It cracks me up when people say they can’t afford to get married. If you really want to be married, put on a nice dress, a nice suit, buy some flowers and rings and down to the Register you go.
She chose to have NINE bridesmaids. The budget doesn't magically get more money when there's more people.
That is SO WEIRD. In the USA, the maids pay for, make, or have their gowns made for them. We always bought all of the fabrics and patterns for the maids and flower girls and our family made them, and our Moms gowns as well. Really I believe that each family can do whatever works for them, who made the rules anyway?
He’s the first groom I’ve seen to splurge on the wedding dress. And considering that the dress seems to be a major factor for the brides, he did well with that. He does have some growing up to do as far as priorities go. I love surfing as well, but I make sure my priorities are taken care of first. I wish them all the best.

Mitch is almost a tie with the selfish Las Vegas guy. WHY is Laura marrying him?! He puts surfing way above her. She should have found a man that is mature, loves her and earns a living that can support them both.

Why is everyone complaining about chipping in a few dollars. The mother isn't paying for anything, but when asked to buy her daughters shoes, she's upset? The bridesmaid's complain, the groom's man free ride. I notice this is frequent in the UK, with these weddings on this site. Everyone wants everything for free and don't want to pay anything.
its just a tv show, not a reflection on uk weddings as a whole. its staged to encourage drama for entertainment value. and if i were a loved one of someone winning a paid for wedding, i would also hope that the groom would make everything in budget. the bridesmaids easily agreed to pay half the difference for the dresses too.
@@dineo8341 That is the ONLY TIME I have EVER seen maids do that on this series. They wanted fancier formal gowns that would also work for the pregnant maids and it worked for them and their gowns were perfect for the wedding gown. Which by the way was the MOST EXPENSIVE gown I have EVER seen ANY groom ever pay for on one of these shows whatever country it was in.
It is unrealistic to me that TWO venues, and all of the parties, "dos" fancy transportation and on and on are expected out of this budget.
Paying for ALL of the alcohol is weird as well. People should pay for their own if they are going to drink and be stupid. Noone should have to pay for that, and they would be be a part of the liability of any accident that happened . as well.

Just once it would be nice to see this series work with 2 people who actually care about each other in their choices for the wedding. A responsible rather than a reprehensible groom & a bride who doesn't make everything OK for the groom when he has basically destroyed her dreams & put his own glorious self reflection ahead of anything or anyone else. This guy is an addict. It may not be alcohol or drugs, but the behaviour is the same. His surfing will always be put ahead of anything--financial stability, responsibilities of any kind, his wife's needs or desires. I predict they will follow their parents' leads & divorce unless his wife becomes addicted to enabling him & being a victim.
You should a watch the Mr. Darcy/Pride and Prejudge themed episode if you haven’t seen it yet. It’s my all time favorite.

No they don't! I live in the U.S and paid for my 2 bridesmaids dresses. I would feel awful to ask them the favor of standing with me then making them pay for something as another favor to me. Just not what I did

I can’t speak for those in the UK, but here in the States, every wedding I have been a bridesmaid in, I have had to pay for the dress.
@@sngray11 Same! I feel like paying for your own dress, shoes, etc. is perfectly standard in the US, especially if the bride's family isn't wealthy. The bride often covers the accessories (like a matching necklace), sometimes travel/hotel for long distance bridesmaids, and sometimes a spa trip or hair/make-up/nails, but again, I would never expect someone to do that for me. If you're asked to be a bridesmaid, be prepared for it to cost you A LOT because you're still expected to organize and pay for the bachelorette and attend all the showers, rehearsals, etc. I spent SO much on a dear friend's wedding (probably upwards of $1,000), and I wasn't even the maid of honor. The only thing that brides have ever bought for me were the flowers and the jewelry.

I don't understand this big thing about the couple buying the bridesmaids' dresses. Every wedding I've been in, the bridesmaids have bought their dresses & shoes in the style & color the bride wants. Is it different in the UK?
I've never heard of bridesmaids paying for anything. They don't here in the USA.
@@mrsta1267 I"m in the USA, too. And every bridesmaid I know, including ones I was in, the bridesmaid bought the dress. I've never heard of the bride paying. She pays for the gift she gets all the bridesmaids, but not the dress, which the women keep.

