I've got a 2023 F 150 w/5.0L V8 on order. I would like to install the tune from Livernois specifically to kill the cylinder deactivation. I am concerned about voiding a brand-new warranty on this engine.
From what I’ve seen livernois tunes are great. That is a worry about voiding a warranty but also you can revert it back and maybe get away with it if something does happen. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Leak on the rear, driver side valve cover. Yeah, that sucked. Sold it, bought a Rivian, no valve cover gasket leaks. Before you hate, it's 19 degrees here today and my range is just fking fine.

I got to play the devils advocate. I just got a 2022 XL High package regular cab 4x4 in antimatter blue. I got the vinyl seats (hate cloth). I freaking love this thing. I got an IHC 3/5 lowering kit, MBRP side exit cat back exhaust, on 20” Welds Ventura 6’s. I purposely got this configuration to Whipple charge it and beat Hellcats. I came from a fully loaded Ram truck and the interior is a little downgrade, but i didnt buy this thing for the bells and whistles. Im surprised at how much i actually love this thing being my first Ford truck and its a base model
I have a 2022 F150 with the 5.0 with a MBRP 3'' exhaust and didnt really notice the cylinder deactivation till the exhaust was installed. I HATE IT !!! so much so that Im switching back to the factory exhaust.
I just bought a Ford F150 XLT 4X4 sport package like 2 months ago but since I got the truck I feel a small vibration in the cabin when it’s on -park-. When I turn the truck on on idle it vibrates. Once on drive it goes away. Or when I’m waiting on a red light. Nothing. Smooth. But once I park. And idle. It start vibration. 😢very disappointed on these 2022 brand new truck.
Hate to be a party pooper here but I have a 2021 XLT with the 5.0 and FX4 package and absolutely love it. I have no complaints what so ever. The only gripe I had was that my truck didn’t come with the interior work surface… I recently broke down and had the dealership order all the parts for me and I installed it myself ($1,100) robbery. So I use my truck predominately as a daily commuter with some occasional towing and off-roading. I just crossed 10k miles and I’m averaging 18.1 mpg for the life of the truck. Not bad considering how bad the Washington DC area traffic is. I don’t drive like a granny unless my kids are in the car. I honestly don’t even notice the cylinder deactivation in this truck…with that being said I didn’t have the pleasure of owning a 5.0 in the previous gen so don’t know what that was like. I had upgraded last year from a 2018 2.7 which I couldn’t stand the turbo spooling sounds and lack of power. Cole I think you got a great truck and it looks fantastic. I have the agate black with the sport appearance package. I like the content you are putting out keep up the good work!

