Thank you for this. I was just about to set in the sleeves, & not sure about all the excess fabric around the sleeve head, as I didn't bring the instructions with me! You saved my bacon!!
I patiently watched the video, such an informative nd interesting process👏👏.Pattern manipulation made me not to go without sewing basics which leads to neat nd good product.I am a Senior Certificate obtained in Clothing Production. Will always watch your videos willing to study further.
Hey Giuseppe, thank you for your message and support. I have been gifted by Lord and while I am still able to I will keep making a diverse range of videos! P.S. we are looking to have our first full live chat Saturday the 30th of April 9am Sydney time if you would like to join us.
I've had this pattern for years and it is definitely one that you must take your time with - quite the puzzle initially. 😊😊But once you get the swing of it - great for making Cassocks. Very good video.
God bless Asfybylorna, thank you for your comment! This was an extremely hard video to make with camera angles but I am learning more every video I make! 🙏
You welcome Raquel but the reality is I wouldn't have made it unless you brought it to my attention. Thank you for having the confidence in me making the Cassock! P.S. You are doing a great job at Mirrabooka!
wow! this is amazing work, Moussa. You made such a daunting task for people with no dressmaking experience look so easy. Thanks a lot, Raquel, for sharing this.
I have question. What kind of fabric and how much should I get for made a size 46 cassock, please? I jus get the patterns and with your well explained video I feel confortable doing it. Thank you for sharing your talents 😊
Good on you! I don't have the butterick pattern with me, but I remember getting an idea of the quantity from the layout section. But remember that it is all based on the width of fabric you buy, which generally in Australia we have 110cm or 150cm We used a light poly cotton fabric because our priests generally wear white for summer and black for winter. If you are making it for winter, then a wool fabric is what is used, which really depends on your climate. I hope this helps!
I have a question. I have made this cassock but in size 48. The body of the cassock fits father perfectly but the neck hole needs to be smaller. Any suggestions?
Good job with that, I am happy to know that. The collar opening being either to small or to big is common. The tab is wide enough to adjust either in or out so you can stitch the button closer if you haven't already. Can I ask what type of fabric you used? After making the video I have noticed In a lot of cases the fabric will shrink after a few trips to the dry cleaner's.
The fabric I used was a poly cotton broadcloth that is machine washable, so shrinkage isn’t a problem. The cassock fits perfectly but the neck needs to be smaller so the collar fits up against the stiff white collar. What’s the best way to do that?
Thanks for clearing that up. It would really help if I could see it on Fr. If you have a picture you are welcome to send it to moussa@quantumhomeimprovements.com.au To be totally honest with you, I am worried to advise you because I don't know the level of your experience. However if it was me and it's a black Cassock and adjusting the buttons closer is not an option then I would either make a smaller collar and reduce the fabric on the centre back to fit the new size collar. Or depending on the thickness of the fabric reduce both the centre back and collar but the first option is the best way to go.
@@Geismary7 It's been a huge day for me and I am about to go to sleep but I had to message you first. After thinking about your situation further I think I would probably make life easier and just unpick the collar fron both ends and then reduce the collar size marginally then re-stitch it back on. However, I couldn't say exactly until I saw it on first.
Hi Anna, It's good you are giving the cassock a go! This pattern was Raquel's and I don't have access to see the 'A' pattern. However, if you like you could take a photo of the instruction details that are relevant and email them to me so I can give you a better idea what to do. The address is: moussa@quantumhomeimprovements.com.au
Me too! Unfortunately I had around 4 hours in total of corrupt footage when making the video which was very frustrating. Being a dress making I understand how you feel. Were you able to work it out?
It's amazing how to sew a cassock
Thanks Sister Gemma, and very satisfying because it's a lot involved! 🙏

That's an inside joke between dressmakers! Lol, I am glade you liked it, thanks Joseph!
Wow. I'm amazed at the skill required. Much involved in making a garment. Thank you Moussa. 👌
