The luck of you guys chucking out a video for this trail when I'm due to go in a month is a big save! Helping me plan out my wild camps is much appreciated.

I find such inspiration in this because for a few years already I have struggled with my mental health and really slowly I am getting back to things that I used to be able to do with ease. You inspire me a lot and I want to thank you for it. Sending love and wishing you the best on your journey :)
So sorry to hear about your struggles with mental health, but so glad you enjoyed this video and found it relaxing 🤗 it was a wonderful trail and so beautiful Thanks for watching x
Thanks Alan, this train was truly stunning, I’m looking forward to heading back upto Scotland next year to explore more of the area! Have a wonderful Christmas x
Hi Trevor 😃 I think you should defo do this one, it’s better than the great glen … in my opinion anyway xx some really gorgeous spots along the way especially in part 2 when I’ve finished editing it lol x thanks so much for watching 🤗🤗🤗

@@DrunkOnWanderlust Hey Kerry can’t complain worked most of the summer, I did get to go silverstone for the F1 and MotoGP, it’s agency work however food camping and free entry access all areas, was a great 3 day experience, hoping to get away soon xx
Awww thanks Tony, what a lovely comment 🤗 really glad your enjoying the videos .. we have so much fun on these trails and hope it comes across and inspires more people to get out and enjoy them xx have a great weekend 😃
Me and Mrs Paddler always enjoy your videos, you and Danni come across as genuine people and it's very obvious that you have plenty of fun! That rubs off on us and we get a happy feeling from your videos. Cheers girls 👍🙂
I love watching wild camping cook ups,out in the wild cooking up some lovely munch, that would be well nice to see you do,purely an idea though, colin russel does some cracking cook ups with his mates very entertaining, but love your channel.👌👍💥
Yeah that’s a great idea actually … sometimes we are strapped for time though on trail videos as we have so much content to squeeze into an episode, but defo if we were doing single overnight stays … however, we don’t usually cook anything too fancy on trail as are shattered so opt for quick and easy, but if it was a single overnight camp I guess we could carry more and have more time x 🤗 I’ll try and fit a good cook up video in before too long
Yessss Dani. What you saying, pretty professional on thee old narrative there, along with the legend herself ✊️ seeing those views took me back to the Great Glen way. God I fell in love with that trail. But this trail is looking amazing. Huge thank you for the shout out 🙏 you're a gem, kerry xx
Ahh thanks for watching!!! I appreciate it 😃🤗😃 I know, there’s something so captivating about the Scottish trails, I just can’t get enough … I finish a trail then I’m hunting for the next one … it’s addictive!
Hi guys brilliant video so informative with water and wild camp spots plus lots of fun as usual.Im playing about with the Hiiker app at the moment.Looking forward to next one atb Ana
Hi 😃😃 hope your well and having a lovely summer x ahh thanks so much for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video it’s such a wonderful trail, the app is awesome 👏 I hope you get on well with it x
I love Scotland (except the midges, aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!!! haha) My hiking poles go EVERYWHERE with me (well, not to Tesco quite, but everywhere in the mountains lol) and they've saved my life on numerous occasions! I can think of about 20 different uses for mine. They really are the best hikers tool going once I'd learnt how to use them properly!
Hi Kerry, looking forward to the next video sounds great. Great idea with the 🏅🏅🥇 hope you do really well they look great and sustainable too I like that.
Great videos, will definitely need to look into this trail (loved the WHW)! This might sound like a silly request but would love to see more of the food you enjoy while wild camping and in case you have any recommendations (easy foods to prepare, fav freeze dried meals etc). I'm a bit of a foodie and sometimes think I would likely carry too much food with me so interested to know what everyone else keeps eating (in addition to the cheeky pint at a pub :D). Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for your comment, yes that’s a great idea! We will definitely include food shots on our next trail, we are doing the Snowdonia slate trail in a few weeks x you would love the EHW, it’s so so pretty and much quieter than the WHW, part 2 is out this Friday … with some really beautiful sections on the moors and round the smaller lochs 🤗
Cracking vid as always girls I know I've said it before but you don't half make me smile and give me a few laughs on the way so you can't say fairer than that cheers kerry and danni atb bring on the next vid! 😀👍
Hey ladies, what a great trail. Despite the spells of rain, you got plenty of sunshine too 😎 It’s a beautiful trail. Good mileage! 🥾 Footpaths that lead to random places! I know this too well 😳 Good advice on recommending the diverson. 😊 Ha, love the jazz hands 🤗 The water stop, so important! Glad it didn’t taste like wee. 😆 Eh oh…. Midges! Yikes! 😬 Ohhhh cool drone footage, beautiful views 😀 I’m liking the look of the trail. Keep making great content 🥰
Great video, I've noticed your videos are getting more and more professional looking as time goes on. I use walking poles all the time now and have found them to be a game changer! They're great for reducing strain on joints and for balance going downhill and for stream crossings (I have no natural balance!)
