kind of lazy to do SAR or optical imagery processing to get the water surface data for your area of interest? do you want to use GIS-ready raster data about surface water that has medium to high resolution that is not only mapped all the water surface area in the globe, but also its change along the time ? check this tutorial ua-cam.com/video/XSPtrqaHMtA/v-deo.html
Can you please explain that bandmath expression for VV written at 4:37 ? Also, what is the similar expression in case of VH? Any tips to understand these expressions.
255 is maximum pixel value on 8-bit raster, and the last value is the average sigma nought value between water and non-water features. I got the value by inspecting the image on water and non-water features using pixel inspector tool, if you are using VH, then it shoud sigma0_VH ,
@@GEO2004 Thankyou it is very informative. Also, please tell that how to show different ROIs like water, Urban, vegetation etc. with different colors on the same image?
It is possible, but I found it very hard to present the knowledge into a video tutorial because there are so many parameters involved and the steps are very complex and tedious. I am sorry
There is none as far i know, All the document I have read mostly only writes about the mathematical equations, I can do these mathematical equations in the software because I have learned remote sensing for a long time, but if a document that kind of explain how to do these equations in a software, so far I didn’t find it
can you please make video to extract soil moisture value from sentinel 1, after processing in SNAP software ,and also using Qgis for further to retrieve value of soil moisture, i m strucked after processing please help me
could you describe the workflow in SNAP to get the soil moisture? I think soil moisture processing in SNAP using SAR data is not mature enough to be considered as operational worflow with reliable result,
@@GEO2004 i had done processing like orbit file correction, thermal noise removal, radiometric Caliberation, Multilooking, speckle filter, and terrain correction , and converted linear to db values in snap . After that I'm not getting how to take values of any pixels , to get soil moisture of that place..
Yeah, because that is not easy to do, if the data source is not so important. I guess you can use optical remote sensing data that have SWIR bands (landsat 8, sentinel 2), optical data is more reliable compared to SAR at this moment

Can u a make video on getting the water extent and water volume?
interesting, I will add the topic to my video listing

That falls on image classification, I will do it later
Ok Sir, Thanks.
a very informative tutorial. any tips about soil mositure retrivial via Sentinel 1 at the same resolution?

@@GEO2004 Ok thank you anyway. Any suggestion, any paper or other document explaining the procedure in your knowledge?

you said to experiment with the values at 4:27, how do i determine the value for my dataset ?
Just check the water body features pixel value using esa snap pixel inspector
@@GEO2004 How to do that? can u give me the steps or any tutorial?
I want to ask if I can use the same steps to extract land features by change a band maths expression for my own dataset ?
There are many kinds of land features, could you be more specific?
@@GEO2004 I mean i want to extract land only to know the coastline which is boundary between land and water
yes you can, but the expression would be different for sure
@@GEO2004 thank you, i have tried it and its works 👍🏻
Very niceeeee
hi I would like to ask. Does extract water surface features related with soil moisture?
Doesnt always, you can extract water surface of lake and it is not related with soil moisture
om izin bertanya, kalau daata citranya terbalik titik koordinatnya, itu gimana ya cara benerinnya?
kalau terbalik sepertinya belum dilakukan range doppler terrain correction
you processed in VV pol but why the result in VH
I am sorry, that was my mistake
Thanks
You are welcome
Hi, may i know how can i do this for 200+ images ? can anyone give me suggestion
You must create a graphical modeler (similar with model builder in arcgis), and run in batch mode. SNAP has this functionality,

Hello, I have mailed you a query..please respond to that 😀
Let me check
Hello,is there any Instagram account that i can come in contact with you?
