Everyone, I found the video that first inspired me to make this dub! Check it out -- it's a Russian dub of the first version of this comic (My video is the second version of this series, and the third version is continuing on Tumblr). Their mic isn't the highest quality, but their voice acting is so good that it inspired a lot of me to try voice acting. this comic shows what I believe to be one of the most compelling and emotional way a story can go. When the hero's defining virtue becomes their fatal flaw and pushes them to insanity and villainy. And how only then does the villain realize the true consequences of their deeds, when it hurts someone they didn't even realize they cared about until they were lost.
So now Dream's the bad guy? And Nightmare's the good guy now...?

This au represents the true sides of light and darkness. That's why I love it. Realize that Dream was known as the positivity guardian while Nightmare was the bringer of fear. Now you would think that Nightmare was now unsavable and pure evil while Dream was so pure, he would never be evil. Well this au proves this wrong. Dream can become corrupted and Nightmare can be saved. People just can't see that.
Another au named dreamswap also covers this topic slightly with Nightmare and the meme squad being in place of the star sanses and justice reigns (+ blueberry) in place of the evil sanses. Everyone in their universe would still have the same opinions as almost all the characters have the same or similar jobs to before. They just made different decisions.
I always thought that its stupid to think that all negative emotions are "bad",i mean fear can protect us from putting ourselves in danger ,anger can be a response to injustice,sadness can persuade others to help us with our problems and we wouldn't be humans without negative emotions aswell.

I can relate, I’ve been stuck in darkness when I was in 4th grade, I get treated like shit and get fake friends. I just want it to stop but i cant feel anything, i cant smile anymore, im not the happy girl everyone saw in 1st grade, im the girl who is stuck in depression and darkness that none of my friends can see. The bad thing is I understand Nightmare and think Dream is now OFFICIALLY being the bigger idiot.
This is like a Complete Swap of their characters, without removing their roles. Another brotherly fight hitting the levels of craziness, one who cared so much he rather become what he fought and be with his brother than fight it anymore. It's so poetic, and i like how when dream became like nightmare in a sense nightmare returned to normal sorta being like dream but not. It's a really amazing story and concept and dub.
It's like a literal DreamSwap!' without swapping the personalities but more gaining the perspectives from each other.

I’m watching this at twelve A.M. and I don’t regret it
God...honestly I never thought someone would go in this direction with Dream and Nightmare since it seems a bit cliched but THIS is awesome! You did a wonderful job bringing this masterpiece to life. This is a scenario that honestly i think is in character of Dream since probably all this time Dream felt horrible for what he done to his brother, letting him become a monster and in constant agony and internally wants to repay the debt and give justice but sees that the only way to make things right is to put the same weight amd pain Nightmare has had upon himself. I like how nightmare didnt want this to happen to dream, it really emphasizes that brotherly relationship the two had before the corruption.
This brother dynamic is done perfectly and I honestly like both characters. They remind me of Celestia and Luna of mlp but I'd honestly prefer Dream and Nightmare than the sisters since idk really. I guess the whole dream and nightmare dynamic. It just feels whole in my opinion.

honestly, i'm having a split reaction to shattered dream as two of my OCs and i'll explain the characters at the end.
cora is whimpering and hiding under a kitten themed blanket absolutely terrified of shattered dream.
silver is dead ass staring at nightmare when he gets scared with a "wtf" look since she viewed him as an emotionless wall of hate.

Cora is an OC i based a bit off of starcross who is a fan child of dream and cross, she views dream as her mother even if he's not actually female and she's very shy around others, she has a cousin/half-sibling named silver who she often walks around dreamtale with and enjoys spending time with. coras canon age is twenty one and basically just look up starcross for a general appearance since i haven't really drawn her myself yet.
Silver is an OC i based off of fell scourge from the helltrash AU(i think it's an AU anyways, i found fell scourge in an ask blog made by 6agentgg9 on tumblr and that username might change so don't use it XD) silver is and isn't a dreammare child, i don't ship dreammare at all because ew but it would fit her so i found a way to work around the idea of them *actually* having a kid together. silver was a fireball of magic similar to lux but black in color and was basically attatched to nightmare up until she started getting abused and mistreated as if she was a servant, of course however nightmare didn't ever actually want to do that to her but his corruption was in control so fastforward to the future when silver's killed by horror(the classic headdog scenario) but when her dust blew away there was another fireball and dream took her in instead, she grew up then knowing the new name silvia but of course cora found a way to bring her back blah-blah-blah and happy ending where nightmare finally goes back to normal. silvers canon age is 32 and again, look up helltrash fell scourge for general appearance. (holy fuck i just realized 6agentgg9 has a character named silver in a blog and FUCKKKKKKKK MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE i'm not finding a new name, fuck that -_- also sorry that silvers is longer, cora is newer and her story isn't exactly developed yet) (okay thank you for your time if you're all the way down here and have a good day/night

Like, Nightmare can't turn passive, there is no negative apple left, the negative apple wouldn't affect dream, and nightmare would be happy if his brother turned to his side (even though feeling a little tiny bit guilty).

I don't think it was dreams intention to eat the apple, remember the apple will change color from black and gold depending on the what your feeling either good or bad. I think dreams real intention was to simply show the apple to nightmare to show he's feeling the same thing, that's why he can hold the black apple without changing it. And he ate it because nightmare didn't believe in him, so in his desperation to show his feeling the same thing he ate it

I've watched this twice and while I do think it's an interesting perspective on the story, I feel like it would be impossible. There are no more apples. Even if there were, Dream wouldn't do this. He saw what the apples did to Nightmare, and he wouldn't put the hopes and dreams of others at risk just to prove a point to his brother. I don't know if Nightmare would change back either. His corrupted form seems to be past the point of remorse, and Dream's newfound negativity would most likely just anger him. Negativity + negativity shouldn't equal fixing him. I think the best way to fix him would be to force him to endure such concentrations of positivity that it would melt the extreme negativity away. What happened in the first place wasn't Dreams fault, and it wasn't Nightmare's fault. He was the subject to such bullying, and as a victim it must have made it impossible for him to speak up. He grew jealous of Dream because Dream got all the love, and Nightmare was hated. Dream probably knew something was up, but if he asked Nightmare would push him away. He probably didn't want to invade Nightmare's privacy, or maybe tried to hold on to false hope that Nightmare would be fine. When Nightmare corrupted the other side of the tree, he didn't mean to. He just wanted to prove that he could be good. That he could deserve to be loved just as much as Dream. He ate the apples out of desperation, and once he was turned, Nightmare was gone. Replaced by the pure negatives. I believe there is positivity in negativity. The chilling sadness that brings your loved ones round to warm you, the grief of losing someone that cleans your soul to remember the good, the guilt that drives you to tell the truth, the remorse of a wrong doing that makes you try to do better. But pure Negativity, such as hate, envy, rage, those can only lead to more darkness. There's a vast difference between the two levels, and now that Nightmare is filled with the darkest of darkness, the only way back that makes the most logical sense to me at least is a light strong enough to envelop the darkness and turn it into a shallow shadow of remorse for his actions, which could then become the pathway back to the lighter negatives, which Nightmare seemed to be associated with in the first place.
