@@taylordocherty9807 You need to "crouch jump." I spent about an hour on easy without enemies with his video paused or at 25% speed trying to duplicate the jump. Got it maybe once every 20-30 times. For those still attempting this, you need to crouch jump both times. The way I set it up is the get my back to the small tree next to the pipe, and you jump kind of diagonally toward the end of the pipe. With the second jump, make sure you are on the raised lip of the pipe before you jump, as you need that extra height to pull it off.

Also, I know I'm very late, but I know people are complaining about the Save/Quit method not working properly for Halo 3. Just finished in 13:08. The hammer guy also dropped a flare in my run though as well. In the last section, I essentially ran through avoiding all enemies and waiting for my shield to recharge then threw down my bubble shield I was carrying just as I entered the room where you free the marines. Then picked off the enemies from the area on the far left (looking towards the pelican side) behind that building. Took about 2 1/2 minutes from when I freed the marines to the end of the level.
Cool...I was on a near perfect run, but the brute chieftan didn't drop invincibility. He dropped a goddamn flare... Spent 20 minutes trying to get into the holding cell.
Did a run while watching and pausing this in maybe four or five sections and got just over the 15, did it again after knowing the route and hit 12:40 easily. Great video.
I missed par by 27 seconds, but at least I finally got this one logged. Hopefully I can make it up on other levels. Thanks for the guide! Could have sworn I already posted an alternate strategy for the pipe jump, but here's the short version: Go left of the tree/pipe, jump on the Covie weapon crate, then crouch-jump to the ledge, where it slopes down a little. (Much easier and more consistent to pull off, imho.) You'll land in front of a rock, so immediately turn right and then swerve left behind another rock for cover. I found it helps to have the Catch Skull on, because Grunts throwing grenades are Grunts who aren't shooting at you. This also lets you pick up some grenades from the first trio which you can use for crowd control, especially taking down that one Jackal who always spawns on the ridge to the top right.
yeah the pipe jump is crazy, I can get the jump but on legendary i get melted the second i put my head out. I even usually get noticed before I enter the cave after the carbine crate. Im gonna try your strat.

The save quit, reload cheese that resets your time to what it first was when you reached your latest checkpoint doesn’t seem to work for halo 3 but I discovered another way of doing it. You didn't do it correctly. I just did it a few minutes ago. You have to do it exactly how he does. Same route. If you too close to the edge, it will spawn the enemies