Thanks so much 🤗 yes I’m trying to improve my filming and editing techniques so I’m glad it’s noticeable xxx I agree! We had a fair few river crossings in the second half so was very thankful of the hiking poles xx thanks for watching and have a great weekend
Hi you two, well worth the wait for this video really good. I couldn't think of anything to say to add to your videos I think the mixture of scenery and fun from you both is just right. I was surprised to find out that big Bertha
Hi guys good to see you back in uk. Another fantastic video danni makes me laugh and you both always give positive infor on the trails you do . Really enjoyed well done ladys
Thanks so much 😃😃 so glad you enjoyed it! We love doing these trails so much and hope the vids inspire others to give them ago and enjoy them x Hope your having a great summer … ps part 2 is funnier, some classic danni moments
Bloody hell Nick, you smashed it! I bet it was insane 😃 I’m too clumsy to cycle well, the art of putting one foot in front of the other is as much as I have mastered! I’d love to see some pics of your adventures .. are you on insta?
Thanks Wullie, enjoyed the pics of you winter bathing in the lake, far too cold for me to try but you smashed it like a boss! ❄️🥶 your more hardcore than we are lol
Yayyyyy!!!! Sundicks I've been rockin them since 2019 had loads of stick for em (mainly because of the name😂) but when you're winter wild camping in Lancashire I always have the last laugh cos they're like furnaces on your feet and they were only 5.99 ish back then result! 😀👍
@@DrunkOnWanderlust I'm partial to a multidayer myself and your vids always get my inspiration flowing...been thinking the East Highland for a while and also the skye trail...I did the snowdonia slate trail a week or so ago that's well worth a look
@@DrunkOnWanderlust you'll find spots after llanberis on the tops looking over Caernarfon and before bedgellert in the forest...some wild moore spots before Blaenau Ffestiniog and a lovely waterfall valley before llan Ffestiniog and slightly after...I stayed in a hostel in betswy coed and its pretty busy around there until you get to capel curig but then there's loads of space...just don't hang around too long in the morning n you'll be fine I reckon
Really enjoyed the vid! You guys put a big smile on my face! We walked the East Highland Way back in 2021, and I was really surprised at how good a route it is. So much looks to be through forest plantation, but it doesn't detract from the views at all. One diversion I would suggest is skipping the lochside route along Loch Laggan (it starts close to where you camped at the west end of the loch), and taking a parallel route through the glen to the south. The distances are about the same and it's far superior and on good track. Some great stuff to come as well! Look forward to the next vid!
🤗🤗🤗 agreed! Such a lovely trail we had a wonderful time, ooh I’ll check out that alternative path on the map… maybe I can add it to part 2 as a suggestion x so glad you enjoyed it, what is your next trail you have in mind?
@@DrunkOnWanderlust Not really decided yet. It's going to be November before I can hike a trail again, so something fairly short (60-100 miles) and low level at that time of year. Too many interesting trails to choose from, really (the Danelaw Way and Shakespear's Avon Way have caught my eye at the moment!)
Hi Kerry and Danni another great video getting better all the time , just a thought maybe include some bloopers and fails at the end i,m sure there must be a few .Take care both 😉
I'm planning on doing this hike later in the year so was looking for some tips. This video is criminally under viewed imo as you added a lot of good info while being really down to earth and funny. Thanks, and good luck with the channel 👍🏻
Hi Kerry and Danni, long time no comment! Have been watching though. This was a really lovely video, just gorgeous scenery and so clear. Reminded me of my experience on the West Highland Way a few years ago. Enjoyed your usual fun delivery. The app looks very good, such a shame the route isn’t very well marked. Keep up the good work. As for what else might be good to watch, have you ever considered including us in on meal times. It’s such a big part of the fun with wild camping. Just a thought.
