It's called practical studio and stadium production! When Robert Mutt Lange first produced Def Leppard, he had to expain how the '20 notes per second' guitar solos won't be heard after the 50th row! This is why Sambora strips down and simplifies his solos. However, don't under-estimate the guys technical ability, you just haven't heard it! i'm chuffed to say that i have. p.s. I kid you not.
hes a legend, if not then i guess that clapton EVH, page, jeff beck, joe perry, les paul (rip) and bb king, who have all played with him at one point or another, are wrong when they sing his praises.
Now i'm not claiming to be a 'know all' or an expert on the subect, but i've spent 20 years 'tickling the nickle' and 'flirting with the fretwire', i wonder how many people would agree OR disagree if i say that as far as 'composing' an appropriate solo to suit a song, Brian may wins hands down. He turns a solo into another chorus! Mark Knopfler also!
Love listening to these oh Sambora isn't that great comments. You actually read guitar magazines and they have a lot of respect for him. While he may not be the flashiest player he is definately one of the best at playing what is right for a song rather than trying to fit a song around some egotistical boring shredder. It's a question of taste. Sambora may not be the fastest, most technical guitarist. However his solos ALWAYS fit the song. Van halen can't do that. Malmsteen can't . (i love those guys too by the way!) He's just very economical with what he does...and he does it great. Plus, as a songwriter, you can't argue he's written some great songs! Peace and love!

LOL and btw...."blues" as its now more commonly known has its roots taken from african music which was passed down the decades through slaves by word of mouth....which then arrived with Wiliam Handy in 1873 whos is known as the "father of modern bnlues".....so in essance yes modern blues came from the deep south but its roots and inspiration came from african music

Too much guitar, just like the GIOMH version. The original demo was chaotic without being overblown, even if in poor quality. Plus, Richie's voice just doesn't fit the song very well.
