I crashed my Lamborghini Gallardo and now i have to make the decision on whether i will rebuild my Lamborghini or claim the loss through my insurance. As soon as i start to take parts off this car i will void my insurance.

I’m an older car enthusiast and enjoy watching your videos. I do want to say however you are very fortunate to have a father who joins you on these builds, wonderful memories that you will have with you forever. My late father developed my car bug; unfortunately my work took me away from family for decades. So when I finally retired and moved closer I had only 3 months with him before he became ill and passed away. I had hoped to enjoy mountain cruising with him in my 911 but we never had the chance. Enjoy those moments with your dad, and again good work with your videos.

I must say, I love how Matt and Freddy, who are from 2 opposite ends of the world, get along like life long buddies, helping one another out, collaborating, sharing, ect..I watch both religiously, and I must say...they are awesome together. You probably won’t see this mate but i have been a subscriber for a while! Recently my car decided to give up on me due to fuel contamination. The intank fuel pump decided to give up! So long story short cleaned out the fuel tank cleaned the fuel lines and fitted new intank fuel pump and the new injectors and car is running just like new again! I was quoted 3k for all that to be done and had about 3 mechanics take the car for nearly 8 months! But I fixed the car in a couple of days! as I am a lorry driver and work a lot of hours and really only have couple days out the week when back home! Anyway thanks for doing what you do and if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have the nerve to have tried it!
I know it's crazy attempting to repair this but not only does the car have a lot of sentimental value it is also going to make a great project for the channel. Always good to see Mat, Toney and Freddie working together, so much energy and optimism, it's given my day a real boost. Glad no one was hurt in the crash and no more slicks in the UK unless it's on a track.

You have to admire Mat’s grit fixing this car. Being around this car after he crashed it isn’t as easy as people might think. Excited to see this done and back on the road!
If your talking about upgrading it you should definetly put a crazy widebodykit on the gallardo because alle the bodypanels have to be replaced either way and it might even be cheaper

These videos are truly so enjoyable to watch. Your guys energy is always so amazing and it’s so fun
This channel is a bit like Clarkson’s Top Gear. You’d watch them do anything just to watch their banter and whatever they get up to next. Mat could rebuild a washing machine and they’d still make it a funny and amazing watch. That’s the gold here. I’d be amazed in mainstream TV doesn’t approach Mat for Top Gear or a program, this is better than ANYTHING on Sky etc!!
The prevailing feeling I get from watching Mat's videos is that I want to be part of this friend group. Building the cars is great, and the videos are fantastic... but they just seem to genuinely like being 'round each other. That's the secret sauce. Best channel on UA-cam. Period.

My OG first car broke down and I had to buy a new one, but my parents and I love that 2013 Kia soul plus so much that we're fixing it by hand ourselves if we can get it to work. Sentimental value is everything :) I hope we can save our baby! been working on it for months it's just hard when money is tight. So glad you're good Mat, repairing is the right decision. I'm looking at at those tyres at 1.42 and it makes me think the same thing every time. Those aren't tyres for the road on a cold damp Leicestershire night, those semi-slicks belong on a warm track day where their immense grip can be built up to, nurtured and found. I'm going to love to see this car repaired but please, road tyres for the road.
Agreed. One thing I learnt from this video was how little Matt knows about tyres. Were those slicks even in their temperature window? "summer" tyres and slicks lose grip as temperature drops. Typically around 4⁰ C you'll begin to be better off with "winter" tyres..

I am in Oregon USA and we have the same type of weather and I run all seasons on my C6 Corvette. its so much better then slicks. they grip when it's cold don't have to wait for tire to heat up and they are great in the rain. I had some scary incidents when I had summer tires. especially when tires were cold.

Strad's Gallardo is a first gen spyder (2003-2008)... Matt's is the modernized LP560 (2008-2013). There are big differences body panel wise.
@@classictoexotic Underneath they may be not so different frame wise though, he could maybe talk to stradman about buying some of the the structural parts off of him that he doesn't need to repair his orange car. Thats if their timings line up, because I cant see strad getting to the point where he can take off every single part that yellow gallardo to get to the subframes that quite literally the whole front and rear end are attached to . And then take them off, ship them, etc. Considering how fast paced Matt is with his rebuilds. But it could make for an interesting crossover between two channels cant lie.
I so love seeing Matt and Freddy working together. Freddy is one of the most optimistic person I have seen when looking at a crumbled up cars. This is what keeps me coming back.

You’re not supposed to weld automotive frames. In Canada, mechanics and auto body specialists are not allowed to weld frames since heat can cause the material to change in composition, making it much more brittle.

That’s waaaaay over the top. I know. Because, I fabricated pre production prototype cars for, Land Rover/Range Rover, Rover, MG, Ford, jaguar, Rolls Royce/Bentley, Aston. Martin, Leyland DAF. I worked for Airflow Streamlines in the 1990’s. Prototype division. We built rally cars also.
really pleased, for you, to hear you state that the main mistake was in having semi-slicks on the car, and that you will NOT ever ever ever make that choice again, at least for a car residing in the UK.
Bro make sure you always get some quality Michelin or Continental tires. Tires and brakes, two of the most underrated parts on a car

@@charlie1832 Snow tires (not the ones with spikes, the normal ones) are the best for rain, they slash the rain to the sides like butter. I had them on my car because I used do a lot of skiing and found this out from pure experience.

Anything is repairable given time and money... Is it worth it? is another question entirely. My own experience of building and repairing stuff is that there is always more than appears first off, often a lot more! Doing well on this one, hats off to you all.

My favourite point is 12.10 where Matt try’s to compare his car with a child and Tony gives a barely perceptible shake of his head……basically he’s thinking, “what the heck you banging on about lad”…….as a dad of three kids I love the fact Tony will support his lad no matter what…..a true example of what it means to be a father and a man……Matt you have been lucky enough to have grown up with a real role model in your life, make sure you tell him how much you love and appreciate him every day 👍

So... I live in a desert, it doesn't rain much, but when it does, it floods. I only put slicks on a car when going directly onto a track. My everyday tires are Eagle F1's, which are all weather tires.
It's all good Mat, glad you are fixing the Gallardo. It was just circumstance, rain, cold tires, and slicks.. sure the car has power no doubt.. just glad you are ok and no one was injured. Cars you can repair, people not so much.

Keep the semi slicks on a sunny day only car, like a Lotus Exige or something. Cup 2s are even better.. Also. Aluminium welding is a royal pain in the backside. It makes titanium welding look easy. Can only really be welded TIG properly IMO, but you can get FCAW wire or electrodes (SMAW/ "stick") suitable to weld it. Always need gas with it, low CO2 as it's super easy to over penetrate on Aluminium (as anyone who's done test pieces in college can attest to, with giant damn burn holes through the work piece lol).
Doable, just very expensive and time consuming.

Love to see you and your dad and friends still so positive, could've gone a lot worse. I've had it in 2019 and was also really really really insanely lucky. A month after that I was laughing about it with my dad the same as you guys are doing now but sometimes we should remember we are blessed if it does not end like that!

I learned my lesson in Switzerland when my urus almost went of the side of a 600 foot cliffs edge in ice and snow wile I was driving Perelli Summer slicks… stupid ya, but now I have great off road tires with proper side siping for all wet and snow conditions. That really sucks mate, I can’t stress enough the importance of good tires. Especially on these horrible roads in the UK 🙄😜