Hi there Rob 😃 so good to hear from you! Now that’s actually a great idea! Thanks for your comment, we head out to film us doing the Snowdonia slate trail in a few weeks so will definitely include some meal time shots… it was quite difficult on this trail as we were trying to cook yet avoid getting swarmed by midges at the same time 🙈 but hopefully they won’t be so bad on the next one x
Just watched this on the big telly, what a treat! A great first half to the East Highland Way. You covered so much with great information and enthusiasm. Loved the thanks to your folks for the hiking poles, we dimd them invaluable on descents. Only got them last year, wish id got them and used them twenty years ago! Would give me that much longer on my knees! Your energy levels are awesome, loved it! Great likes from us! 👍
😃😃 yes they were a godsend on the river crossings too, I didn’t take any on the Snowdonia way mountain route and ended up with a knee injury from the hardcore descents xx so glad you enjoyed the video ♥️
Hey Kerry and Danni another awesome and well presented video as always and very informative for anyone wanting to do the trail...which looks like a great one with some amazing views especially around that Loch! Whenever I hear the word snacks I think of Drunk on Wanderlust 😂 will look forward to part 2...Danni you're a natural presenter! Until next time, all the best. DAY
As ever another cracking video... if I could add any feedback all i'd say is keep doing what your doing... its great to see some of the beautiful countryside of Britain again after your working abroad... one place I think you would both love to visit and hike a bit of would be the Grand Canyon... stay in Vegas and the a helicopter there DO NOT get the tour coach, one of the worst experiences of my life that tour coach, the Grand canyon however is simply glorious, its like a painting you could reach out and touch... hell you might even get some work out in Vegas doing your Abba gig,.. get paid while your there :) But as for tips for your channel... nah... its canny good just the way it is... its natural and calming and the videography is spot on... some channels don't give a toss and its all about the views and subscriptions and seems more like an advertisement than people just enjoying something they really like... so keep it up ladies :)
Hi 😃😃 great to hear from you, hope your having a lovely summer! Ahh thanks so much, yes we really enjoy these trails, and it’s so good to be back in the UK again x The Grand Canyon is on my bucket list, but I might have to wait quite a while before I can save up enough for that trip lol x but one day it will happen 😃
Great video, sorry it’s taken me a while to get round to watching it. I love how real u both are, it looks a beautiful trail great video as always can’t wait to watch the next one. Good luck on ur 🏅they look great! Would be nice to maybe include some of the drone footage that u got perhaps? Apart from that I love ur videos keep em coming I think ur both naturals 🥰😃❤️ xx
Awww thanks so much! I have included some drone footage in part 2 which goes live tonight at 6pm 😃 thanks so much for watching! I think we should meet up for a camp or hike at somepoint x would be fun to meet you
@@DrunkOnWanderlust I was using the EHW to get into Glen Feshie from Aviemore, I spent one night at the Bothy. That area is called Inshriach and ill never forget how vibrant and bright the purple heather was among the crooked scots pine, just amazing.
@@os-walker I know it’s glorious! We filmed it all on our part 2 video, not sure if you have seen it? We stayed in drakes bothy .. I love the section around Loch an Eileen
Well done both I think you achieved the objective of being informative. Anyone thinking of doing this trek is sure to gain something form the video. Great weather - you lucked out there. As for Officiallysmashedit all the best with the venture. I think of only one thing though and that's all the air miles you do. There's a fair bit of Carbon right there. I imagine you've got your offsetting sorted. Well, all the best. Mark
Hi there Mark 🤗 thanks so much for watching, I’m glad you found it informative… I hope it wasn’t too much info and not enough fun! Yes the weather was insane! It did tip it down for a few days in the second half, but we ended on a dry high which was lovely 🥰 Ah if only I could have sailed to work in Corfu… I would certainly have chosen that option I can assure you! But alas I can’t even drive a car 🙈 so plane it had to be … however I am back in the UK now for the foreseeable, getting stuck back into these UK trails xxx all the best 🤗 have a wonderful weekend
@@DrunkOnWanderlust A pleasure Kerry. Always good! Nope it was just right for viewing. Hey, it wouldn't be a Scottish hike if it didn't rain eh? Nice one for the dry finish. Ah, you're like me then public transport, walk or cycle. Yeah, I'm sure yoy'd choose another way if you could. But I was thinking more of the America's trip. All, good though UK trails and all.
Been meaning to watch this and so glad I did - what a lovely trail. Its on my list for next Spring! I love both your fun personalities too. After a few days on trail me and my husband tend to go a bit doolally and end up having so much jokes. In terms of suggestions maybe adding a map session at the end of each day or using the OS map overlay on the app showing your route and camping spots - that would be super helpful. Look forward to the next one :D.
