Freelancer - any% Speedrun [

Lost ~5 minutes at the Hood for forgetting to buy Gold and being unable to buy Torpedo/Catapults, as well as getting the Willard Softlock and attempting a cutscene skip that doesn't work.
Sub 4:15 is free, sub 4:10 is definitely possible.

because freelencer is luckly a rather old but still hidden gem. only player that want fun and loving the game are in it. a true paradise for any gamer to be part in. no kids under 11. no toxic beavior (well only if you shoot down somone that might be at the end of a long trade route) but they apologize after 10-20 min, you can even make anti feminism and those retarded gender ppl jokes and everyone will laugh instead of crying for waht you said just now. and if you wanna fly bigger ships like battleships or cruiser the addon "Discovery" is pretty good and aswell a paradise, more RP like but still very nice to play on.

Hi there, I recently remembered this game and started a casual playthrough without skips but with adhering to some of the notes on speedrun.com (stuff like "ignore nomads, take jumphole immediately"). I'm stuck at the "Fly to Toledo" part of the nomad power cell mission. I land and the cutscene doesn't trigger. And the thing is, I vaguely remember encountering this softlock in my previous casual playthroughs, too. That was years back, though. Have you ever encountered this softlock? I even loaded a mission 11 savegame and redid mission 12 but the softlock still happens.

That never happened to me, are you playing with some mods or patches that could cause this?

​@@SydMontague Yeah I used the HighRes/Widescreen patch and a HD texture pack. Didn't think these could cause such a problem but a clean install did the trick. Game looks hideous though. Made a savegame after the cutscene and loaded that with the modded game so I wouldn't get eye cancer :P Thanks for your answer. FYI casual time was 11h10m.

@@Rasta8889 I'd assume one of the patches/mods tried to fix more than Widescreen/HD stuff. I know that some of the community patches messed with the mission files.
The easiest solution would've been to just do that part normally, though. :P

What made you decide to start speedrunning this game?

I've spent thousands of hours playing the multiplayer and I've been revisiting the singleplayer regularly even after I stopped playing online. So when I got into speedrunning in general it became a kinda natural choice given that I already developed certain strategies to save time in my casual playthroughs and that it's a game that I simply can not get bored of.

My PC still runs Windows 7, where is just runs out of the box.
One common thing I heard about running it on W10 though is, that using the No-CD Exe is necessary, since it contains no DRM.
It should be downloadable on the-startport.net (it's not a crack, it's from an official release of the game).
