- As an Automotive Technologies Teacher, I get asked a lot how someone can become an Automotive Mechanic. This video goes over the ins and outs of how to do this in Ontario and some tips I have learned through my years as a Mechanic and Educator.
Please let me know if you like this style of video, and if there are any other trades you would like me to do this for. Any video suggestions are also welcome!!

Thank you, very informative
You're very welcome! Thank you!
Thank you so much for the information. I'm currently working in the economic field, but I'm interested in becoming an automotive mechanic. I'm also concerned about long-term career prospects and noticed your comments about heavy-duty mechanics. For a long-term career, which path in automotive mechanics would you recommend? Thank you!
@@BurntToffee755 Thank you for reaching out! I think longterm options Heavy duty would be best in my opinion. There are more unionized shops available, at least here in Ontario. Long term, union, pension and benefits are what you want and the average garage, even most dealers will only give a sub par health plan.
@@mr.bents_autoshop5879 I appreciate your comment. Could you please let me know if there are any related courses for heavy-duty mechanics at Centennial College?
@@BurntToffee755 centennial offers a great 310T program with a very good hire rate when you complete the course.
@@mr.bents_autoshop5879 Thank you!
@@mr.bents_autoshop5879 Thank you!
would it be too late if i began in grade 11?
@@m.a3117 definitely not! I didn't know my path until I was in the final months of grade 12. If you can, sign up for Co-op or Auto if it's available at your school. Then if you're liking it, speak with your guidance counselor about OYAP for grade 12.
@mr.bents_autoshop5879 thank you Mr bent
Hi I will like to get my mechanic license do you have a number so i could find out more about it please
@@chrisjoseph1274 Hey, thanks for reaching out, I don't give out my number, but you can message me on Instagram, @mr.bents_autoshop and we can talk there
Hey I want to enroll my self in 2 years Diploma
Kindly suggest Truck mechanic, Car Mechanic or Heavy duty mechanics
Which course do I need to persue ?
Which one will always in demand and can make me high money ?
@@KuldeepSingh-so4pu if you are here in Ontario, I'd suggest the Heavy Truck Mechanic 310T. Centennial offers an amazing program for it and has a very large hire rate at the end of the program.
Heavy Equipment mechanics can make more, but less likely to be unionized which in the long term isn't the best option.
Hope that helps! Reach out any time!
