Bat-Mite is the best! It's also worth mentioning that the Teen Titans cartoon introduced Larry, an annoying, obsessive fan of Robin's who is a 5th dimensional imp, too! He even ended up getting adapted into the comics under the name Nite-Mite.
I always wondered if Larry appeared anywhere else. Did not know about Nite-Mite. Thanks for sharing! And who else wants to see the Trinity complete with a 5D imp for Wonder Woman? I think that could be fun.
@@CapnAlcesI'm pretty sure there's a character named wondermite that appeared in the batmite comics, but there's another one called Shaggy the leprechaun, who's an ally of Diana also from the 5th dimension
Nite Mite and Larry are VERY different. Notably rather than being an annoying fanboy or negative presence overall, Nitemite is genuinely helpful and a fun helping hand. He seems to be a much more healthy take on a fan of a superhero.
I loved Bat-Mite appearance in Batman the Brave and the Bold, I loved how he's a well mean misguided fan instead of an outright villian like Mister Mxyzptlk.

Finally, this channel talks about the most important introduction in the history of Batman antagonists: The Yellow Gloves Gang. I hope they show up in the Penguin show.
I never got what this period of late 50s into the 60s had with these imps that appeared to be everywhere. It was Gazoo in the Flintstones, Impossible Man in Fantastic Four, Mxyzptlk with Superman, Qwsp with Aquaman. "Imp using infinite powers to cause annoyance" must have been on the drawer of Silver Age ideas together with "one of the characters turns fat or is transformed into a gorilla".
And some people add Mr. Genie (with Wonder Tot) to the list. And very rarely Mopee for the Flash. And whenever anyone mentions Qwsp, I have to mention that... um, actually... Quisp (as he was originally known) was an ally of Aquaman, who helped Aquaman deal with the evil imp Quirk. So, Grant Morrison got it really wrong when using Quisp (now being called Qwsp) as an enemy of Aquaman.
Curiously, Batmite had a crush on Batgirl in the 1977 series. Tbh, a romance between them wold have been 1000 more appropiate than...you know...Killing Joke movie
He liked all the Bat females, though he was particularly creepy with Barbara, probably because she had no interest in the Dynamic Duo, whereas the Kanes did.

Wow, I completely memory-holed the New Adventures of Batman. That clip of Bat-Mite brought it all back. I watched at least some of them when Batman was paired with Tarzan on Saturday mornings. I would've been under 10 y/o. Characters like Bat-Mite and Scrappy-Doo were supposed to be "kid-relatable", but I always found them annoying. They've grown on me though, lol! Great Bat-Mite voice! I totally loved this, thank you!
Perhaps editor Jack Schiff decided to give Batman a Mxyzptlk-type menace but writer Bill Finger decided to make Bat-Mite an overzealous fan instead of a deliberate pest.
As a kid I remember seeing that episode of TAS and freaking out initially -- i was so excited to see Bat-Mite in the show! The reality of what happened left me very disappointed. XD

