Thank you for this video. New subscriber 😊. I found you through Loc Maiden referencing a couple of your PML Mothership depotting videos. I have a few I'm thinking of changing 😬

I don't own a PML palette, don't know if I ever will, but this video is so fascinating. Very glad Hannah recommended your channel!

Hi Cait, you are not really missing out. PML is overhyped.

Hey, this is super late, BUT the reason Pat’s special shades are in the format they are is because they are baked! They also can be used wet with a mixing medium, like Inglot’s duraline, which would create a similar effect to how Pale Gold 002 swatched after you repressed it 😊

Yes, I've definitely worked with some more baked formulas after this and found the silicone thing a bunch after that. Thanks for your comment!

    I love square pans

So wish I could do this with my mothership v palette! I have never re-pressed a shadow though, and don’t think I have the patience for it. Great video!

Thank you! I definitely think it takes patience, but it's worth it. The gold actually does work a little better after it's been repanned. If you ever do give it a try, let me know! I'd love to hear how it comes out. ^_^

Finally someone having a strong opinion about PMG else than "this is just freaking amazing, best formula ever", for some reasons it is super refreshing. I have a question though, why 26mm, like specifically? Why not 24mm, 22mm which also are pretty common ^^
But seriously I just discovered your channel and Instagram yesterday and it has been a huge revelation!!! Still pondering if I want to go on this journey because I'm attached to certain packaging but some others (like JS) are suuuuuper bulky and non-practical and I would love to repan those. I'm so impressed to see how you seem to don't give a damn about the packaging, was it always like this for you, or you had to go through the phase of letting it go first?

I'm doing a series of posts at the beginning of the year about repanning, and I'm gonna include your questions in that, cause they're good ones! I think I ended up with 26mm though cause it matched pans I had depotted from other palettes. And also cause that's what I could find on Amazon. Haha

@@FacesByGina I am happy if you find my questions pertinent ^^ And if I can make a suggestion, when you press the eyeshadow that would be nice if you do it on a scale, just once, to give an idea of how much force you put into it ^^ and how much grams on average these 26mm pans can contain of eyeshadow? like for a matte for example :3

@@CharlotteV3D oh that's interesting. How much you can get into the pan depends a lot on the density of the product. Generally, however, it's between 1.5 and 2.5 g, depending on the shadow

Thank you so much for this. I wanna look into depotting mine, and I'm so glad to realise I can repan them as well! I plan to put some adhesive magnet pieces in the empty slots after removing the eyeshadow pans, and then I can pop any 26mm pan with enough iron content to stick I want in that fancy packaging. My problem would be the mirror, because that thing is thick & huge, but utterly useless: the area that actually reflects my face is too small, and the whole palette is sooooo heavy to hold up to use. Also it definitely touches the top of the baked shadows, even after I clean it and close the palette, when I open it up, I'd always get the 4 round impressions that correspond to the positions of those 4. Yikes. I really wanna remove the useless mirror to make space for the slightly raised heights of the pans on top of the magnetic pieces. I wish there was a professional with all tools on deck on UA-cam that do teardown of makeup products to see how they're constructed and if they're really worth that price tag; like people do teardown of electronics like phones or laptops. It'd be so educational & fun!
I stumbled across your channel over a year ago through your video on how to depot Juvia's palettes and I'm so glad you still have the same passion for bending these products to your will. I don't get the worshipping of material objects and treating them like they're inviolateable things bestowed onto us by some corporations. I have respect for Pat McGrath as a person, but this company isn't her, and this palette isn't her.
My pet theory with the reason why some products are baked and not pressed on to a regular pan, especially eyeshadows, is that they hope to control how much of the product we pick up with our finger/brush/applicator each time. I think since they're baked, they'd be kinda hollow-ish (after the water had evaporated during the baking process), so we'd pick up less product. It comes in handy for shadows like the PML ones, because (I think) they're a lot less impressive when I try to pack them on to build up an even, solid patch of colour, especially on small areas like eyelids, unless when you're doing a huge impractical editorial look that goes up to your brows (whick Pat McGrath does a lot). For the average person that don't go for looks like that, those shadows look much better spread out over the eyelids like scattered flecks of glitter (they ARE actual glitter any way). They also look much better in the pan when presented that way. That's my wild guess, and that's why I wish we have that makeup teardown thing on UA-cam! I just wanna know what I'm buying and usingin my daily life better. These cosmetics companies have tighter NDAs and exclusive manufacturers/suppliers than Apple urgh

Did you ever find out about repanning the jd glow shadows? Does it work?

It does! I did a few IG posts about it and I'm hoping to have a video up here soon. 😊