If you are having a lot of trouble, clear that area first and practise it. Once you've got the hang if it, then try the speed run. It's not an easy speedrun so it will feel pretty frustrating sometimes but it will get easier with practise.
I'm really late but do you need to do all levels at once or does it take your best time?
Heroism best time from each mission and adds it all up
I do not understand how you survive the second encounter at about 2:30
Yea I’m stuck there
Yes
13:09 :D ty silver. the randomness of this mission is wackish.... there was defiantly room to improve in our runs, but hey fuck it. its halo 3. weve played it before :D
Are you going to update this guide in the future? Because you forgot to explain a few things, Like how you can't use the save and quit exploit to save time, or you need to crouch to land the jump at 2:30.
You also didn't mention the possibility of the brute chieftain on dropping a flare instead of invincibility and what you should do if you don't get it like i didn't. Despite this, i somehow still did better than you on time, 12:59 VS 14:09 :P
Was doing great...until the hammer brute only drops flares... Fuck this.
Is this achievement in one run, or your best times combined?
Best times combined. You can do the missions in any order and repeat any missions as much as you want. You can also do it in coop.
@@HaloCompletionist I just added up all my best times , it is 177 minutes which is under 3 hours, achievement didn't pop for me. Smh 343.
@@KiyaWarrior You probably got it at this point, but be sure to also do the cutscene missions on legendary.
The thing with halo 3 you can’t really speedrun any level and save a lot of time you will barely make to par time for almost every lavel in fact the fact and the covenants you will never hit it you just need to make not a terrible time
I remember with halo 1 et 2 if you fuck up you can save/Quit and go back and the time reserve from you last checkpoint but from halo 3 and so one this is no more possible smh
Yes you can. If you really want that method when you die pause the game, hit center button, hit home, then quit game and relaunch, and then continue game.
You opened hack its impoeseble
Great, i like that you show safe strats, thanks for the videos, i would reccomend you maybe and intro or something else to your videos, like an atractive image in the preview of the video maybe, you do an amazing job but i know you can do better =D
Antonio Duran Thank you, sir! Yeah, I definitely need to start adding custom thumbnails at least. I've been putting it off for so longggggg
Halo Completionist whatever you do, just don't have big bold bubble writing across the thumbnail, just because nearly everyone else does. Maybe just a picture of the level your doing then put in small bold writing on it some where "speedrun" "laso" or "[NameOfAchievement]" for example. That'd be cool :D
For all the halo games under 3 hour legendary runs can you do this co-op?
Yup!
@@HaloCompletionist thanks!
Can you do it with the acrophobia skull on?
Nope, no 0.00 multiplier skulls for 3 hr speedruns.
First skip doesn't work
It does though
@@HaloCompletionist I've tried a dozen times. Enemies won't despawn.
You have to do it quickly or they spawn in. Idk the timing, but Id guess you have like 10-15 seconds once you get to the point where you try the jump
@@HaloCompletionist That jump is hard but I feel like I've gotten it in less than 10 seconds. I'll practice some more I guess then. I thought the skip was to despawn enemies, not prevent them from spawning.
@@reedemthed3ad985 any luck with this? I've noticed as soon as i get to the jump regardless of speed it always triggers the checkpoint which trigger the brute. So like even if i do the jump first try it doesn't matter.
The fucking pipe jump man, what the hell did you do?
Fuck it, I might as well catalog my attempts at this pipe. Note: 10 minutes later and I still haven’t gotten it.
20 minutes in: I’ve given up the thought of par time for this run. My only concern is this pipe.
33 minutes in: I actually made one once but got hit by a bruteshot, I would be angry but I stopped feeling anger at least 10 minutes ago. Writing these is therapeutic.
40 something minutes in, I’ve reached a new paradigm. I broke a while back but the feeling I have now is contentment. I wish I had a recording of this time in my life so that way others may laugh at my struggle.
Good guides by the way, I’ve used a lot of them to get achievements.
I'd forgotten how bad this game is until I started working on this achievement. This level is going to be fun, I've already had 4 runs die on me due to bad RNG.
Greatest game ever made.
This game is so short
It was the first one I played .
It was a great game in those days.
2008
One of the shorter Halos, probably because they meant to include most of it in Halo 2 but they just didn't have the time to do so, so they created seperate games.
Halo 2 was long so fair enough
3 is quality over quantity.
Can you do this with acrophobia?
No, Acrophobia is a zero multiplier skull, which disables scoring AND timed runs. You need to log times for the leaderboards to get this achievement.
@@SaiyanHeretic (Hannibal voice) waaaaack! Lol
can I use your speed run tutorial's to pass halo 3 or any other of the halo games on legendary ?
That's exactly why they are posted?
@@ripd-bear 😂
This guy is secretly on heroic, grunts do way less damage than when you actually play Legendary.
You on PC? Thats probably why.
He has tilt on, but I did it just fine on Legendary. Shoot grunts in the head once and they're dead?
I hate speedrunning more than anything else in videogames. At least in 1 and 2 you could save and quit to bypass it, but no in 3 and 4 I have to do it legit and it's fucking awful. I might just give up on 100% on the MCC here.
+ChocolateCatFat100 please tell me more about save ant quit
It's so dumb that they designed achievements around speedrunning. It's just farming RNG and abusing glitches.
@@DemoniteBL move on then.
This is our dated the first skip doesn’t despawn anyone
You didn't do it correctly. I just did it a few minutes ago. You have to do it exactly how he does. Same route. If you too close to the edge, it will spawn the enemies
Works fine for me.
Yeah, these guides are not very good. Way too RNG based, you should probably re-do them sometime in the future with more current strats. Putting stuff like the pipe jump in a video and being like "this works if you get good enemy spawns" is not the way to make a guide
Or you can take thirty seconds to eliminate threats and then move and and get the achievement.
@@ripd-bear it takes way more than 30 seconds to eliminate the threats in the pipe area. If it didnt then they wouldnt bother with the pipe jump.
Cry
This level in general has a lot of rng regardless. Random spawns. Sounds like you have no idea what you’re talking about
