I just want to ask, is that a place where lions are too near to people's places and often they harm people? And how many Apex Predators do we have right now in there and how many millions of wilderbeast, buffalos, and all other herds are left?,,, do we have more than enough carnivore animals in there to balance the nature?
There are plenty of apex predators on the African plains, this is a game reserve and the people who run it know exactly what's on the land, They wouldn't hunt that lion without knowing it wont disturb the balance.

It is indeed 100% legal. This was most likely done on a private owned reserve and it serves more a purpose than just fun. The act of hunting sustains wildlife not only is the money the hunters shell out given to anti poaching efforts but the act of harvesting an animal helps the ecosystem.
If you have the money, a very commendable project. But assuming you don't have the money, without regulated private hunting there would be more endangered species, gene pools would be smaller, and the wilderness areas you see in this video would be turned over to developers.
Music at the beginning was annoying and inappropriate. After the video got going, the music was 180 degrees different, and pleasing in the background. The guys were great !

Selling a single lion to a zoo will bring in a bit of money now, but there aren't enough zoos in the world to raise the amount of money needed to protect the habitat across Africa where lions live and where they need our help. Only hunting can bring in enough funds to protect the land. Protecting the land protects the species. Hunting a few animals each year saves thousands of animals each year. Do this all over Africa and you save millions of animals.

Thousands of dollars that fund more animals on different habitats. So a couple of entities benefit: The outfitter, the land owner, the professional hunter, the guides and staff on the hunt and in the lodge plus communities around the hunting areas ranging from schools to just plain poor people who can never afford meat. And you do this all over again by hunting more animals like this, protecting enough so the numbers stays the same or climb. Simple mathematics really

Every part of the lion gets utilised. The hunter keeps the trophy and the meat gets consumed in camp and by the local community. The dollars paid for the hunt gets pumped back into conserving the habitat for all wildlife present in that area. The same goes for the eland, oryx and springbok. We call it sustainable utilisation. We utilise the wildlife in a sustainable manner. Management of animal numbers by hunting. Management of habit by controlling game numbers.
Stoffel is wearing the best camo ever @ 14 minutes. That is the old SAP riot camo called Pinwheel. This is surpassed in collectability by only 1 other and that is Rhodesian Brushstroke pattern.
It's not a "tripod", they're called shooting sticks and are used because of the weight of the safari rifles and to make sure the hunter has a steady shooting platform. When shooting dangerous game, the tracker will carry the sticks, while the PH will carry a rifle for backup.
What a remarkable tracker. We had a Visual Tracker School in U.S. Army Special Operations. There was one Apache instructor but I am not sure he could match these African trackers.

It's not a "tripod", they're called shooting sticks and are used because of the weight of the safari rifles and to make sure the hunter has a steady shooting platform. When shooting dangerous game, the tracker will carry the sticks, while the PH will carry a rifle for backup.
What a remarkable tracker. We had a Visual Tracker School in U.S. Army Special Operations. There was one Apache instructor but I am not sure he could match these African trackers.