I have a 22 XLT 5.0 and I’m getting 17 mpg with about 1,700 miles on the clock. I was getting 18 mpg with my 15 so I’m a little disappointed because the 10 speed is supposed to improve mileage but is still getting better so who knows where it will end up. I really don’t mind the cylinder deactivation other than the concerns I have about it reducing longevity but I’m sure someone will come out with a dongle to disable it. The one thing I don’t like is the electronic parking brake - I just can’t get used to it. On top of that it’s now being recalled for it. What was wrong with what worked just fine for decades?
My biggest complaint about my f150 is the wide mud tires I put on… I run over the smallest puddle of water and boom! My entire truck looks like I went off-roading in mammoth… and the black color is already hard to maintain clean lol
With a little over 1000 miles, I’m getting just over 16 mpg. I have the FX4 because for me it is actually smoother on pavement than the regular 4x4 that I drove.
Mine was super smooth and didn’t get a little stiffer until I ran it on some washboards while off roading. Maybe like a break in period? Let me know if yours get stiffer or stays the same. I’m curious. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I hate how they got rid of the temperature displays from the knobs. I’m still awaiting my 2022 and they keep force deleting features. I’m on the edge of canceling my order
Cylinder deactivation sucks. If you hate it now, don’t put an aftermarket exhaust on until after you get your Whipple installed. An aftermarket exhaust will exploit the cylinder deactivation broken exhaust note, and you’ll hate it even more.
You already know the gripes I have with my F150. HVAC controls(manual vent control and single HVAC button , even wimpier then yours fake 20" FX4 all-terrain tires. All things that were "non-chip" related that were removed from our 22's versus the 21's, etc. Look forward to your next video. Peace ✌️
The Stock ride height is set for when you want to tow when you hock up your trailer the trailer is supposed to level out the truck because of the weight of the trailer so that's why the front end squats down if I remember Correctly.
Hey Cole, love your stuff, keep up the great work my guy. Quick comment though, you mentioned that you cannot/could not get the black appearance package until very recently and only on trims lower than lariat (correct me if I misunderstood you), but that simply isnt true. BAP were available since Oct 2021 for the 2022 model years on XLT, Lariat, and even Platinum. I JUST checked the ford website though, and the option to build a truck with BAP is gone! Hopefully they offer it for 2023. I feel very fortunate I ordered one when I did, love the look of the tremor grille, the dual rear exhaust, and blacked out headlights. Keep up the great content man.
Yeah so I actually followed up with my local dealer on this one. And there are baps on any 21s. And there were only baps on the first half of 22 orders. Which is basically what you said. The reason I put no higher than a lariat is because that is the “plan” for second half 23 orders. Sorry if the why I talk about it is confusing. I feel like ford has really dropped the ball on appearance packages in general for this model year. And have subsequently made blackout package is extremely rare. Let me know what you think. I just picked up my powerboost a couple weeks ago. Opted to not bother with the fx4 or any upgrades really. Just a simple xl with the 7.2kw genny in the back. I figure I can level with some bilsteins front and back, put some black 17’s on 33” offroad tires, throw some led lights all around, put a new front and rear bumper on, drop a k&n in, tint windows and throw a bed liner on for well under what the upgraded trims run in these trucks. I just want to go hunting and drive fast on the pavement. The electronics are cool and all, but I came from an 04 Titan. Sweet truck that was straight piped and louder than a mfer, with every engine mod you could think of, but barely had a working stereo. I don’t even use my backup cam on the new truck 🤣. Love your vids man!
I respect the hell out of that and have always played with the idea of a base truck with 4x4 and the just super moding it. Powerboost is seriously such an awesome powertrain. I have a good german shorthair that runs the desert/mountain for chukar/quail, and is a great duck dog out in the coastal areas. I live out in Oregon so I get a long hunting season. I’m excited to take my 4 year old out for her first hunt this year!
Just did a round trip I’m my 2021 powerboost from auburn, Wa to modest ca averaged 21.7 on eco mode. I didn’t get the 24 mpg advertised but considering I went through the mountains I thought it did really well filled up three times

It’s already sold. It was a KG custom from a ken Grody Ford. I wouldn’t recommend them those. That truck was selling for way more than it ever should have. You can get the grille for like $250 and most xlts are in the 50k range. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Cylinder deactivation is to appease the government. Otherwise Ford wouldn’t do it because they don’t want to pay for extra engineering. The exhaust well you will never satisfy everyone so the quieter side is the safe way to go for about 80 percent of V-8 buyers, easily modifiable. FX4 I do agree with you on that. It’s a waaay over priced option for what you get. Super Duty’s is like a $400ish upgrade. Adaptive learning is the word your looking for the trans. It learns within a couple of hundred miles, not thousands. Skip shifts in normal mode is exactly what its supposed to do. For the most part 10 speeds is really too many gears for a vehicle. The computer (imperfect), in normal mode selects the gear needed for the moment of the driving conditions. Obviously is programmed for better fuel mileage which is just fine for most people who will never modify their vehicle. And the rake is so if you’re using you pickup for work, the bed squinting won’t give you the high nose effect. Anyway thanks for sharing your opinion, I like hearing what everyone has to say about the trucks we enjoy owning.

Almost everything I see says 5k and it completely goes away. Not saying your wrong, I’m sure it’s meant to go away sooner than it does. Skips are Notorious for the 10 speed. I have a 22 powerboost and I love the gas mileage. The hybrid is taking a little bit to get used to but I have a 6 inch lift on 37s and average 16.4 mpg. I only bought the powerboost because I knew I was lifting it so wanted beat gas mileage I could get.
Your lucky Cole you got your trucks when you did. A friend of mine had an order for a new truck but is upset about the removal of equipment like Navigation/satellite radio and other things. Removing stuff and still charging these inflated prices. Plus the price of fuel. Not a good time to buy a new F150.
Late to the conversation but.... the reason my '22 Lariat has the 3.5 V6 is.... the cylinder deactivation on the V8. There is no way this cylinder management crap is anything but bad news. It's why I wouldn't buy a RAM with their MDS system. I'd rather have 2 turbos to deal with and use synthetic oil than deal with cylinder deactivation. Like you I don't have the words to describe how much I despise these systems. And I am not making mods like you so V8 was a no go.
The seats are not gonna tear. You are speculating. They are tough. Also i have a Raptor with the V6 and you are getting better gas economy i get 13.9 around town babying the gas.

