You are right, the Action 4 has build in bluetooth. Im not sure if it can be directly connected to the Sena though. Something to find out. With the dongle it will work 100%.
@@AndrewCromarty yeah it's annoying. I have the DJI Mic 2 but can't fit it in or near my helmet. There are a few of us on the DJI forums asking them allow external bluetooth mics. I won't hold my breath though.
@@defylifeadventure I'm physically stuck at the moment between the choice of getting a GoPro 12, an action 4 or insta Ace. However, for multiple reasons, each seems to be lacking what the other provides. The GoPro image is woeful, their app is lousy, but has open Bluetooth connection and also offers 8:7 video for post editing and also has replaceable lenses should you scratch one. The action 4 has the best image quality and also has the best app. However, the lack of Open source Bluetooth holds me off as I don't fancy riding in the rain with a side door open just to connect a microphone. The insta ace, is just generally meh and not suited for Moto vlogging whatsoever. However, all of their failings have a combined issue in that none of them do telemetry natively within the camera, and GoPro got rid of it completely since the 11. My thought process is if I'm going to get back into vlogging. I want to streamline the process as much as possible as I remember how much of a faff it can be in post, and having to mess around with either additional remote controls for GPS (like insta and DJI) or having to run a separate app on your mobile phone to log the data to then convert it then to transcode it back into a video editor just to use a GoPro 12 is time I don't want to waste, so right now none of these cameras actually fulfill my purpose and I'm just hoping that the next iteration later on this year returns GPS or integrates it into the other offerings like the DJI. Oh God forbid someone actually creates a waterproof connection for these cameras to allow external devices and battery options
Hi struggling to get it working when paired with another sena, also mesh won't work am I doing something wrong. had it working on Bluetooth with just one set....Paul
I got the same struggle, it seems like the bluetooth can only connect to 1 other device. Wich is odd, because when connecting to a phone, there is no issue.
@@nielsonwheels83 Thanks for the answer, unfortunately most splitters only support headphones and not a microphone. At least that's how I understand the descriptions in the offers.
I just got back from a short holiday and have tested it. So far the mesh functionality switched off while I had the dongle paired (as phone), so I didnt manage to get the MESh conversations on the action camera, sadly

I wonder if other intercoms would work with the C81
I would like to know too. I have a cheap EJEAS.
Great video and works really well with the SENA Spider ST1 as well
do you have to pair every time you record, or does it start automatically every time you record..Thanks Paul
Hi Paul, the pairing you only have to do once. After this they will connect automatically when switched on.
@@nielsonwheels83 oh wow that sounds good, currently using the mass wiring system 😱🤣Thanks for info and your super quick response 😀👍
itsn't action 4 has build in bluetooth to connect to other microphone? why need a dongle?

Currently DJI have locked the in built BT to only work with their own BT mic

Will pairing with the microphone of normal headphones also work? For example, Airpods or Galaxy buds
Probably not, but I didn't test it (yet).

Will this work on a GoPro camera? Like a hero 9, 10 or 11?
Hi Richard, I didnt try it out. Maybe it will work on the 10 and 11?
Hello biker, I'm looking for an adapter solution with which I can use the dongle and charge it at the same time?
Like an usb c splitter?

Have you tested recieving intercom conversations ? If yes, how is the recording quality
I need this also know if it recieve from other speakers

will this work for Sena 20s ? I mean will it pair to dongle?
Hi Alex, I am not sure if it will work on the older models. Maybe you can check if the dongle supports the bluetooth version on the sena 20s?
DJI OSMO ACTION 4 and C81 are incompatible. I hope there will be an update as soon as possible
Thanks. I was just about to about one until I saw your comment. I wonder if the Creative BT-W5 works
also for cardo?
Could be, only tested it with the Sena
Does this also work with an GoPro or insta 360?
With the latest models of Gopro and with the Insta360 it should be possible to pair them with the Sena
I have the SF2, and unfortunately I can't get them paired. Then just the more expensive solution from DJI itself.
When pairing the camera to your intercom, make sure the bluetooth on your smartphone is switched off. Otherwise, it will not work 😁
I was going to ask can I still play music via Bluetooth from my phone while recording, but I guess this answers my question
