@@spiritualundergroundpodcast That's great to hear! Do you know how I can get his schedule by any chance? I'm right next to Philly and would love to do one of his walks.
I was glad to hear accounts of the 47th North Carolina as I had two great great grandfathers in that regiment. Neither left an account that I know of. One of them was later wounded at Bristoe Station and was on detached duty after he recovered for the rest of the war. Thanks again StuffWriter and Matt for the great content.
Matt is so good with Kids.. we may never know how many of the Kids he’s interacted with over the years were influenced in their future endeavors by him. Well done
Thank u kindly Matt and S.W. This is the best thing going that has to do with American history or history in general. Really really appreciate your work
Not sure what was causing it, but there was a pretty heavy bass rumble through the whole video, even without traffic. But thanks very much for capturing this account. It's not a unit or a spot on the field I've seen before.
Thank you for another great video. I do wish you'd get a dead cat (windscreen) for the mic, (which I hope is a shotgun, or mini shotgun), as the wind noise makes it very hard to use ear buds. One day, I hope to win the lottery, and join Ranger Matt in person. Until then, I enjoy him through you.
Matt did several first days battle on Scales and Penders, and several other attacks that I have been searching for. The programs used to be on UA-cam and got me hooked on his tours probably 10+ years ago. They are no longer online, sadly. I remember him mentioning the Sid Myers Gettysburg computer game and Matt saying in our Southern accent, "William Dorsey Pender is alllllways ready for a fight " ! Lol Anyone know of the video I mentioned. I think it was for a Pennsylvania electric company. Great work as always Stuffy.
What Matt says about Reynolds is another piece of what I think caused Lee to fight there right to the end. If Lee sees Reynolds previous actions as just another piece of the bumbling of Yankee leadership, whether he was a fighter or not, it would embolden Lee to fight at Gettysburg and try to get another Chancellorsville, or Fredericksburg, where the Union forces get whipped despite having superior numbers. More than anything, it was Lees decision to keep up the fight that created the scenario that was Gettysburg.
Matt is Hilarious.... Says the seargant would tell you about your short comings and then looks at the dwarf in the group and says no pun intended almost fell out of my chair
The 80th were the 20th NY state milita before the war and were known by either name. Much like the 14th Brooklyn Zouaves were the 84th NY in US Army identification.
I don't know much about the battle of Waterloo, but I do know how the Brits defeated Napoleon there. The Duke of Wellington had the troops lined up in squares. Napoleon's men couldn't break through. So when you mentioned that today, that was the first thing I thought about. You made an interesting point.
The famous British square yes Matt with charging cavalry the square would have men at the front with bayonets fixed but also two ranks behind firing and loading to pick off the cavalrymen other wise the front rank would be shot to pieces
The 3rd Arkansas never gets any attention. Only unit from that state in the ANV. Terrain shouldn't stop people. We who are into this could care less about going into woods etc.
Thank you StuffWriter, for all your work. I can't get there because I'm in a wheelchair.
There are places for wheel chair s. I'm sorry
AND for being willing to sacrifice your hat...
Matt is a Gettysburg treasure.
Had the privilege of joining Matt on this walk, it was a pure delight
What's he like during the in-between areas when Stuff isn't filming? Does he talk to people, or does he act differently?
@@Alex-ej4wmhe’s the same Matt. Very personable.
Matt is awesome
@@Alex-ej4wm Same guy all the time, stayed after to answer questions, after the filming was over, exactly the same guy❤️

Wish Matt could do a talk about Buford’s Calvary

Matt is one strange dude, but entertaining
Looks like Matt has a new hat !
Cool Guide👍🏻✌️
i believe it should be 80th NY instead the 20th NY

I know this is random but the woman in the white hat and orange shirt I could sworn she was on another of Matt walks it was the one with the White dog
But what is Matt drinking?
Matt’s epexegeses 😮(plural) are nonpareil!
Thank you for this. So useful. The southern accent seems a bit overdone no?
The dude is from Mississippi.