I ordered my XLT black-out package March 1st. Just got an email last week that my truck is scheduled to be built the week of august 15th. With the FX4 I would hate a lift with 35” tires. It would rob the power and the v8 wouldn’t like the 35’s unless you had the max tow package with the 3.73 gears. That being said if you want 35” tires just send it and get a raptor. With the addition of your supercharger and lift and tires how much more would a raptor have been? I do agree that the fx4 should be taller in the front though. As far as cylinder deactivation…it’s the number one thing I’m nervous about. I’m a Toyota guy but hate where Toyota is headed with ditching the 5.7 tundra. They should have kept that motor and put a ten speed up to it… I prefer the f-150 over the tundra anyway so that’s why I went for this. Hopefully it’s as good as everyone says they are. This is the first ford I have ever bought.
First off congratulations on your first Ford and I hope you love it. I got my truck with the 3.73 with the tow package. And I didn’t say it would have to come with 35s but if you get the FX4 there should be an additional option for 35s. My truck was $61k and right now you can’t get a base Raptor for under $120k. Even if you order one they don’t give you msrp. And the tremor is just a worse Raptor for almost the same price and the same motor. @@ColeCulture ya. All I knew is that I couldn’t afford a raptor and I didn’t want an ecoboost. Traded in a 2021 Tacoma and that things was a wrongly geared Avalon. Hated it and got horrible mileage.
Cole I totally agree with the ride height. I'm still waiting for my F150 Lariat Powerboost to arrive and I looked into a lift kit or leveling kit. What I'm hearing is if I level it the truck will look like it's squatting more than normal as soon as I hook up my construction trailer. Let me know your thoughts on this. First off you gotta let me know when it gets in and how you like it. Secondly, are you gonna off road? If not then just put a level bucks in the front and call it a day. The powerboost is heavy so maybe people are guessing it will squat more because of that. But it doesn’t really make sense to me. Just my 2 cents on the exhaust sound. I get the nostalgia of the good old times of V8’s. However, today when ICE cars or trucks get smoked in total silence by just about any EV or even something like a stock Powerboost, makes that mean sound really irrelevant as a statement of power. Another thing is that majority of half ton trucks live a life of daily commuters and not real trucks which might be the reason why they come stock with the silent exhausts. Love your videos btw
@ Michal P, agree the sound is becoming irrelevant. One site just tested a base Lightning std battery 0-60 in 3.9 seconds…incredibly fast from a full size pickup
@Michal P, you are 100% right. Like I’ve said on this channel multiple times now, the powerboost is a much better buy for 95% of people. And with trucks like the rivian or cars like the plaid that are silent and will kill almost all cars on the road and even on the track, sound doesn’t not equal speed. But I feel like those vehicles are so perfect right off the showroom floor that it’s almost a passionless love. It’s fixing some of those imperfections and making the vehicle your own that is the magic with automotive lovers. And a loud as vehicle is definitely not for everyone even car guys. I agree with the progressive ev overtake, they make more sense in a lot or ways however they lack personality and excitement. I'll take a 400hp manual v8 car over a 5, 6,700hp any day for that reason. That being said to each your own and enjoy what you like
I wish you could get the Tremor package as an option like the super duty or the f150 version of the sasquatch package! I would have gotten a Tremor or a Raptor but I preferred to have the Powerboost engine
The powerboost kills the OG 3.5 in my opinion. The OG 3.5 is still an amazing powertrain but the PB has better mpg, much quicker plus I feel like it will last even longer than the 3.5 because the electric motors make the 3.5 stress free. For those reasons and more I believe at least the tremor should have had that as an option. But maybe they didn’t do it because they weren’t sure how the market would like the PB. What do you think? I think Ford was unsure about the how the PB would do so they held back or they were trying to make building these trucks easier in a time when it’s been extremely difficult to build them. In my opinion, the PB would be the perfect engine for the Tremor, more power and more torque.

Hi Cole I picked up my 2022 150 tremor last week I love it ,best truck I have owned,I talked to you before I trade in my ranger Lariat 2020 they gave me what I paided for it ,I got a hell of a deal on the tremor, family discount, my son works for the dealer ship that sell 5 different brands of vehicles so that helped. The ride is great and I love the seats I am 64 years of age ,I got it loaded ,black , I changed the lights in the rear bumper thanks for that looks good, I lost the glove box light and cup holder lights, I live in Ontario Canada, thanks again
Who you vote for matters and many things from the cost of integrated new technology standards, to fuel & even the front rake of ypur truck for better gas mileage - it all comes from the politicians elected to dream up new ways to keep that career of re-elections rolling. Try taking a gander at the 2025 deadline for CAFE standards that rushed re-tooling of entire fleets and forced Ford to kill off many vehicles in order to meet a new political utopia fleet standard of 54 miles per gallon average - if I remember correctly. Auto mfg's paid for all the new tech, tooling and mfg standards up front - then we the people pay at the back end because of the morons we elected. Let's Go Brandon!!!!

