  • The 14th century was a time of great prosperity in Leicestershire, and that is reflected in the churches built during that time. The church of St. Peter, Wymondham (not to be confused with Wymondham in Norfolk, which is pronounced differently) is a splendid example of that period. It's also a good example of the use of ironstone in building. The effigy of a knight lies in one transept, and many surfaces are adorned with rich carving.