They are not the bride and where I come from, we pay for our own dresses and the hen party. The bride is the only one getting the free ride and so she should!!! this show likely doesn’t reflect the whole uk culture. to me the bridesmaids were being advocates for the bride and each other, just making sure the dress was suitable for a wedding and comfortable for the pregnant ladies. i think they come off as intense on this show because the grooms are so lax and selfish, so the bridesmaids are the only voice in favor of what the bride wants we typically hear loudly because they have the chance to try and convince the groom to make at least that part of the wedding as the bride would like it. (typically, just acceptable.). they easily agreed to pay half of the difference with the groom. i think if my friend was getting married for free on a tv show that i would also expect the dresses to be within budget. if no one else is paying for anything, why should only the bridesmaids. weddings where many folks chip in if the couple can’t afford everything, i understand it. but this is s staged show where the drama is played up so they probably act more intense.
@@mrsta1267Really?!? I'm from California, and I paid for everything for the weddings I was in, including the bride's shower and bachelorette! I even did my own hair, nails, and make up, while my own mom did the bride's (she wasn't even my relative), and I arranged for my own transportation too.

For the most part I was disappointed with seeing the bride in black face but overall I guess it comes down to that the groom was silly the mother-in-law was hilarious and the Bridewell good luck to her in life with this guy! 💍❤️💍
He’s unbelievable. Only thinking about how he wants it. Not how the bride does, plus- can’t even put off the surf for something so important to the person he’s supposed to love and cherish
I think he did great. He picked a gorgeous dress, handmade invitations, kept himself healthy and balanced by exercising and releasing stress by surfing.
It's a good thing the bride doesn't know (or so it appears) what's going on behind the scenes. Stress - although groom doesn't seem too worried. That's what exercise and a good surf can do for you, I guess! I hope he truly lives up to Laura's dream and what she deserves in a husband.

When the dad walked her down the aisle and it was 5 steps from the entry to the groom on an open wooden floor area, those 5 unplanned steps couldn't have been more pronounced. Not saying the traditional aisle was necessary but damn, such a casual disregard to the bride's father/daughter moment, and right after her disappointment about her lack of hair accessories, her forgotten shoes, her grouped up transport, her forgotten bridal photos. The lack of her being relevant to the wedding is a bit scary. Sure he splurged on her dress, but he did that and was done thinking about her. And he kept asking the woman around for money, how many times did he think it was appropriate for her mom to pay for his poor planning on a day that he knew was going to be all about him? Uncaring.

So many of these brides expect the budget to go all towards their needs and forget about the venue, entertainment… cost. This is the couples day not just the bride. Weddings are expensive, be happy you have found the love of your life!

You would think they have talked about the wedding when they got engaged - the type of dress, type of venue, etc. But this show is probably scripted to make it worse than it is lol.

I really do believe that the producers of this show tell the groom to be to have at it. Take the money and make the day your fantasy. Spend far more on yourself and mates. I would not be a silent bride.
either that or they only cast men who are self centered and not responsible or good at planning. it seems even all the women are organized, have high and traditionally standards for weddings, and take on most responsibility in the relationship.
It's reality TV. Of course the producers want drama, so they help create drama! This wouldn't be quite as entertaining if all the grooms were amazing at being caring and constantly thinking of their bride. Or, the brides were thinking of their men and what a challenge their task must be. This are heavily edited. The voice over definitely makes the drama sound intensely higher than it probably is. That all said, I like watching these episodes and really rooting for these men to figure it out at the end.

I LOVE this show but I really hate that they let the brides show off their favorite wedding gowns and venues and even wear some of the gowns. I mean what's the point of getting your hopes up if it's not gonna happen?
The mom is really pissing me off with all the "bloke jokes". Yeah he's a man, yeah the majority of them don't really care for weddings but they (the parents and in-laws should give the men a lot of credit. I mean they are trying to make your daughter happy!
