Justin I would like to suggest a maintenance Day on the first of every month for equipment and vehicles. I think it would save you a lot of money and teach those young men how to preserve the life of farm equipment.

This comment along with checking basics before and after use. Just like a car, just like any DOT vehicle. Always a pre trip and post trip along with weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual. It’s good to have a list.
It’s like changing furnace filters, smoke/carbon monoxide batteries etc.
Folks cost themselves a lot more money when they just disregard the “routine” maintenance or just looking at what they have going on.

I think it would be good to implement a machine checklist that is done EVERY DAY when using equipment. Like check all fluids, lights and horns before firing it up! No matter uf yiu che ked it the day before. Check it again! That's what we did in the airforce. That equipment is expensive. I think it would be good practice.

I'd be concerned keeping your wood chips close to the house as we get fire every year in our area with spontaneous combustion. There was a farm last year that their fire burned for months. That fire backed up to several homes. It was a concern it would spread to the homes. The Fire Dept worked very hard to keep that fire in place. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. A new horse how fun is that going to be.

Justin, imo, don't put wood chips under your house, why, you know the answer but for other folks who might not know, they generate heat and can/might catch on fire...period... it happens over at the local sawmill every year and the fire departments have to come and put them out and it can get hairy! Store them outside in a semi shallow pile and cover them.Imo.

Seems to me "losing stuff" is an on going problem. Time to spent 21-days forming new habit of consistently putting everything in its place... Shoes, tools, parts, wood, toys, etc. Notify white board for replacement items... Hydraulic oil, broken parts, fuses, etc.
So, the next person who goes to town picks up needed items. Imagine going to get a tool and it's there. Maybe, children can find shoes? Oh, happy days. . .

Thats not Justins personality. He talks and thinks in ten directions at once. Im not being smart but I really think he has ADHD. Being organized and doing one thing at a time will never happen.

I got a freeze dryer just before the holidays and was told one round of bread is good. but I wasn't told it was to detoxify the machine? It was to make sure the machine was doing every step. anyone want to fill me in?... GO.... LOL

Wood chips can combust, so piling them next to your new house may not be a good idea.

Your boys are so helpful, but Jonah as the oldest should be more respectful when he is speaking to his Pa. An unGodly child who lacks respect for his Father is a bad example for his younger brothers and sister. May God speak wisdom into his younger heart.
