And that was the original sound with the original pipes and silencers. It was tempting not to put after-market chambers on them, just because of the sound. But I did, cause the Jollymoto ones gave lots more top-end power! : )
THe original pipes sounded good, but if you put on Jollymoto or any other brand real chambers, you had a MUCH faster bike instantly. And then swap ignition, carbs, lighten it and you have a super bike. And stroke/bore to 500 too, then it's a racer! I loved mine , but before I tuned it, my RG 500 literally parked it! After tuning HOnda was fastest, of course.

Mine ate pistons, chain and sprockets constantly, got pissed off with it. Plus I got pissed off being obliterated by the new rgv 250. It sat is unloved for the next 16 yrs then I sold it. I don't regret selling for one second. I had nothing but bad luck with that thing. I ride a slabby 750 now, far more enjoyable 'to me'. My 350lc was better than my ns, it was bored to 375cc to so it was only a few cc down a far more reliable too.

NS特有のゲロゲロカンカンという排気音懐かしいですね。
ΓといいKRといい当時の2ストは排気音を聞くだけでだけ車種が判別したものです。
ホンダの2ストはMBを筆頭にMVXもNSも盛大な排気煙を吐いてナンバープレートやタイヤ・ホイールもオイルにまみれていたものですが、NSRになって大幅に改善(笑)されたは残念です。
音量が問題で、サイレンサーがリコールになってたのですが

i have the #JH2NC190XGM000152 in 1989 :) NSR400 1986 canadian version with 369km (excuse my english ;))
