Ok - so right from the start, I'm wrong! I'm a former makeup artist, so this is funny! I don't usually use primer, as it's one layer too many for me, but Smashbox is a good one, but I do use a setting spray to set it all after application. That No.7 foundation is outstanding , and right up there with the higher end brands. The Dior foundation is definitely much warmer, and heavier coverage. The right side blusher appears to be a brighter color (and definitely now that you added the Halo!!).Might suggest a fluffier brush for the crease work -think you would find the application much easier. I don't think there's much point in spending a lot on mascara, the cheaper ones are often better. You're lucky Rob would notice the makeup - I wear a full face almost every day (as I love to), and my husband never notices and if asked would say I don't wear makeup (which could be a compliment, as it must look natural!!). Mum's comment on the yellow ! Did you use a toner, or a purple conditioner? They really do work - I use Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner for blondes and it really keeps the yellow away from my almost white hair. I think you're right - you can achieve similar results with budget products, but I think the secret is having your skin in good condition first.

The top end makeup has slightly more coverage but other than that there isn't alot of difference really I think just mixing products to your satisfaction it's the thing to do ...both sides are lovely...I use Wella shineffinity you mix it with a activator it's a semi permanent colour it fades out after 24 washes it gives my hair a lovely shine I hated my grey/white hair ❤

Loved this video! You taught me something so cool! I'm not very good with eye shadow, but always put the light color on 1st then the darker outer corner, but your way of doing it is so much better because by putting the lighter color on 2nd, you blend out the darker color and the edges! Loved the makeup video! Great fun. I used to wear primer. It does make everything go on more smoothly. Can't really see the difference with the brands, but maybe with the Dior foundation it looked like you had more coverage. I preferred the look of the premium blusher, but honestly it's how you prepare the skin and how you apply the products. I'm going to look for mascara primer, I liked the finish on your lashes. I’ve always wondered why M&S make-up never features in any trials or reports. It’s a mystery - maybe they don’t offer promotional samples to the various reviews/magazines. It would be lovely if you could do a feature on their make up sometime. The quality is so good! Thanks and love your channel xx

This was fun ! I love how the boots foundation looks on you, seemed to lift and illuminate your skin in comparison with the Dior foundation. Will be giving that a try. I swear by Primark eyeshadow palettes. Tried them for a laugh but they are fabulous, worn at my son’s wedding last year the colour withstood a day of happy tears, photo posing and partying 🎉. Well worth a try! Xx

Oh Helen, you do make me laugh. Its amazing how equal the two sides are! Like me, when I'm not tanned, I need a cooler shade of foundation and I reserve the golden ones for summer. Job well done!

Yes I think right side slightly better, but almost the same. I always use Boots No. 7 stay perfect foundation, it doesn't clog my pours, I tried lots of the very expensive ranges and they just don't last or feel right on my skin. Hi Helen. I think they are equal I don’t think it matters with foundation, I use Lanera foundation it makes a difference with the moisturiser and night creams I always use Elemis products I know they are expensive but it makes your face look better. Loved the vlog I love playing with makeup as well.❤️❤️

You look amazing ,the make up on both sides are so natural looking not to heavy. However i do like the budget side better.Such a pretty look .When i do wear make up ,i tend to use simular colours to this.Your hair looks good ,as i found my self gazing at your hair as if something was different ,then you mentioned the toner.Well done Mum,what a good Mum she is. xx🤗

They are equal in my view but the more expensive eye shadow is slightly darker than the elf shadow. I actually preferred the e.l.f side whenyou were first doing it. It was great fun and interesting to see how you got on. You looked good anyhow and that is all that matters.xx

Your makeup up on both size looks lovely. I particularly like your lip colour. My lips seem to be disappearing, along with my eyebrows! 😂 I wear little make up so couldn’t justify spending loads especially when you can’t tell which is which with yours, so thanks for the demo Helen 😍 xxx

I have a pot of foundation thst I have mixed with foundation cream & moisturiser cream. Add more , or less of each to give your best quick cover. Mix really well. This is good for everyday wear as its like a tinted moisturiser but your own favourute colouring. Its not so heavy so easy to slap on quickly for a light covering.

