@16.00 Indians have always faced racism and because of our condition in 2010-2013, people were wary of interacting with foreigners, The way Hindus have been thought that we are a defeated civilization and were Ruled by others for 1000s of years made us a nation that always carved validation from west, it changed when a proud unapologetic Hindu PM graced the seat of Power, Confidence in ourselves, our faith system our philosophy increased Our PM was a big factor on it...
Colonization is a reality it's always going to be part of our history, our conscience, our country was Frist divided in 2 parts in 1947 which became 3 in 1971... It will always be there but today's India doesn't shy away from answering any west nation just because they are from west and have better standard of living... Also our Society is in churning process we are debating everything and trying to find a solution that applies on ourselves.. its a long path and journey has just been started.

India is world largest populous country, here is something which normally a European would not quickly understand..that collection of taxes from vast majority of the population is a massive challenge....due to its sheer size, it is easy to slip out from the Tax collection net...
India has not increased its taxes...otherwise gow the per capita is growing. I dia has made better and sophisticated mechanism to collect taxes from the ones who were outside the tax net all along...due to its size.....and in return India is also giving them facilities ...which otherwise they never had.
I did ask about collection of taxes rather than increased taxes as collection of taxes is the hard subject.

40% of Indias population is under 25 years of age , our education system is not up to the mark [ bad even ] but we are still learning mostly from other sources like UA-cam or books or podcasts....so its difficult to have well informed views on any topic for our young population [myself included]......so the comments you are seeing is a result of different levels of info one has on a particular topic.
regarding why we are estranged on things related to brits and muslim rule in india is because real history is hidden from us and distorted history is presented to us [even now in fundamental books ] so whenever a new fact is emerged through UA-cam or any other source , we get agitated .

Tax rates havent increased It's the tax bracket or base was increased to include more people. Earlier there was tax paid by many businessmen.

Zuzana the amount of torture done in last two centuries though the British left the country - they had so much impact on our minds -we started questioning our on civilization but little did they know that our civilization is oldest of all and two centuries of atrocities cannot weaken us ... Its also thru that we are taking our own time to build our self back...
But since 2014 we are in process of reclaiming our lost identity..
People in western world never respected Indian passport and called us names..
However we are in better position since and progressing postive in terms of respect..
Due to the positive policy of the current govt people of india have contributed taxes and not escaped, it also means that we the people of India have confidence in current govt that the money paid in the form of taxes to ru the govt is used positively by govt .. for developing the infra, helping the poor in basic needs and elevating education system.
The digital india - what Palki was saying is earlier only 40% of population had bank account, under current government the policy was made to ensure people of every class had bank account. What this would mean is - the accountability is visible, govt schemes for varous policies were paid to the needful in their accounts directly, thus avoiding corruption.
I would still say we are in a better position and we are improving no country is 100% perfect but this current govt is showing positive progress.

I’m glad we are getting out of it, and the fact that we have had enough of western lecturing to the point that we don’t care anymore, speaks volumes about the self confidence brought back by the current government. I work in IT industry where i deal with foreign clients everyday, but now I have the confidence to show up to any meeting and feel I can stand tow to toe with anyone around the world has given me hope. I won’t reveal my real age, but there was a time Earlier when we providing IT services to western world thought of ourselves as just cheap labour. But since 2014, I started to realise my value against my competitors from anywhere in the world. I now have the confidence to argue my points with conviction and confidence which was missing in me earlier. Now whenever a foreign client visits us, I know that I am equal to them and I can have meaningful and fruitful conversations. Just some anecdotes from my personal experience 😊

The passport thing that she said, might not be taken literally but many indians living abroad have told that before modi when they say in foreign that they are from India then the response wasn't much welcoming.... That's what is actually happening in India.We are witnessing and experiencing this everyday but there are some anti-india elements or I would say anti-modi groups which are very much active in the West floating heavy money in India to those ppl whose thought process matches with them, asking to spread wrong information using both digital and electronics media. Surprisingly, I can even see two guys here in this discussion too 😅. India is certainly on the right path 'no doubt. Moreover, Indians are now more aware of what is wrong and what is right.
Tax collection has increased with most of the tax rates being same... Its just that the process has been made stronger so that less tax evasion takes place and also it is the sign that with the loosely similar tax rates as they were 5 years back and in direct taxes infact reduced rates, the collection is increasing.... So therefore its a good sign...