Hi there Rebecca, thanks so much for your comment 🤗😃 ahh you guys will have a fab time on this trail, the second half is so fun too I’m just editing it now, ok ace that’s an idea for my next trail vids when I’m doing the slate trail … thanks for the suggestion and happy hiking!!
🏴😁👍 loved the trail vlog kerry and danni plus the new tent. This looks like a good varied long distance trail 👍 OK not mountainous, but I guess if you had plenty of time you could go of course for an adventure higher before rejoining the official trail. Awesome wildcamp spots 👍👍😁 Well done you two and looking forward to the next video. Stunning views 😁 can't think of any trail video suggestions as you have them very covered and described, great tips regarding the hiker app 👍😁👍🏴
Thanks Mike! I was thinking of doing Ben Nevis before we started the trail as it’s in fort William… but danni isn’t a fan of mountains and I doubt I could persuade her to do that one!! 😂😂 I’ll save the high elevation trails for when I’m solo x so glad your enjoying the content
@@DrunkOnWanderlust looking forward to part 2 kerry 😁🏅🏅👍🏴 definatley quieter than the WHW but just as spectacular.. content and described trails are excellent, videos, stills, plus the helpful tips on Alltrails 👍👍👍😁 Have a great weekend.. Danni did really well and enjoyed this trail, the mountains aren't for everyone but she got stuck in again and enjoyed herself.. maybe one day you can tempt her to join you on a mountain hike 😁🤗
Stunning scenery and where did that weather come from (first day apart) - sunburnt in Scotland 😁. Anyone thinking about a long distance trail should be made to watch this, for purely information and inspiration purposes. Anything over 5 hours sleep is a bonus for me so 9 hours must be amazing 😴. I love my Officially Smashed It Ben Nevis medal 🥇, great quality and love the way it is made. I always use hiking poles, such a help blessing for my knees 😁. That trail looked a bit rough mind, so the diversion route for me I think. That beach at the end of the Loch was stunning, what a place to end day one! Full watch on the big TV with Mrs Metalman - what a great way to start the day 🙂 Cheers Alan
So glad you like the medal, I think they are so cute! Got a collection going on my fridge of the ones I’ve done now lol Yes it really was stunning … and so underrated in comparison to the west highland way… in part 2 you will get to see the moors all purple with Heather it was wonderful xx
Hey Kerry & Danni, sorry we couldn’t stay at your premier but we have just watched you on the big screen and it was so good! This is a great trail for hikers and wild campers and super full of great info! I love both your happy fun loving energy! Dance moves and singing are right up our street, ‘The sun has got his hat on’ and ‘combine harvester’ had me smiling ear to ear! You stay very gorgeous and glamorous throughout these wild camps! My mission is to get everyone on UA-cam doing bridge twirls and you crossed quite a few! You could not possibly improve on both your awesomeness but a few bridge twirls would be fab 😜💃👍 can you really just drink the water from the rivers like that?? 😳 great find on those poles and loved that at one point Danni’s pole looked bigger than her 😂🤣 brilliant! I love we have found some new viewing for our big screen! 👏👍❤️💃😘 Jill x
Hi Jill 😃 great to hear from you, glad you enjoyed the video … we will make sure we add in some bridge twirls when we do the slate trail just for you guys!!! Lol yes that’s a special water filter bottle it’s called a KATADYN be free so there’s a built in filter In the lid and you can fill it up and drink it directly from the bottle xxx
Hi Lisa! Thanks so much for watching, so glad you enjoyed the video … ok well I’m part 2 which is out this Friday we had a night with a ton of rain, we had some condensation issues but I think that was due to having the wet gear inside the tent too but apart from that it was fine… we haven’t yet had a night in it with extreme wind yet though .. but heading to Snowdonia to hike the slate trail in a few weeks so we may find out then! We are really pleased with it tbh 🤗 it’s so lightweight and so much room inside x
Brill vid, really enjoyed that, looking forward to part 2. My suggestions for future vids would be to include more drone footage, more happy dancing, I love that, and more hand holding while walking the trail, other than that please keep the content coming, great entertainment, and thank you 😊
Awww I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 🤗 yes I need to improve with the drone so more of the footage is useable … I can’t seem to get the quality of the shots coming out very well even though it says it’s filming in 4K 30 it doesn’t look like it is? Maybe the settings are wrong I need to have a good play with it x 🤔 ahhh the hand holding … we do it all the time 🙈🙈🙈 didn’t know if people would find it cute or sickening ha ha and yes more happy dances coming up!!!!
