10 Effective Ways to Get Rid of Fleas
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 вер 2019
- Fleas are seemingly impossible to get rid of. As soon as you’ve annihilated them from one place, like, for example, your house or yard or pets, it doesn’t mean they’re gone; it only means that they already found another place to breed themselves into a widespread infestation.
First of all, you need to remember that nothing will replace a good old cleaning. All the remedies and repellents will have a much better effect if you combine them with vacuuming, shampooing carpets, and of course, bathing your pets if you have them. But don’t rush to spread poisonous toxins all over. There are natural ways to alleviate this tiny pest! Take these cool life hacks that’ll help you immensely in your struggle against these horrible pests.

SUMMARY:
- A good recipe will contain vinegar - fleas hate it! The easiest one to get at any time would be apple cider vinegar. Just mix it 1 to 1 with water, and spray the areas where you’ve seen fleas.
- Vinegar is extremely effective, but if you don’t like the smell, you may want to try something else. Lemons need to be shredded in thin slices and dropped into water with all the juice and peel. Lemon peel has another helpful effect - it has essential oils in it, which are also universally hated by fleas.
- Just grind some dry rosemary into dust and sprinkle it around your house. It won’t do much for the existing infestation, but it’ll prevent any future ones.
- Fleas are uncontrollably attracted to light in the dark, especially yellow light. The easiest way to use this against the fleas is to set a small light right over a big dish that’s filled with a water and dish soap mixture.
- If letting your dog out in the yard is scary due to pesky jumpers hopping on their back, just find those shady places where your pet likes to lay a lot. If you can, fence it away from Fido, and then drop some cedar chips around the area.
- Diatomaceous earth is the most convenient way to get rid of fleas in your yard. First - because they’ll stand out from it too much visually, and second - because it’s lethal for fleas, but almost perfectly harmless to anything else.
- Baking soda or salt are perfect if you still don’t trust DE or other unfamiliar remedies. It won’t be as effective, and you may need to repeat the process of sprinkling it all over the place and vacuuming it up several times.
- Pinewood sawdust will scare flees away in no time, but obviously, don’t try to use it in the house. It’s more of an outdoors thing that can help you secure your house from recontamination after you’ve cleaned it from floor to ceiling.
- Nematodes are small and constantly hungry worms that will chomp their way through your entire yard, eating any bug smaller than them. What’s good about these worms is that they’ll leave absolutely no flea eggs or larva on the ground.
- Sulfur or boric acid are fine powders or solutions that are cheap and easy to find in any pharmacy. They’ll be lethally toxic for fleas if you sprinkle them thinly.

Hey there, BrightSiders! Have u or your pet ever suffered from fleas?

I spray the apple cider vinegar with water and a bit of drops of lavender essential oil to protect my dog from fleas when she goes outside . Has worked for more than a year and it’s natural ♥️
Did you spray that directly on the dog?
Dave i wouldn’t recommend spraying any essential oils on your pets! but around carpets and outdoors is just fine :)
Where do you spray it on your dog?
It’s OK if you sprayed on your dog just very very very very little Too much of any essential oils can be very very harmful But if you do please be very very cautious and don’t use a lot Like less than four drops
Dave yes . But I only put like 2 drops off essential oils and 1/2 organic apple cider with 1/2 water in spray bottle . Don’t spray the face . For the face I spray my hands and then rub a bit on her .
Anyone dealing with this.. like I am.. you have my sympathy. I have an exterminator coming in today. I tried it all.. me and my two cats are done!! Ugh.
I am so relieved to feel not alone. fleas are so icky. thank you.
The most important thing you haven't mentioned is to vacuum 24 hours prior to doing anything because the vibrations break open flea eggs allowing the treatment to work. Second most important thing, immediately empty the vacuum canister/bag outside. Otherwise the fleas can escape. I learned this from a pest control guy.
Thank you very much for this tip. Haven’t had a major problem, because I just got these pets(I actually think that my cats gave to my dog)but I want to get on top of this BEFORE it becomes a major problem. Thanks again.

