@@duncanmcgroyne9317 You're a superfan. Honestly, I just go with the original recording, when I watch a live act, I really just listen without having the ear for the differences. The Fly sends me on a hypnotic trip---but it is the one from the original album I must admit.

it is good, but the 2001 Boston version is better, and it is the only one I would take over the original zoo tv version. One reason I love U2 is they are continually trying to move forward. i havent cared for anything since atyclb but I admire them for pushing forward. It is this trait that gives us the many re workings of their live versions of songs. They can't even refrain from trying to improve songs they have already released.
@@duducar3016 agreed, I read somewhere once that the reason they didnt keep the elevation tour version of the fly was because Bowie didnt think it was fine tuned enough and preferred this format
Have always wondered whether Bono’s guitar is even connected in this song and others. He knows enough to be dangerous on the guitar but not much more than that.
I just love how u2 songs just literally grab you by the throat and demand your attention...songs that say you're going to listen to me and you're going to love it....

Great Job... love to whole copy together...This was the show # 5 for me on the tour!!! We were right in front of Edge...GREAT JOB ON VIDEO AND SOUND!!!!!!
D. MC - you originally said this was such an exciting time to be a U2 fan. This was filmed in 2011. Just letting you know. ‘The Fly’ came out in 1991 of course.
Michael Griffiths - Sorry, although I think you understand what I meant. This song, and the energy around it...it was a great time for U2 fans. Yes, U2 can still make some magic but sadly it is almost exclusively with old songs. It's just not the same, from HTDAAB onward. It happens to all of the best popular artists. U2 were great, but they just don't have it anymore.
D. MC - what do you think of ‘Kite’ from All That You Can’t Leave Behind? And how about the live orchestra version of ‘Every Breaking Wave’ from the European Music Awards three years ago? I actually think Pop was the first time U2 showed signs of losing that magic you speak of. Passengers and Zooropa had it in spades.
The most underrated part of this great track is Mullen's drums. The entire song (even the Album)....just pure joy.
But he isn’t playing the original beat.

Underrated by…whom, exactly? Can you name one single, solitary U2 fan who doesn’t dig Larry-? C’mon.
Bono just gives a reminder of why he was the coolest rockstar on the planet from 1987-2012

Amazing. ...love the blending of their voices........ 💙
Those guitar solo to The Edge makes me high!!!

How many awesome versions of The Fly are there? Seems endless.
yep , and every different version is just another intoxicating gift , The Fly & Zooropa are unworldly, futuristic tracks that always will be
Edge stunning as always !!
This live version rocked!!💙
The last leg of this tour was incredible. Saw them at Giants stadium a few days before this show and the energy was insane !
I don't have any words to describe it!!! its amazing!!!
+Liz Val I think it's pretty cool
those are 2 words.
“Kraut rock circa 1991”... love it!
I'm running out of change... Those were the days.
U2, NOTE to selves !!! For SOE, WE need more EDGE !!!!!!

I don’t think The Edge has ever missed a note. And if he has, has covered it up well. I’ve been watching for thirty years.
Albany 2001. He fucked up the Kite solo.

Larry is actually looking at Edge and smiling because he is so on fire.
The fly knocked Bryan Adams off number 1 after 16 weeks in 1991😆😆😁🎤😄

did paul rose win his lawsuit
thankyou2532 Hahahaha, no, he definitely did not win his lawsuit.
paul rose's song did sound very simular to u2s the fly,i think u2s big bucks and fame unfairly won that suit .love didnt fall on that judgement

Boston 2001 is in my opinion one of Rock’s top 10 best performances, period!

one of my personal favorites
Nice black Tele
When they used to make good music...

I Prefer The Vertigo Tour Brazil 2006 Version. For Me, The Best Version Of The Fly Song Live.
That is a great version. Different guitar tone for sure. He used the line6 variax guitar then. This vid back to a 73 Strat.
Does Bono play guitar???? Sure, like playback, backing guitar track... he is way to dumb, but he is lucky Edge is one of his best friends
this version sucks
My best U2’s song ever!!!!

Songs like the fly, Exit, God part 2,Hold me thrill me kiss me kill me it’s like they grab you and scream in your face and say LETS ROCK
Its great to see Bono playing the guitar with the edge, Adam and Larry. .... they leave you in AWE 🎉💜🙏
The audio quality on this is amazing. Among the best audience recordings I've ever heard.

LOL at Bono trying to play guitar, it’s probably not even plugged in. Edge on the other hand....you weapon.👌
Of course it's plugged in - you can hear Bono's guitar first at the start of the song.
EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG !
he would come to Edge's side when I would wave him over!
👌✌👊🤟❤
