I've tried almost every foot ascender out there and the petzl pantin has been my favorite except for it always kicking out even if I try pedaling backwards looking like a chimp on drugs, It took me 2 years to find this video and order this upgrade piece like yesterday, Thank you very much. There are different opinions on this. Many people say it is better to develop an efficient heel down technique and not need this extra as not using the accessory will enable you to kick out of the rope at rebelays etc. This accessory is a compensation for bad technique. That said.. I have added it myself to my Pantin :)
This catch is a compensation for rough dirty ropes in caves also. They are like wire sometimes. And when you go up with 2 bags after 2 weeks ungerground - this accessory saves some power... Thank you for this comment.