Regular white distilled vinegar is a natural fabric softener.
Also, if you leave your laundry in the washer and they get that funky mold odor just use a 1/4 cup and wash in hot water and your laundry will be fresh.
I use it in every load. Just makes everything smell very fresh.

April Ray I have a question. So my daughter’s favorite shirt some how got stuck under the rug for the bathroom. It then grew like this black mold?... anyways I was not sure if there was a great remedy..... maybe you can help me out?

Also a half t-spoon of organic raw apple cider vinegar added to fresh filtered water in a scrubbed clean stainless steel bowl (not plastic) every second day will keep the fleas away... A few drops of Neem oil with about 10 drops of essential lavender sprayed on your pet and through the house as the Neem has a yuk smell but works amazing 😉. So bad it effected house humans with bites....your video is very helpful.

I have kittens with fleas too. I tried DE for a few days now and already cleaned the house but I still see fleas on them. I don't know what to do anymore.
I sold my house because of fleas. Never knew fleas could get in your house. I have no pets so i am the host. Oh and fleas have followed me to my new house.
@@marthacooper543 the fleas are in your stuff. Just wash everything and wipe down surfaces, use DE and borax u should be fine
That's yours buyer's revange.
For the flea larva and eggs just make sure you keep your pet away from them, they should die of starvation or at best stop laying eggs since they can only lay eggs 24 hours after feeding so if you have a flea repellent collar for your pet and also use the flea treatment with all this tips mentioned in this video it will be extremely difficult for fleas to get any chance of populating your pet and home.

In Cuba, where I was born, they use vinegar to prevent skin sun burns. Usually, old people put pure vinegar directly on the skin of kids after have been exposed to sun all day long on the beach. They take a fresh shower prior to apply the vinegar.
I've been fighting fleas in my place and body over 10 years when I live in an apartment that had dogs but I had none. I will try some of these natural things to help.
It's so frustrating how long this has been around and how common of a problem this is and still no one has come up with one straight forward solution to getting rid of fleas.

If you have hardwood floors its important to vacuum all the crevices where they hatch later!
Hah once my blanket had fleas. I proceeded to *naturally* throw it away.

Great. but the were probably on more than just that blanket
lol its not that easy to throw away a floor tho
Nice! Talk about timing. I actually have a flea problem inside the house. Over here in cali we have a lot of stray cats roaming around, and are having babies all over the place. Nobody seems to care about how they continue to roam around.
I like the 10 ways and have used some of them for years. Fostering new puppies and dogs brings back the fear of getting more fleas. I had fun watching the cartoons and have confidence that there IS a way to get rid of the fleas inside and outside of my home!
I use a night light on a extension cord put in the opening of a gallon milk jug leaving the conners as legs. Then set that on a plate with dawn dish soap and water. The night light should be about 6 to 8 inches above the plate. The heat from The night light draw the fleas and you will see them add up till they are gone. Moving it to different places also.
Thank you for all your suggestions; Merry Christmas and the best of New Year hope it’s better for all of us. Shar TN.
Thank you so much the lemon water really worked it’s so useful