I really enjoyed the video. I used to use premium brands for skin care and make up but now I use lower priced brands and find my skin and makeup is just as good and now I get compliments too. You have lovely skin and I love how you do your makeup and thought there was no difference but rather liked the glow you had on the value side. I was not surprised at how little difference there was at using lower priced cosmetics. Love your hair colour too. I look forward to your videos because its like having a good chat and a giggle with a lovely friend. Very special, thank you. ❤

Haven't watched it yet - but from the thumbnail, your right side looks better to me (the eye is bigger, less hooded), lips look a little fuller, and the cheek is more lifted. Now to watch it and see if I'm nuts!!

I would highly recommend elf mascara, probably the best I have used on my lashes, no clogging at all. I only really use high end when I receive make up as a present but rarely see that much difference. Am fond of clarins for primers and skin care though. Interesting video as usual, very enjoyable.

No difference, I guess if out somewhere posh always nicer to produce the YSL palette and not ELF haha. Goes to show there are so many dupes all producing the same. Well done, take care xx

Very little difference other than the YSL shadow looks more pigmented, really nice look. I bought a MUA 5 pan eyeshadow palette from Superdrug a few weeks ago for about £4.00 very similar to your ELF palette and it's really, really good quality for the price. They do about 4 or 5 colour options and they're all very wearable. Really like that KIKO mascara too.

I’ve just started using the Elf foundation, super coverage, little goes a long way, colour match good, long lasting plus two of their cream blushers - one in a stick and one in a tube, again super colours plus can be used as a lip colour. Good pricing. Had to laugh when you said economy/premium as I thought the middle would be business 😂. Actually liked the economy.

I think the less expensive side looks a bit more natural in the coloring but really no noticeable difference to me..I have the exact same Elf eye shadow palette, use it almost everyday and have gone through a few of them. But when I go out to dinner or an event i bring out the Chanel eye shadow which costs a lot more and looks pretty much the same, so when I go out thinking my eyes look extra good well, I know its all in my head! I have used the whole price range of mascara and honently think some of the less expensive ones are the best. Your makeup looks great and I really enjoy seeing what you use and hearing your opinion of different prioducts.

Enjoyed the makeup video. It’s nice to see your technique. I’m not much good at putting it on but I have a go. Usually tinted moisturiser. Some eye brow colour and some lippy. You have lovely eyebrows and didn’t need to do them do you. My eyebrows need a little attention. 👍👍

Great vlog, like to watch your makeup tutorials….you make it look so easy. I’m afraid I don’t wear a lot of make at home or when I go out. I moisturise when I remember with baby lotion. A bit of blusher, eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick. Never wear it at home. My hubby doesn’t like a lot of makeup anyway at least not on me. My granddad used to say pretty doesn’t need it and ugly is a waste of time!! My dad always said less is more !! Each to his own….you always look lovely May I add.

Hi Helen. I liked the idea behind this video which perhaps goes to prove that the cost of ‘prestige’ products is more to do with the fancy packaging, brand name and type of advertising campaigns. Personally, I buy cruelty free products because it’s very important to me that what I buy has not been tested on animals. I think we probably all find our favourites after a bit of trial and effort and tend to stick to them ( unless they’re discontinued- most annoying !! ) ❤️🥰

Hello Helen, I don't think there is much different, only that the premium has a nice glow and a thicker coverage! Just goes to show one doesn't need to spend a fortune to look good! I use the purple shampoo to tone down the yellow, it's very good I find! Thanks Helen 😊💕💕

Really enjoyed video. Dior foundation looks better to me and I personally adore Daniel Sandler liquid blush.
Orgasm is Nars, but the one you used is quite similar.
Just a tip to let your moisturiser sink in for 15 minutes before you do your make up...Last procedure in the morning after cleansing?
Also you need spf even in the winter.

I honestly can’t tell if there’s a difference but you look great anyway. I really think having good skin care helps the foundation look good. I also started using the Sephora brand of primer and it’s reasonably priced

Although both sides look great, the high end foundation has more coverage, looks softer & more natural- too bad for me, as I won’t be buying high end! Love the Yves St. Laurent pallet on your eyes too! By the way- I LOVE this kind of video!
