I see about 3-4 original members of the future Tuba Skinny here, which started about the next year 2009. Esp Barnabus on the T-bone, the female banjo player and Shaye Cohn on piano. Not sure about the others.
There's Red again, and this times shes got a gentleman friend. What is that dance they are doing?? Its not "swing dancing" but it fits the music perfectly! The loose Marbles get my vote for authenticity. Do they just play happy music out on the street all day?? What a life :)
@MrPisster Like LindyToez said, it's charelston which is a type of swing dancing. They're mostly doing 20's charelston (like the flappers from the roaring 20's), and a lot of really nifty free stlye.
These articles I wrote some time ago will give you some idea of what they have to do: playing-traditional-jazz.blogspot.com/2016/10/your-local-band-needs-you.html and: playing-traditional-jazz.blogspot.com/2013/03/buskers-books-and-fake-books.html
Absolutely brilliant! Just can't understand how so many people just walked on by and ignored the performance.
Barry Lowe
I've always loved this kind of music. Check out Fats Domino's cover of this great song.
Really agree
So vibrant and full of energy. Even the Rotti gave a touch of the unexpected . Great stuff .
That dance alone is worth $ 20 of any ones money!!!!!!
I look for these guys every time in New Orleans. Love this video thanks!!!

Ambos bailarines son increíbles
Hey looky ... Shaye Cohn on piano ........
Whar a fantastic show wish we had the likes in the uk
Thanks! Kiowa makes the song threatening and obscene as it was intended to be!
Pretty cool how the singer is playing a selmer style guitar. Good show
In fact, it looks like he broke a string. Great playing
The question is:Where do they play when it rains?A terrific band.
Chance & Amy quelle prestance ,Amy semble pouvoir prendre son envol...!
clarinet player is f'in amazing
@MrPisster in case you were wondering, Red's name is Amy, and her friend is Chance. Fabulous dancers.
The dancers were getting so sturdy bruhhh
Talkin' bout who's who that gots to be Allynda Segarra on banjo. I, personally, don'tmind the gritty singer at tall.

Just fantastic and love the dancers Australia
Great Dixie interpretation! Keep on.
Wish I could dance like that.
Damn, good on, ya brothers
Wonderful music band. I can smell the Bop
Isn't that shay kahn on the piano? Tuba skinny shay?
It certainly is - but she's Shaye Cohn.
Nice voice, nice person :)
Does this predate the founding Of TS? Dis Shaye start TS - with whom else? I'd love to see someone write a book, essay, thesis or theme on TS.
Yes, Tuba Skinny was formed in 2009. Ivan at Pops Coffee wrote a book called "Tuba Skinny and Shaye Cohn". It is available from Amazon.
Du vrai...Du pur. BRAVOO les gars pour votre talent,et merci pour avoir partage votre savoir par
votre magnifique video
Amy I'm curious how many pairs of shoes you go through in a year dancing on the street??!!!

La música y la danza un arte
BRAVOOOOOO!!!
Good number
who's the trumpet?
I see that Shaye is on piano this time.
I think that was Ben Polcer.
Great dancers!
Love that name man!
was this in nawleans?
OK, so whats the dance Chance is doing at the beginning where he's crossing his feet up?
vocalist reminds me of TOM WAITS
@hincapiej4 Right in front of Brennan's so I'd guess yes.
Piękne,piękne,piękne!11
quelle ambiance
Yeeeeaa
bit harsh, the vocal is a very minimal part of the song, he's just covering that role
So do these guys have composition or do they just get the chords and melody and then imrpovise the rest???

Loving all your videos showing just how it should be done. Yet another "can't do shit" critic.

@gblan never been to new orleans so i wouldnt know
I was right - Shaye Cohn on piano.
Here's a dollar for your hat! -----> $1.00
@viktorvaldemar How does the clarinet player suck?
Better trade in what you have, it's not a good one
Great Jam spolit by a bad vocal, get a proper singer.
the guy who sang "Christmas Card From A Hooker In Minneapolis" had the same type of voice. I forget his name.
clarinet player is f'in amazing
