    Nice job! I just cut out the plywood floor for my Colorado Sevylor. I'm a little "bigger boned" than you so need something that handles more than 210 pounds :) :) I didn't even think about using PVC for the racks. Using the heater to squash the PVC down for between the floor and the sides is genius.

    Love it!!! I am modding my explorer K2 right now. Didn't think about using PVC for the skeleton. PVC is pretty cheap and easy to work with. Gonna have to take some your ideas and use them to mod mine. Thanks for the video!!!

      Did you end up making your own rack ?

    • @jharuni
      @jharuni 3 роки тому

      @@Grievous- No. I had lots of fun with my new K1 last summer. I even bought a second one. But now I do not think this kayak is versatile or robust enough to be worth all the effort shown in this video. It's just a 10 foot long beach ball. I don't expect it to last very long and I would not use it around rocks, sand, waves, wind, or anything other than deep calm water like ponds and small lakes. So all that effort shown here, while very creative, is better put into a different boat if you are serious enough to want to use it for regular fishing.

    • @Grievous-
      @Grievous- 3 роки тому

      @@jharuni I agree with you there, it's great for a novelty but not for something you want lots of use out of. I have the K1 and it has a slow leak on the front right side and I'm told that 1 out of 3 inflatable kayaks come like that unfortunately. Going fishing in mine tomorrow on a Lake but staying close to camp.

    • @jharuni
      @jharuni 3 роки тому +3

      @@Grievous- One of mine was used about 40 times last summer on a reservoir and developed a tiny hole. Not into the air chamber but into the foot well. Not a big deal, after a couple of hours there's a cup or two of water in the boat. Hopefully this summer I'll buy a grown up kayak. I still think that for $100 the K1 probably provides more fun per dollar than literally anything else on the planet.

    Nice DIY, Brah!
    You've definitely inspired me to do something similar to my K2 Challenger, which I typically use solo. I don't use the front seat, which is where I put all my gear, so I'm thinking a similar style rack in this front area.
    I'm going to highly recommend a PVC cutter though. It cuts through PVC like butter and in seconds! I've got a $3 one from Harbor Freight , which I've been using for years.
    Ahh PVC pipes, zip ties and pool noodles! Mans' greatest inventions as far as I'm concern lol

    Great set up, but loose the hammer when gluing the pvc pipe together. The glue sets fast and your weakening the bond by hammering it. Just coat both pieces of pvc and push together while twisting one piece a half turn. You'll end up with a much better joint connection.

    Nice add-ons. Just a couple of things. I don't mean to slam you but please, usr the proper items and tools for what you're using it for. 1) You shouldn't have to hammer the pipe into the fitting, actually you shouldn't. Take a piece of sandpaper and sand the fittings and pipe BEFORE you glue it. Plus the sanding cleans the PVC for gluing. 2) Please use a knife to clean off the PVC edges. The way you did it destroys hacksaw blades. 3) May I suggest just using a PVC end cap for your cup holder? It's a lot cheaper. 4) There are 3/4" & 1" reducers to 1/2" PVC. Also, there are screw-on irrigation PVC fitting that you can use for your risers. They are right next to your elbows you got. 5) You have a Dremel. So many of the rough edges and break off's you did could be done with the Dremel. Lastly, it's not a "grinder gun", it's a Dremel! Ha ha ha. Great mods though!
