I know this is an old comment but i figured i would answer anyways. Its fishing myth or belief where you pay the "fish gods" (or however you want to word that) for a bite on that rod.
Albemarle still builds similar boats to this, many of them are outboard powered now though. The jackshafts/outdrives don’t hold up too well always being in the saltwater

Those are 4lh yanmars 4 cyl not 6 good to see u know ur boat
Awesome boats, but know your engines. they are 4 cylinder 3.4l engines. some of the best yanmar engines made!

Sorry mate, yep that was a fug up.
Engines are the 4lha-STP 240hp Yanmars. 3.45 litres and 4 cyls, not the 6cyl 4.2 litre 6LPA-STP2 315hp engines.