Bat-Mite's chest logo is part bat design and part stylised lightning bolt, rendered sideways (a la Barry Allen's Flash belt) and colored black. Sadly, my first encounters with the little twerp were on "The New Adventures of Batman" cartoon in 1977. Because he wasn't used in moderation there, I learned to hate him. In the comics, I usually don't mind him, and on "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" I actually enjoyed him.
I liked Bat-Mite's 2015 series. It was fun seeing him interact with different characters. Also the Inferior Five made an appearance and that's always nice to see.
Since you made a Bat-Mite video, can you make one on other Bat-Mite type counterparts to the superheroes like Larry from the original Teen Titans cartoon?
As someone who grew up in the '70s-and whose first exposure to Bat-Mite was that Filmation cartoon-I love Bat-Mite. I don't have a lot of affinity for the later, too-grim, too-gritty, pathological-loner rebooting of Batman, when it was decided that his world should be too down-to-earth and depressing to allow for the weird and whimsical. Have you heard the fan theory that the little old neighbor on the Peacemaker TV show is really Bat-Mite?
My first exposure to Batman was the Filmation animated series featuring the green-faced Bat-Mite. So I've always liked him and glad he stuck around post-Crisis. There is potential in the character beyond silliness.
Bat-Mite had a fun little romp in Detective Comics #482. I consider "Legend of the Dark Mite" episode on B:TB&TB the greatest Batman story ever written in any medium.
I put Bat-Mite in the same category as Vicky Vale: a Batman version of a Superman character. He should be used sparingly (I think Michael Golden drew one of his appearances, and at least none of his appearances have been as badly written as Vicky Vale in All-Star Batman.), but considering all the extra-dimensional stuff Chip Zdarsky's current run has, the character probably fits right in unfortunately.
Dear Sasha, love your content. Please could you cover the Post Crisis Bat Mite appearances, including the trippy Legends of the Dark Knight appearance by Alan Grant?
Funny enough, I recently discussed Bat-Mite in some of my own videos, since I was opening up those McFarlane New Adventures of Batman figures. There's a Bat-Mite figurine that comes with Commissioner Gordon. Anyway, I suspect that Bat-Mite's odd coloring here was the result of the person responsible for picking out the colors on the show. I know they liked to use pink A LOT, see Bat-Mite's boots and gloves. He also used pink a lot in the Star Trek Animated series Filmation did a few years before. Villains in pink uniforms, pink tribbles, etc.
Bat-mite might already be in the new DCU as they did reference his existence in the Peacemaker series, which will continue and be part of Gunn's new universe. We might see a live action Bat-Mite sooner than later, and it will probably be voiced by Sean Gunn lol... who already has 2 roles in James's new universe (as he is continuing with Weasle in Creature Comandos and was also announced as Maxwell Lord)
My guess for why he chose the 'chemicals in the river causing hallucinations' excuse first was that he did know that the company was dumping chemicals, but was also aware that this wasn't a problem that could be caused by punching people, so he decided that since he needed an excuse anyway, he might as well start a rumour to put more pressure on the company. He's more than smart enough to make one lie do double or triple duty.
Having gone through my latest pair of rubber gloves when washing up on tuesday night, I am wondering how much wear and tear the yellow glove gang's gloves go through. Where do they get replacements from? Are they affiliated with Gloveworld? Would they be Spongebob favourites Batman villains? Going down the rabbit hole! I love Bat Mite. He has had some strong outings down the years. The second annual from the Batman Superman series that came pre World's finest was really good. Best was Evan Dorkin's prestige format one shot 'World's funnest'. Where the two of them destroy the multiverse. A faboulous homage to many different comics and eras.
When I was little, I hated Bat-Mite on the New Adventures of Batman. But, over the course of 13 episodes, he actually displayed growth and an increase in competency. He had an actual arc of improvement, even if he was creepy hanging onto Barbara's butt on her Bat Cycle. 😅
I believe that Bat-mite is a good character when used properly. And speaking of Mixie, there’s more of an interesting and stronger connection between the two in the comics.
Why does Batman feel he needs to explain everything? Because he is Batman! He is a know-it-all. "I'm Batman, I knew that already." I like Batmite better than Mister what's-his-name. He is more comical because he is such a goof.

The Bat-Mite stories are fun in moderation. Along with the Silver-Age Batwoman appearances, they're some of the few Highlights from the late 50's/ early 60's era. Batman: The Brave and the Bold perfected him though.
It's hard to hate Bat-Mite since there is a bit of him in all of us. Hell I'd be pestering Batman to see if I could try on one of the Robin suits. As for the Yellow Glove Gang I imagine their gloves are nice and formfitting so movement isn't impeded.

Paul Rubens was the perfect Bat-Mite, the same can be said about Gilbert Gottfried as Mr, Myxelplik. they will both be missed.
Even with your goofy voice overs you're easily the least annoying channel talking about comics I've come across! Thank you!
