my head about using this song. I even thought of the same beginning, starting at 0:08, using Hiccup and Toothless flying across the water in the sequel! But this far better than anything I could ever come up with!
What to pick to highlight, what to pick to highlight... Oh I'd be here all day if I did that! Every second, every milli-second is perfect! You did such a wonderful job editing I didn't see anything wrong with it! You are a master editor after all!

I love how well you manage to sync the lyrics of the songs with the scenes from httyd. Whether it be metaphorically or physically, you always mange to represent httyd with the song so well. So much so it would seem like the song was in the httyd soundtrack or something. Your a wizard editor and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I shall be waiting happily for the next videos to come. :) I have no doubt they will be amazing as well.

Gahh, that was breathtaking. I loved the use of the literal yellow glow effect when the line said "golden child." :P And honestly this whole song fit the feel and premise of HTTYD so well. Floating and being free and descriptions of flying with that underlying tone of celtic music. So sweet. I love your use of layering and the parallels between them falling together when they started to them floating/free-falling calmly together in their more recent media, like HTTYD2 and RTTE. Such a gorgeous vid!

Give yourself a pat on the back for making this gift at all! I mean, in the wake of the July 16 shooting, your hard drive crashing (right? Didn't you tell me something about that?), and of course, your painting job, you still squeezed this in. And of course, it was as FAST and DIZZYING as anything else you've done with Sony Vegas! "What makes the atmosphere glow" with Astrid at :55-:59 was beautiful. "Light up the sky like a thunderbolt" (1:39-1:45) also stood out, especially since it reminded me of one of your earliest projects from May 2012 (Light Up The Sky).

+HTTYD2014 *Pats self on the back* Okay I'll relish that since B-day gifts are the HARDEST in July and everything else that happened you remembered did not help matters. My hardrive didn't crash though, it was a chip on my motherboard that fried earlier in late May-early June and I didn't get it fixed till weeks later on the 22nd of June. I got an entirely new, upgraded PC, but it held me up on all my editing plans.
Ohh my thanks for your highlights! Interesting it reminded you of one of my older projects....thats what I wanted to hear! (Though I thought I kinda failed with all the effects I ended up with.) I worked on this project for sooo long it went through a couple different styling stages I go through to match the mood I have in mind at that time.

Yeah, this song had tooo many beats! I could hardly keep up (and really I didn't keep up very well). One of the reasons I took so long making it was because I got so overwhelmed at the number of beats I had match. Such a relief its finally over and paid off. *Whew!*

The same rush I got at 0:53 with Hiccup and Toothless flying upwards - perfectly timed and before that you had every single clip and flash perfectly timed - I love those colored flashes :)
I also liked how you just let the clips be at the chorus without any effects.
As I said, the whole video is a highlight - I'll let the birthday-kids do the real deal ;)

Oh do you mean the horizontal border? Yep! I got inspired by inhonoredglory's vids doing those, only I decided to add some color and animate them cycling through these pastel colors. I think I'll have to do it again...maybe with different colors. xD

Originally this vid was supposed to be RAW, but I got carried away again. So the least I could do was keep the chorus simple....just letting the clips to their thing. I just knew you'd point out that detail. Thanks again ACE!! =D

The scenes are from How to Train Your Dragon created by DreamWorks Animations, and also based loosely off the books by Cressida Cowell. ALL the info however can be found either IN the vid itself or in the description.
