Hey Ted, could you try making a video of “ I’ve Just Seen a Face” by the Beatles? I think that would sound awesome on the hammered dulcimer.

Wonderful video! Thanks for posting. By the way, I rather like the singing with the dulcimer. It kind of rounds it out. You have a great voice! The songs you wrote are the best! I loved them! I could just see the rain when you played it. :)

There you are! I think we all expected to see you during the holidays again. You are so easy-going, humorous and entertaining in this video (and always). I love the last song and it's backstory. It's so funny what inspires us sometimes. I totally understand about the cats. I wish you and your family a wonderful 2019!

Hi if possible is there any chance you could possibly do the song country roads on the dulcimer? It's one of my favourite songs. Thank you

Great job man. I started playing piano by ear when I was 5 years old. Since then I now play 32 different instruments. I play bluegrass and Irish music. I recently picked up hammered dulcimer, and I'm not getting this instrument very well... partly because I'm used to playing Melody with my right hand and not my left. Also it's throwing me off because the bass strings are on the right instead of the left like on the piano. What am I missing do you have any suggestions to help me comprehend this instrument a little better? Thank you and God bless

Adrenaline Family glad I’m not the only one with this kind of skill five minutes with any instrument and I can fool anyone.

@@nivlick I only have a small Hammered Dulcimer. It was given to me as a Christmas gift. I'm thinking I would have more success playing it if I could get a dulcimer that has some bass notes on the left hand side .? Something like a chromatic one?

There's lots of great HD theory stuff available on UA-cam. I've been playing a very old Dusty Strings Apprentice for about 2 years now, and at my present rate of advancement should be surpassing ol' Ted somewhere around my 114th birthday. But is is great fun to play.
Joshua Messick just gave a great talk about modes on the HD, if you're into that (ua-cam.com/video/Zwj8d1bskAg/v-deo.html). Jess Dickenson (ua-cam.com/play/PLzlNqbwMVFUrlb9FEB20Ai8b7uC3WJXnF.html) has a number of good technique videos, too.
For those curious about the cost vs benefit curve between different dulcimer models, check out "Which Dulcimer is Right for YOU?" at www.snclocks.com/Steves-Dulcimers/Which-Dulcimer-is-Right-for/i-VvwkQps

i too started playing piano when i was 7 yrs old, i play by ear & by reading the music too. It was very difficult for me, but once i learned that the chords are in a 'shed' pattern' (like the roof on a shed) from right to left, it made it easier, also memorizing the patterns & realizing the bottom strings are the A chord, the next set are the D&G chord/or scales, the next are the C chord & F made it simple or easier for me. I had tags on all the notes until i finally made myself memorize them by heart, memorization is the key & watching other players online also. Taking lessons doesn't hurt you either! If you can find a teacher in your area, please do! (i also play autoharp, accordion & a little bit of fiddle & mtn dulcimer...i used to play guitar, but not anymore, i never found an instrument i couldn't play yet...i'm still learning the concert zither as well w/munich tuning...talk about a workout!....lol (when i say shed-pattern i mean if you hit marked note on the treble bridge on the right side, you will find the note opposite that note on the left side & the note that is marked above it are in the same scale) you can do that w/all the marked bridges, left bass & right treble, i'm still learning myself, but have gotten better than i used to be!/p.s. i noticed timothy seamon plays his ham. dulcimer just like he would a piano, bass notes w/ left hand & melody w/right , even tho that isn't how they are usually played, it still sounds good that way!