Put your truck in manual mode when cruising and it will shut off cylinder deactivation.

I figure I can level with some bilsteins front and back, put some black 17’s on 33” offroad tires, throw some led lights all around, put a new front and rear bumper on, drop a k&n in, tint windows and throw a bed liner on for well under what the upgraded trims run in these trucks. I just want to go hunting and drive fast on the pavement. The electronics are cool and all, but I came from an 04 Titan. Sweet truck that was straight piped and louder than a mfer, with every engine mod you could think of, but barely had a working stereo. I don’t even use my backup cam on the new truck 🤣. I respect the hell out of that and have always played with the idea of a base truck with 4x4 and the just super moding it. Powerboost is seriously such an awesome powertrain. @@ColeCulture I have a 30.06 for deer/elk, but that’s usually just a warm up for bird season. I have a good german shorthair that runs the desert/mountain for chukar/quail, and is a great duck dog out in the coastal areas. I live out in Oregon so I get a long hunting season. I’m excited to take my 4 year old out for her first hunt this year!

Just did a round trip I’m my 2021 powerboost from auburn, Wa to modest ca averaged 21.7 on eco mode. I didn’t get the 24 mpg advertised but considering I went through the mountains I thought it did really well filled up three times

It’s already sold. It was a KG custom from a ken Grody Ford. I wouldn’t recommend them those. That truck was selling for way more than it ever should have. You can get the grille for like $250 and most xlts are in the 50k range. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Cylinder deactivation is to appease the government. Otherwise Ford wouldn’t do it because they don’t want to pay for extra engineering. The exhaust well you will never satisfy everyone so the quieter side is the safe way to go for about 80 percent of V-8 buyers, easily modifiable. FX4 I do agree with you on that. It’s a waaay over priced option for what you get. Super Duty’s is like a $400ish upgrade. Adaptive learning is the word your looking for the trans. It learns within a couple of hundred miles, not thousands. Skip shifts in normal mode is exactly what its supposed to do. For the most part 10 speeds is really too many gears for a vehicle. The computer (imperfect), in normal mode selects the gear needed for the moment of the driving conditions. Obviously is programmed for better fuel mileage which is just fine for most people who will never modify their vehicle. And the rake is so if you’re using you pickup for work, the bed squinting won’t give you the high nose effect. Anyway thanks for sharing your opinion, I like hearing what everyone has to say about the trucks we enjoy owning.

Almost everything I see says 5k and it completely goes away. Not saying your wrong, I’m sure it’s meant to go away sooner than it does. Skips are Notorious for the 10 speed. I have a 22 powerboost and I love the gas mileage. The hybrid is taking a little bit to get used to but I have a 6 inch lift on 37s and average 16.4 mpg. I only bought the powerboost because I knew I was lifting it so wanted beat gas mileage I could get.

Your lucky Cole you got your trucks when you did. A friend of mine had an order for a new truck but is upset about the removal of equipment like Navigation/satellite radio and other things. Removing stuff and still charging these inflated prices. Plus the price of fuel.

Late to the conversation but.... the reason my '22 Lariat has the 3.5 V6 is.... the cylinder deactivation on the V8. There is no way this cylinder management crap is anything but bad news. It's why I wouldn't buy a RAM with their MDS system. I'd rather have 2 turbos to deal with and use synthetic oil than deal with cylinder deactivation. Like you I don't have the words to describe how much I despise these systems. And I am not making mods like you so V8 was a no go.

