I loved his laugh when the lift finally started going up. It made me smile. My 18 year old is in a wheelchair and lfit problems happen several times a year. It seems to be a frequent thing.
I'll give you kudos for having a turn in the driveway for the bus. Some homes don't have this accessibility and the school bus has to sit in the middle of the road for 10 minutes while they load and unload. It usually causes a long traffic jam of frustrated commuters.
When I drove for the school I only drove the regular buses, it wasn't until I started driving for greyhound where I needed to use the wheel chair lift. On our coaches, they stow underneath inside the luggage compartment and we have a manual pump action in case the electronic failed. I had a passenger midway up on the lift when one of the railing senors disconnected so I had to manually release the hydraulic pressure to let him down and reset it!
also the real slow climbs going up if it snowed and its bitter cold wishing school cancelled kinda day... had that a couple happen a couple times when i was in a wheelchair recovering from a knee injury during the winter...
that same thing happend this morning at my school were unloading the wheelchair but the lift would go down (he was on the lift already ready to get off)
The beeping and warning red light was because the person in the lift doorway above was standing on the plate across ... you can't stand there while operating the lift.
I also have a school bus with the same lift, I have also retrofitted the lift with a hand pump so that I can move the lift by hand if the hydraulics fail. I converted the bus into a mobile home, and these school buses are also perfect for that.
Oh, gosh! When I was a kid I rode the special needs bus. I remember on one bus the lift would not unfold at all. My mom had to carry me of the bus. Let me tell you, it was not fun!
YEARS Ago, I was the aide for a Cerebral Palsy man traveling to a Best Buy, something like that, for a new computer On a REGULAR Public Transport bus. On the way home, Lift wouldn't go down. Bunch of guys, wanting to get home, lifted his Power chair, HEAVY and him to the sidewalk. Fortress Scientific W-Chairs were like Tanks, in that day and age..Thanked them over and over.
Thank you for making videos videos like is beings back so memories I did ride a special Needs School Bus with a wheelchair lift but my School is a Blue Bird
