- Shazam! has been the surprise superhero hit of the year, and a big part of its success is due to its lead actor Zachary Levi. He may be the last actor you would think of to play a superhero, but Levi nails the role.

6'4" and 215 is still pretty skinny actually. Don't get me wrong, I think what he's done is impressive, but there is a reason why they still had to pad his suit.

Plus, let's be real, steroids, or his doctor putting him on 'HRT' and basically prescribing him Test and becoming his steroid dealer. I'm sorry, Levi, wasn't a skinny 15 year-old, and you don't get crazy gains like that after your growth spurt has leveled off. 24 pounds of lean muscle, and he says he's leveled off at 215? It simply isn't true. Even if it was YOUR job, to get into that sort of shape at that age, that's several years of dedication to put on that sort of mass, or it's synthetically assisted. Actors can't just beef up like that naturally. Nobody can do that naturally in that time window.
In fact, 215 is an unnatural weight I would say, and something that is not naturally 'maintainable', at that body fat. There is something else going on there, and of course the suit is padded to make him look even bigger. Anyone in that sort of shape and size, natural, would explain to you that they've been lifting religiously for years on years, and the natural plateau is below 215 and it didn't happen in 6 months, 16 months, 24 months...
What he is saying is he put on 24 pounds of muscle and shaved off 12 pounds of fat in what I would imagine is under a year for the project. It's just not possible. It's definite work, and time and dedication, but I really hate these stories that people eat up that people can put on 5 years of training and rigorous diet mass in under a year, naturally. That's not the whole story.

That's what l have been saying for years rappers actors take them. No way could anyone get that big and ripped in sometimes months . two people l knew were on the cover of flex magazine in the 80s one l helped in spotting. I asked the gym owner can you get that big without steroids ,she said it would take you 20 yrs without them. She was telling me you need them if you want to look like that or just to not expect to look like that in a short time or ever naturally.

After being a boom-operator (as it is called) myself for 5 years, I can tell you my arms, shoulders and core have gotten quite the workout. Even holding a carbon fiber pole (which weigh the least) for hours upon hours on a daily basis can be hard..
the hell....using padding on movies is a standard practice, it makes for that extra bulge portrayed on comics, but padding can't fake the basic mass needed for the aesthetics of the characters.
I think Ben Affleck had to use padding in his but it was very minimal. Henry Cavill was going to wear padding, but when he put his suit on it tore cause he was already so big, so when you see Superman, that's all Henry

Yeah, a thin layer of padding was most likely used as Shazam was never seen without his suit, but Levi's hard work in the gym and real gains can't be discredited.

I just watched this movie at an early showing... It is absolutely amazing!! Best DC movie I have ever seen. The story line was terrific, the jokes were funny, and the casting was terrific. Well done, Marvel better take notice.

Every single actor in a super hero movie wears a padded suit. Captain America, Thor, Bucky, Superman, Batman, Aquaman. That does not diminish the absolute killer shape these dudes get it in order to film intensely physical movies for 12-14 hours a day, 4-6 months at a time! Get it Zach, you're killing it dude!

But cavill is way shorter than both affleck and zachary levi. It makes sense for him to be more wide, and for them to be taller and thinner.

Well if I'm not mistaken he was casted about five months before shooting so it's pretty hard to be built like the rock who is his arch nemesis basically (and he probably won't even top the rock's physique let's be honest)
But in a possible sequel I think he will take it to the next level and the suit will look more real on him