😂😂😂 you mean Big Agnes? I was thinking …. Who’s big Bertha??? Xx appreciate you watching John, I’m glad you enjoy the content… it’s always difficult trying to find the balance between keeping it informative and also fun to watch x
Hi Lisa 😃👋 ahhh I’ve been wild camping and trail hiking for a while now I love it so much ♥️ this was a relatively easy trail for me in comparison to some I did last year x but was so so beautiful I fell in love with it! Do you enjoy wild camping yourself?
@@DrunkOnWanderlust I found your channel through the Scottish wanderer youtube channel . I think it’s a learn as you go kinda thing x do try and get yourself out there you would enjoy it so much! Ps … part 2 of the east highland way goes live at 6pm
Tbh your vids are pretty cool as they are. But if I had to be picky & choose something to add to the vids I'd say to put a bit more info in to your natural surroundings regarding flora & fauna. Get some wildlife shots (not cows😂) and elaborate on the local wildlife. Also focus a bit on the plant life. Tell us what trees & plants dominate the area. If you are next to a particular tree, and especially if it's a beauty of one then tell us what tree it is & maybe a bit of info about that particular species. Like I said, I can't really fault your vids, but you did ask! You don't need to go OTT regarding the local biodiversity, but maybe just a hint of it here & there sometimes? This was another cracking vid ladies & I'm just about to watch part 2👍
Ah ok! Good comment 🤗🤗 now apart from some pretty hairy caterpillars, some sheep and a few cows … we were a bit disappointed that we didn’t actually come across much wildlife, not that I had the camera out to film anyway .. we usually spot deer and the like but I think they must have been hiding that week 🙈 but yes!! If we come across any next time we will defo film … as for the flora and fauna ……… I would need to buy a book 🧐 or I wouldn’t be confident talking about it in case I got it wrong! But it’s something I should brush up on for sure, I know the basic trees 🌲 but a lot of the fungi and plants I’m not confident with yet x
@@DrunkOnWanderlust It's a constant learning environment. I'm just getting in to bushcraft type skills & knowing this stuff is kind of a prerequisite. Not fungi though. When it comes to foraging I'm not taking any chances. That's a specialist skill that will kill you if you get it wrong!!! But just knowing a bit about what's what is something useful for all who like spending time outdoors. Don't fret over it. I only mentioned it as it's something I'm in to. 90% of your viewers probably aren't. You did ask though😂👍
Hi John, yes sorry …. On more recent vids I’ve started to use the OS map version as it’s more universal and easier for people to see 🤗 All a learning curve for me I have loads of trails this year to film so I will try and make it easier But for now if there was any questions you have on this trail please let me know and I’ll be happy to help or show you on a better map xxx
True but everyone likes to have their own things to make them comfortable don’t they ? We don’t judge guys’ hiking abilities on their looks - makeup doesn’t affect our ability to hike ☺️
@@dannidsc of course, but every luxury has a weight penalty. I would like to carry more chocolate, perhaps some whiskey, and a pillow would be nice. My point is that if you are really interested in reducing weight, there are things you can do without.

My hiking poles go EVERYWHERE with me (well, not to Tesco quite, but everywhere in the mountains lol) and they've saved my life on numerous occasions! I can think of about 20 different uses for mine. They really are the best hikers tool going once I'd learnt how to use them properly!
I would like to hear all 20 uses 😂😝

Great videos, just keep doing what you are doing its great. I have always wanted to camp at Loch Lagan I will need to do it soon.
Thanks Gus, the far end of the Loch has better options but do two nights and you get to do the walk between them which is also cute

Great video, I've noticed your videos are getting more and more professional looking as time goes on. I use walking poles all the time now and have found them to be a game changer! They're great for reducing strain on joints and for balance going downhill and for stream crossings (I have no natural balance!)

Really look forward to that one. I’ve done lots of walking / climbing in Snowdonia as I was brought up near there. 👍

Ahhh thanks Day 😃😃 yes it was a wonderful trail, we really enjoyed it! Can’t wait for the slate trail!!

@@dannidsc of course, but every luxury has a weight penalty. I would like to carry more chocolate, perhaps some whiskey, and a pillow would be nice. My point is that if you are really interested in reducing weight, there are things you can do without.