I ordered my XLT black-out package March 1st. Just got an email last week that my truck is scheduled to be built the week of august 15th. With the FX4 I would hate a lift with 35” tires. It would rob the power and the v8 wouldn’t like the 35’s unless you had the max tow package with the 3.73 gears. That being said if you want 35” tires just send it and get a raptor. With the addition of your supercharger and lift and tires how much more would a raptor have been? I do agree that the fx4 should be taller in the front though. As far as cylinder deactivation…it’s the number one thing I’m nervous about. I’m a Toyota guy but hate where Toyota is headed with ditching the 5.7 tundra. They should have kept that motor and put a ten speed up to it… I prefer the f-150 over the tundra anyway so that’s why I went for this. Hopefully it’s as good as everyone says they are. This is the first ford I have ever bought.
First off congratulations on your first Ford and I hope you love it. I got my truck with the 3.73 with the tow package. And I didn’t say it would have to come with 35s but if you get the FX4 there should be an additional option for 35s. My truck was $61k and right now you can’t get a base Raptor for under $120k. Even if you order one they don’t give you msrp. And the tremor is just a worse Raptor for almost the same price and the same motor. @@ColeCulture ya. All I knew is that I couldn’t afford a raptor and I didn’t want an ecoboost. Traded in a 2021 Tacoma and that things was a wrongly geared Avalon. Hated it and got horrible mileage.
Cole I totally agree with the ride height. I'm still waiting for my F150 Lariat Powerboost to arrive and I looked into a lift kit or leveling kit. What I'm hearing is if I level it the truck will look like it's squatting more than normal as soon as I hook up my construction trailer. Let me know your thoughts on this. First off you gotta let me know when it gets in and how you like it. Secondly, are you gonna off road? If not then just put a level bucks in the front and call it a day. The powerboost is heavy so maybe people are guessing it will squat more because of that. But it doesn’t really make sense to me. Just my 2 cents on the exhaust sound. I get the nostalgia of the good old times of V8’s. However, today when ICE cars or trucks get smoked in total silence by just about any EV or even something like a stock Powerboost, makes that mean sound really irrelevant as a statement of power. Another thing is that majority of half ton trucks live a life of daily commuters and not real trucks which might be the reason why they come stock with the silent exhausts. Love your videos btw
@ Michal P, agree the sound is becoming irrelevant. One site just tested a base Lightning std battery 0-60 in 3.9 seconds…incredibly fast from a full size pickup
@Michal P, you are 100% right. Like I’ve said on this channel multiple times now, the powerboost is a much better buy for 95% of people. And with trucks like the rivian or cars like the plaid that are silent and will kill almost all cars on the road and even on the track, sound doesn’t not equal speed. But I feel like those vehicles are so perfect right off the showroom floor that it’s almost a passionless love. It’s fixing some of those imperfections and making the vehicle your own that is the magic with automotive lovers. And a loud as vehicle is definitely not for everyone even car guys. I agree with the progressive ev overtake, they make more sense in a lot or ways however they lack personality and excitement. I'll take a 400hp manual v8 car over a 5, 6,700hp any day for that reason. That being said to each your own and enjoy what you like
I wish you could get the Tremor package as an option like the super duty or the f150 version of the sasquatch package! I would have gotten a Tremor or a Raptor but I preferred to have the Powerboost engine
The powerboost kills the OG 3.5 in my opinion. The OG 3.5 is still an amazing powertrain but the PB has better mpg, much quicker plus I feel like it will last even longer than the 3.5 because the electric motors make the 3.5 stress free. For those reasons and more I believe at least the tremor should have had that as an option. But maybe they didn’t do it because they weren’t sure how the market would like the PB. What do you think? I think Ford was unsure about the how the PB would do so they held back or they were trying to make building these trucks easier in a time when it’s been extremely difficult to build them. In my opinion, the PB would be the perfect engine for the Tremor, more power and more torque.

Hi Cole I picked up my 2022 150 tremor last week I love it ,best truck I have owned,I talked to you before I trade in my ranger Lariat 2020 they gave me what I paided for it ,I got a hell of a deal on the tremor, family discount, my son works for the dealer ship that sell 5 different brands of vehicles so that helped. The ride is great and I love the seats I am 64 years of age ,I got it loaded ,black , I changed the lights in the rear bumper thanks for that looks good, I lost the glove box light and cup holder lights, I live in Ontario Canada, thanks again

Who you vote for matters and many things from the cost of integrated new technology standards, to fuel & even the front rake of ypur truck for better gas mileage - it all comes from the politicians elected to dream up new ways to keep that career of re-elections rolling.
Try taking a gander at the 2025 deadline for CAFE standards that rushed re-tooling of entire fleets and forced Ford to kill off many vehicles in order to meet a new political utopia fleet standard of 54 miles per gallon average - if I remember correctly. Auto mfg's paid for all the new tech, tooling and mfg standards up front - then we the people pay at the back end because of the morons we elected.

My 2018 Raptor had a great turning radius. Now my 2021 Limited has got to be the worst ever! It's horrible!