@ Natasha's Beauty Studio. I found a few on my dog and woke up with one on my bed a few days ago. I spent the entire day washing everything in hot water. Gave my dog her first of several flea baths and used a flea comb. I used baking soda mixed with sea salt on my carpet and furniture. Vacuumed my furniture and I’m vaccumimg all floors daily. I’m also using vets best home spray. Accidentally ordered the kind for cats but it’s fine to use. Smells like strong peppermint. Sprayed down everything soft. Used raid flea killer spray on the base boards. Also bought the Adams flea spray that I spray in dark area where fleas usually nest. Haven’t seen any fleas since I started but I heard they hide well. I been reading about diatomaceous earth so I’m probably gonna go ahead and order that in food grade because of my dog. I keep a clean house never thought this would happen. I’m so scared they gonna pop up in again.
Apply coconut oil to your pets while u are cleaning and spraying apple cider mixture anywhere it helps a lot and makes ur pets furr amazing too.
Very useful and informative video. I recently purchased Simparica Trio for my puppy and the result is amazing. Keep it up.
Thank you! Fun and informative!
Your video is very helpful and I like the humor in it!
Also, I would recommend using any form of dish soap by Dawn. It works wonderfully as a flea killer, but it’s not a repellent. I use 1 tablespoon for 8 ounces of water when I bathe my dog. Apple cider vinegar with mother organic works and so does lemon juice. I hope this helps here’s to getting rid of those pesky fleas 🤯☺️

@ButterflyGirlForever you should first disinfect your cats, since you have only one couch/bed and no rugs it should be very easy to get rid of these, fleas usually stay on rugs and beds, use baking soda on your couch and bed, you can also use peppermint oil, lavender oil or even tea tree oil mixed with water and spray it on your couch/bed, furniture, anywhere basically, make sure to also clean the corners of the floor, windows. Buy a steamer and steam your couch and bed and your cat trees. Another one is putting water with soap on a plate or a flat box or something and leave it there, fleas will fly into the water and later die because of the soap. If you do this everyday I’m sure they’ll be gone. Try having a three store house tho lol, this is a nightmare.

What purpose do fleas serve? Why do we have to put up with them?
And ticks & mosquitoes !
their purpose is to annoy us
That's exactly why they're called parasites..
The same can be said about Mosquitoes and termites.
Mosquitoes and termites serve a purpose of being a natural food supply for other animals, from what I can tell ticks and fleas fill that same niche
Thanks. This is what I need.
Man, you blew up, 30 million, you are on the most subscribed now.
I can not break the cycle of fleas this summer.😢 Every few weeks I have to treat every thing. This summer has been the worst ever for fleas with my creatures.
I totally agree
I can relate to that. The fleas in Florida are awful and seem immune to many veterinary treatments. Time for the natural remedies. I made my dog a Dawn, apple cider vinegar, and water shampoo. Now my roommate has to take care of her little dogs. I’m currently working on a spray for the fluffy furniture, dog beds, and floors - no carpet except a small area in my room that I may just rehome to the dumpster!
@RoadThruGrace we have them bad here in UK only thing that worked was Advocate on the cat and critterkill in house
Since we bring them in on our shoes and clothes always treat your yard and spray your shoes and pant legs..if you get DE food grade you can dust it on your cat or dog. They can be dormant for years in the baseboards and emerge when conditions are right ie: you get a pet..keep DE in your vac bag
This makes me happy.
Thank you for information
Use Vets Best Flea & Tick Spray you can spray it on your furbabies, your bed & your floor. I use Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade powder too. But it has to be FOOD GRADE!!! You can sprinkle it on the floor then vaccumm it up. You can also spread it around all over your yard too just like the regular DE, but the Food Grade is safe for pets. Rosemary can't be used around Pets that have Seizures.

My little one dug a hole in the carrot patch and sat in it. Every since then flees. Managed to deal with them, but took a long time. Now she has a flea collar. Bathed her in flea shampoo, and that helped a little. Now looking for a more natural remedy. The house carpets shampood, with hot water, furniture steamed cleaned, bedding washed on hot wash.
DE is also recommended for internal parasites. I mixed it with wet cat food last week (1/2 tsp for cats under 5 lbs, 1 tsp for everybody else). No ill effects. Best to use a mask during and wash one's hands after mixing (my advice, anyway). I worry about pets breathing it in, but if they are not sleeping on chairs I treat then vacuum? I'll definitely be using the vinegar solution on furniture and rugs though. Thanks!
Is it ok for human to take for parasites?
