It is the responsibility of Equifax to "freeze' everyone's account immediately, period. and if they need it thawed for a short period of a few days then they can contact Equifax and Equifax should take care of this temporary thaw immediately - but common sense "freeze" all accounts and the two other credit report agencies should do the same and participate in the protection of consumers.
Unfortunately, each of the big-three CRAs (credit reporting agency) must be told separately to impose a credit freeze. Worse, it costs the consumer money each time they want to allow a credit inquiry. Pretty good scam, if your lobbyists can get the right laws implemented, in order to permit this shakedown (and they did).
Wow, the organization responsible for everyone's financial/credit existence can't/doesn't keep that data secure? I thought the one thing I could trust is the banking/financial institutions of America. What will I do now!!!!!?
‘A huge pain’ Hackers first made their way into Equifax’s systems through the digital equivalent of an open door. For two months in 2017, the company neglected to patch a known software vulnerability. Then, four officers from China’s People’s Liberation Army - Wu Zhiyong, Wang Qian, Xu Ke and Liu Lei - spent two months inside, stealing names, Social Security numbers and other information about nearly half the people in the U.S., prosecutors say. Making matters worse for the FBI was that Equifax representatives slowed down the investigation by refusing to share any details that weren’t vetted by outside attorneys. At times, the company moved so slowly that people inside the Justice Department briefly considered issuing a subpoena, according to the former official.
There is a serious shortage of workers in the skilled trades. There is too much of an emphasis in society on college education. Apprenticeships should be encouraged and promoted. President Trump has taken action to help in this regard.
ALERT: Credit Bureaus Are Selling Your Name and Private Financial Information. A loophole in the law now allows the four largest credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian, TransUnion and Innovis to sell your personal and private financial information to any and all lenders both in the US and overseas.
They obviously don't understand data management or servers. For 7 years I cannot get my credit report from them online. Always have to mail in a form and proof of identity. They probably have paper files and do some stoopid thing with them.
All these data Brokers operate overseas and your information is not safe over there the reason why they operate offshore because no taxes and they pay the workers $2 an hour no benefits.. the next time you call one of these companies ask them where they at they will tell you there offshore somewhere.
I had the social security scammer call me the other day on my phone and he was laughing at me and ask him how did you get my information he said he was in India. where Equifax is and they're getting information from them to scam you the hackers have your information from Equifax from India.. like I said your information is not safe overseas

Don't sign up for their free credit monitoring, that waves your right to be a part of class action lawsuit.

Have to commend whoever hacked it, quite an accomplishment.

He's laughing because he does not care about credit scores and does not believe in borrowing money (credit cards). She has never listened to his show.
Cc card companies are the ones reporting SSN
How do they have my information anyway I do not deal with any of these people
No breach, all data was SOLD to highest. bidder, Pakistan!
All data was stored by the lowest bidder, India!
Conspiracy Theory much?
Why didn't Equifax store data in separate servers? Talk about stupid.
