Latest Update on 508111. The unit has been withdrawn but tomorrow (11th September) The unit is will be leaving Birkenhead North Depot to Crewe South Yard for Storage as Newport Docks is full at the moment while scrapping units.
For your info; Bootle New Strand was called Marsh Lane and Strand Road, cos I used to work there!! (Many moons ago!) Very interesting video. Well done!! Regards Ns
Good that you retrieve the 508111 The Beatles was lucky to retrieve this on Ormskirk Diagrams too this will go with 508128 tomorrow both to put into storage at Crewe South Yard
Dam, those 777 units do look in their own league. You got lucky seeing 508111 Beatles livery. A shame the 507/508's are on borrowed time. A lovely railway journey along the Merseyrail :-)
Didn't rode on the unit but I did end up finding it. The latest is that Monday it will be leaving Birkenhead Depot but going to Crewe for Storage as the Scrap Yard in Newport is full at the moment.
Great stuff, Simon. I know nothing really of Mersey rail (except that the new trains look fantastic!) - for those of us who don’t know Merseyside at all, is it possible to show a map of the stations you visited in the video please?
Great vlog Simon, I enjoy visiting the Merseyrail network, sadly I filmed Chester Station that day and got no PEPS as result of the flooding. I enjoyed watching as always.
im loving all the Merseyrail stations & brilliant shots of the Beatles train & ill be doing a Merseyrail daysaver while im up North one day & as with news of the 777s now doing the Wirral lines which has made my dessions easy as i can do the Wirral line as well as the Northern line but good thing is ill grab a mix of PEPS & 777s & ill be able to try out the 777s aswell bearing in mind that the Kirkby line is reduced to every 30 mins this week & next week anyway awesome vlog keep up the awesome work
Brilliant video Cyber, really is sad to see that the Beatles story PEP has now been withdrawn as of when this video goes up. Good to see you were able to come up with a new plan when the first one wasn't possible.
Great video, Simon! It's good that people are capturing lots of the PEPs before they disappear for good. Nice work in fixing your own melons up moment too!
Crikey .. I am just looking up details on the computer regarding the Merseyrail Saveaway ticket when your notification pinged on my phone. Do you know whether the Saveaway ticket is valid on the main train route from Chester to Liverpool ? My wife and I will soon be having a short break in Manchester, then in Liverpool and I was thinking about making the short trip to Chester before heading to Liverpool
It valid on Liverpool to Chester via Merseyrail, not valid on Liverpool to Chester via Transport for Wales (only as far as Liverpool South Parkway), between Hooton and Chester the saveaway can only be used on the trains and not other methods of public transport
@@Sim0nTrains Many thanks for your very quick reply. According to the merseyrail website .. "Covering bus, train and ferry, the Saveaway offers you flexibility to choose which modes of transport best suit your travel needs"
Yes and no, it is leaving Birkenhead Depot tomorrow but it heading to Crewe for Storage as Newport Docks is full at the moment and once space is made then it will go to Newport Docks to be scrapped
Yeah, looked into it a bit more and edited my comment slightly before I saw this reply. Didn't know it wasn't been scrapped because Newport is full, thanks for that info.
If it the one when I'm taking with the entrance behind it outside Liverpool Central Station, it a entrance/exit on Fairclough Street as it can be more quieter, plus the road that i'm standing on takes cars to a Network Rail's Liverpool Central Access Depot which is a private road (I'm standing on the public part) But the access Depot has taken over the site of the former Liverpool Central High Level Station.

Thank you and will admit that I did get that wrong as I wrote 'Marsh Lane and New Strand' on my notes when typing them the night before filming

Thoroughly entertaining video, good captures of 508111 as well. Amazing how well made plans can change on the day.

I’m back Simon after almost a year off. Good video, keep up the good work👍
Excellent video. Glad you got to visit the Merseyrail network and see some of the remaining PEP units.
Thanks Desiro360

Thanks barrowc
I will still miss the Merseyrail Class 508 and the Class 507 as more Class 777 trains are in service. And the Class 777 are very nice.
I got a feeling that that livery will go on a 777 but problem is, it won't be the same
I should hope that one of the 777s is given the Beatles wrap to replace 508 111 at some point.

You could have literally walked between Bootle Oriel Road and Bootle New Strand in 15 minutes, but I get you wanted to do the journey via blog lol
508111 is supposed to be withdrawn tomorrow, leaving Birkenhead Depot around 11:55

What camera/phone do you use to flim?
I visited Liverpool 508 111 The Beatles I've on video
what entrance is that?

@@Sim0nTrains interesting, I've never seen it before

Think I heard a date 2nd December that the last Class 508s will be withdrawn but not 100% sure on that one.
